Ubisoft has officially lifted the lid on Red Moon Unleashed, the haunting new Halloween event hitting The Division 2 — and it’s bringing fresh frights, fearsome gear, and a limited-time twist to the Dark Zone.

When It Runs

October 15 through November 3, 2026 — available across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. That gives you just over two and a half weeks to dive in before it vanishes.

What It Is — The Red Moon Effect

Building on the ongoing Red Moon Rising Dark Zone activity, Red Moon Unleashed amps up the atmosphere and stakes. The Black Tusk have seized control of the PvE Dark Zones, and your SHD tech is behaving unpredictably. Here’s the deal:

• Enter the affected Dark Zone (check your map for the glowing red moon icon — it rotates weekly)
• The longer you stay, the more Red Moon Stacks you build — gaining 2 stacks every 6 seconds
• Each tier brings powerful buffs paired with dangerous drawbacks — high risk, high reward
• Die, extract, or leave the zone ? stacks reset completely. Safehouses pause accumulation so you can catch your breath

The Loot — Two New Exotics & Spooky Swag

This is where it gets exciting. The event-exclusive reward pool serves up Exotics, Dark Zone Named items, Prototype gear, and more — headlined by:

Vertigo — Exotic GR9 Rifle

• Talent: Startling — Suppress an enemy ? they become Disoriented, and you + allies gain +30% damage to targets out of cover for 15 seconds
• Built-in bonuses: +15% Crit Chance, +50-round mag, +15% reload speed, +10% rate of fire

Sarru — Exotic Backpack

• Talent: Decoy King — The moon cycles through 8 phases, one every 5 seconds
• Your damage bonus starts at +5% (New Moon) and climbs to +25% (Full Moon) before falling back
• Perfect for sustained combat — time your big hits with the peak phases

Halloween Exclusives

• Bound Slasher Mask — login reward available throughout the event
• Lichtenberg — lightning-fast high-end rifle with the Run and Gun talent (build stacks while on the move)

How to Jump In

1. Update The Division 2 to the latest build
2. Look for the red moon icon on your Dark Zone map — that’s your active event zone
3. Head in, hold your nerve, and push as deep as you dare
4. Twitch Drops are also running during parts of the event — link your accounts to grab extra caches while watching your favourite agents
