    You step into the boots of Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, who has spent years in FBC custody after being corrupted by the Hiss. Now, as a reality-bending cosmic crisis consumes the city, Dylan is deployed as a living weapon. His mission? Find his missing sister, Director Jesse Faden, and stop a threat that makes the Hiss look like a minor frequency interference.

    From Shooter to Action-RPG

    The biggest shock for fans isn’t the setting—it’s the genre. Remedy has officially described Control Resonant as an open-ended action-adventure RPG.

    What is FBC: Firebreak?

    Set six years after the events of Control, the game places you on a team of three first responders fighting to keep the Oldest House from crumbling under a relentless paranormal siege—primarily the malevolent Hiss, but as we’ve learned, the FBC is never short on crises.

    It’s a co-op shooter that emphasises teamwork, unique loadouts, and utilising your specialised Crisis Kits (featuring tools, grenades, and paranatural augments) to survive the ever-shifting, unpredictable environment.


    Breakpoint: Beyond an Update, It’s an Overhaul

    The ‘Breakpoint’ update, which is completely free, is not just a content drop; it’s a systemic revamp designed to make the core gameplay loop more fun, varied, and rewarding.

    1. The New Crisis Board

    Gone is the old Job Board! It’s been replaced with the Crisis Board, a dynamic system that presents players with a rotating selection of curated Crises. This change delivers on the fantasy of being an unpredictable first-responder by showing you the emergencies that are currently emerging across the Oldest House. It creates a more dynamic experience, urging players to react to different missions and conditions in real-time.

    2. New Crisis: The Outbreak

    A new paranormal threat has emerged: the Mold is spreading through the Research Sector! This new Crisis, aptly named “Outbreak,” brings its own unique set of challenges, objectives (like carrying infected objects), and, terrifyingly, new enemies like the Mold Walker and Mold Turret. Prepare for some seriously gross new encounters that will feel instantly familiar to fans of Control.

    3. Expanded Arsenal and Gun Mods

    Variety is the spice of life—and survival—in the FBC. ‘Breakpoint’ introduces an expanded arsenal, including three new heavy weapons like the Scattergun, Semi-automatic Rifle, and Rotary Cannon, along with three new grenade types, including a Freeze and a Healing grenade for added tactical depth.

    The big change here is the new Gun Mod system. This robust customisation feature adds modifiers that can drastically change a weapon’s functionality and power, giving players more freedom to create specialised builds and synergies within their Firebreak team.

    4. Reworked Economy and Onboarding

    Remedy has significantly streamlined the in-game economy, making progression feel clearer and more rewarding. Importantly, they’ve made significant strides in improving the new player experience with a brand new tutorial mission called “Orientation,” which offers a smoother, more guided entry into the chaotic world of the FBC.
