Zombies fans, the moment of truth has finally arrived. The Dark Aether storyline in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is heading toward its terrifying grand finale, and Treyarch is pulling out all the stops for Season 05 Reloaded, launching on August 20, 2026.
The spotlight of this mid-season drop is Rex Infernus—the final round-based Zombies map of Black Ops 7. Translating from Latin as the “King of Hell,” the map forces the crew into their most desperate last stand yet as reality stands on the brink of complete destruction.

The Last Stand: What is Rex Infernus?
After a long and brutal journey across space and time, the crew must cleanse the Shadowsmith places of power and break into the Warden’s inner sanctum to stop his nightmare reign once and for all.
Visually, Rex Infernus takes nostalgic horror to a whole new level. Long-time fans will immediately spot a twisted, Dark Aether-corrupted recreation of Dr. Monty’s House perched atop floating landmasses. The environment is grey, bleak, and distorted by Dark Aether energy—setting a haunting stage for the final Easter Egg Main Quest, which unlocks right when the update goes live.
New Terrors: Deathspinners & The Web Mother
It wouldn’t be a proper Zombies finale without new nightmare-inducing threats. Rex Infernus introduces arachnid-themed horrors that will test even the tightest squad coordination:
- Deathspinners: Fast, aggressive, and relentless. While manageable in single combat, Deathspinners quickly overwhelm players in swarms, firing ranged webbing that slows movement and leaves you vulnerable to the horde.
- Web Mother: The new Elite threat. The Web Mother lunges, screams, and coats the battlefield in thick webbing. She can cocoon zombies, transforming them into explosive environmental traps that disrupt your running routes.
To help clear out these swarms, players can activate the all-new Titan Trap—a massive trap that calls down giant fists to slam into the earth, pulverising entire trains of zombies in seconds.
Returning Perk, Weapons & GobbleGums
Treyarch is stocking the arsenal with plenty of firepower and fan-favourite legacy gear to help you survive the finale:
- Widow’s Wine Returns: The iconic Perk-a-Cola is back, complete with customizable Augments. Equipping Major Augments like Hatchling will summon friendly Deathspinners to fight alongside you when web explosions trigger, while Widow’s Bite overcharges your health on melee kills against cocooned foes.
- Fully Packed GobbleGum: Upgrade your current weapon directly to max potential to keep up with high-round health scaling.
- Legacy Weapons: The classic Olympia shotgun and TR2 Marksman Rifle make their return to the Mystery Box and loadouts.
