Gaijin Entertainment has officially announced the next major content update for its premier military online action game, War Thunder. Titled “Sky Odyssey,” the update is scheduled to launch in mid-September, delivering a vast array of new vehicles, technological upgrades, and a brand-new map for combat enthusiasts.
New Greek Forces & Signature Military Hardware
The centrepiece of the “Sky Odyssey” update is the addition of brand-new Greek aviation and ground forces subtrees, allowing players to command legendary units from Hellenic military history.
Alongside the Greek forces, a selection of standout global vehicles is joining the game’s expansive roster:
- Arjun Mk 1: India’s first domestically designed and built main battle tank, bringing impressive firepower and armour to the ground game.
- AW159 Wildcat HMA2: A sleek, modern British helicopter equipped for modern air-to-ground battlefields.
- HMS Duke of York: The iconic British King George V-class battleship, ready to rule the high seas and bolster naval lineups.
New Battleground & Gameplay Mechanics
Combat expands to new territory with a map set in the Falkland Islands, offering unique geographical challenges for air, ground, and naval tactical warfare.
Beyond hardware, “Sky Odyssey” introduces key mechanical and technological enhancements:
- Improved Bomber Damage Models: Designed to deliver more realistic structural damage and survival mechanics during heavy bombing runs.
- Advanced Avionics: Modern aircraft will receive upgraded Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) and Helmet-Mounted Displays (HMDs), giving pilots clearer situational awareness and a more authentic modern cockpit experience.
