Digital Extremes recently turned up the heat by cooling things down at their special edition Devstream (Devstream #197), broadcast live from the TennoVIP community event in Seoul, South Korea. Fans of both Warframe and Soulframe were treated to a massive slate of autumn reveals, dropping new gameplay systems, fresh lore, and a packed roadmap that proves the developer is far from slowing down.
If you missed the livestream, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming treats making their way to the Origin System and beyond this fall.
1. Iceblade of Narin Drops Free on September 23
Mark your calendars! Warframe’s next major free update, Iceblade of Narin, is officially launching across all platforms on September 23, 2026.
This glacial expansion is set to shake up the status quo with a flurry of new features, including:
- The 66th Warframe – Narin: Designed as a graceful, rapier-wielding frost sword-dancer, Narin is the Origin System’s newest martial master. She blends deadly crowd control with supportive frost abilities to manipulate the battlefield. Her signature arsenal includes the Nunchasa Bow and the Aksondol dual ice pistols.
- Six-Player Squad Gameplay: Breaking the long-standing four-player squad cap for standard missions, the new Glacial Defiance mode allows up to six Tenno to team up for high-intensity, veteran-tier combat.
- Yuvan Peak Relay Hub: A brand-new social space set on the mysterious dark side of Earth where Tenno can gather, unlock Narin’s Crest, and prepare for battle.
- Melica’s Lab & Entropic Eximus: A new Zariman-focused encounter opening up Entropic Eximus enemies, dropping valuable Entropic Kuva to trade with Cephalon Melica for Narin blueprints and additional gear.
2. Dazzle the Origin System with Citrine Prime Access
Launching alongside the update on September 23, Citrine Prime Access brings a gleaming, gilded upgrade to the beloved crystal warframe. Players will be able to instantly unlock or farm for Citrine Prime, along with her signature Prime gear—including the Steflos Prime shotgun, the Corufell Prime gun-scythe, and an array of exclusive Prime cosmetics.
3. A Once-in-a-Lifetime Event – Epoch Operation: Taubound
Digital Extremes also teased an unprecedented, community-wide in-game event set to redefine the overarching narrative: Epoch Operation: Taubound.
Launching on October 15, 2026 (and running through November 17), this event calls upon players across the solar system to gather essential resources on Eris to forge a path toward Warframe: Tau. Completing the event rewards exclusive limited-time collectables and helps pave the way toward the next major chapter of Warframe’s universe.
4. Soulframe and Quality-of-Life Upgrades
Alongside the frost-bitten Warframe reveals, the Devstream offered fresh peeks into Digital Extremes’ upcoming fantasy action-MMO, Soulframe. Creative Director Geoff Crookes and Associate Art Director Rosa Lee showcased the expanding world of Alca, keeping hype high for the companion title’s ongoing pre-alpha testing phases.
For returning Warframe veterans, the stream also detailed a highly anticipated Banshee Rework, long-awaited Riven Mod crafting improvements (allowing trait locking and splicing), and new Deluxe skins including Qorvex Deluxe and Banshee Deluxe.
Final Thoughts
Whether you are eager to step into the boots of Narin, take on 6-player squad challenges, or take part in the history-making Epoch Operation: Taubound, autumn is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in Digital Extremes history.
