Astroneer fans, it’s time to dust off your space suits and prep your terrain tools. Developer System Era Softworks, teaming up with indie publishing powerhouse Devolver Digital, has officially announced STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions.
This isn’t just a standard DLC expansion; it is a brand-new, fully standalone game set within the massive Astroneer universe—a universe that already boasts an impressive player base of over 11 million explorers.
Best of all? You won’t have to wait long to jump in. STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is scheduled to blast off into Early Access on June 11.
A New Frontier: What is STARSEEKER?
While it is set in the same vibrant, stylised universe we know and love, System Era has made it clear that STARSEEKER is not Astroneer 2. Instead, it’s a completely fresh experience built from the ground up with a heavy focus on discovery, cooperative team-based expeditions, and camaraderie.
Players will board the ESS Starseeker, an ever-evolving mobile space station that serves as the central hub for your adventures. From here, you and your crewmates will plan high-stakes expeditions, upgrade your tech, and hang out with other players before deploying to uncharted planets to tackle massive, planet-wide objectives.

At launch, the Early Access version will include the fully playable online multiplayer sandbox, hundreds of missions and tasks, dozens of items to earn and craft, and the game’s initial planet, Tephra. The team plans to remain in Early Access for roughly a year, rolling out monthly updates that introduce new planets, characters, end-game challenges, and narrative arcs.
