Star Wars: Beyond Victory – A Mixed Reality Playset is an upcoming virtual and mixed reality experience developed by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and Lucasfilm. The game is set to launch on October 7, 2025, exclusively for the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S headsets.
This new title is designed to blend the digital and physical worlds, allowing players to interact with the Star Wars universe in a new way. It features three distinct gameplay modes:
Adventure Mode: This mode offers a new narrative experience, set during the era of the Empire. Players take on the role of Volo Bolus, an up-and-coming podracer who is mentored by the legendary Sebulba. The story combines fully immersive virtual reality scenes with moments that integrate with the player’s real-world surroundings.
Arcade Mode: This mode focuses on fast-paced podracing. It transforms your physical space into a virtual “holotable” where you can race a podracer from a top-down perspective. This mode is designed for replayability with multiple paths and power-ups.
Playset Mode: This is the core mixed reality component of the game, appealing to the nostalgia of playing with Star Wars action figures. In this sandbox mode, players can use unlockable digital figures, vehicles, and props to create and stage their own scenes in their real-world environment. The digital models can be resized, posed, and even used as a virtual remote-controlled car.
The game also features a voice cast that includes Fin Argus, Greg Proops, Lilimar Hernandez, Lewis MacLeod (reprising his role as Sebulba), and Bobby Moynihan.
Star Wars: Beyond Victory is a significant step for ILM’s immersive storytelling, building on their previous work with titles like Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.
