The Capybara Takes the Cosmos: Super Galaxy Gladiator is Coming for the Bullet Heaven Crown

If you thought capybaras were just for chilling in hot springs and being the internet’s favourite “friend-shaped” animal, think again. The developers at Flying Capybara are flipping the script with Super Galaxy Gladiator, a high-octane survivor-like roguelite that trades peaceful vibes for galactic dominance.

Currently making waves on Steam with a demo landing this month, this title aims to inject a fresh dose of strategy into the “bullet heaven” genre made famous by Vampire Survivors.

    Chaos in the Arena

At its core, Super Galaxy Gladiator pits you against relentless hordes of alien creatures in a brutal, neon-soaked galactic arena. It’s fast, it’s chaotic, and—as is tradition for the genre—it starts with you feeling like an underdog and ends with you becoming a walking supernova of destruction.

But while the “survive the timer” loop is familiar, Flying Capybara is introducing a mechanic that might just make this a must-play for build-crafting junkies: Spatial Inventory Management.

It’s Not Just What You Have, It’s Where You Put It

Most survivor-likes let you stack perks and call it a day. In Super Galaxy Gladiator, your inventory is a grid where positioning is everything.

    • Synergy Links: Items can boost their neighbours or draw power from specific placements.
    • Tactical Tetris: You’ll need to arrange your gear mid-run to unlock game-breaking combinations.
    • Dynamic Builds: Because you buy and upgrade items during the fight, your strategy has to evolve as the waves get thicker.

“Every run is different. Every build can break the game.” — Flying Capybara

    Why It’s on Our Radar

The indie scene is currently saturated with Vampire Survivors clones, but Super Galaxy Gladiator stands out by demanding more than just “walking in circles.” The marriage of frantic action with the thoughtful, puzzle-like inventory systems (reminiscent of titles like Backpack Hero) adds a layer of depth that the genre often lacks.

Plus, let’s be honest: playing as a gladiator backed by a studio named Flying Capybara is an immediate vibe check passed.

    How to Play

If you’re ready to test your mettle in the arena, keep an eye on the Steam Next Fest in June 2026. The developers have confirmed a demo release for May, so you won’t have to wait long to start stacking those galactic synergies.

Wishlist it now on Steam to stay updated on the official launch date.

  • One Girl, One Gun, One Recording: Better Than Dead Hits Steam on May 12th

One Girl, One Gun, One Recording: Better Than Dead Hits Steam on May 12th

If you thought the “bodycam” shooter craze had peaked, MicroProse and developer Monte Gallo are here to prove there is still plenty of room for gritty, hyper-realistic violence. The legendary publisher has officially announced that their brutal tactical FPS, Better Than Dead, is set to storm onto PC via Steam Early Access on May 12, 2026.

To mark the announcement, a visceral new trailer has been released, showcasing the game’s uncompromising aesthetic and “one-and-done” lethality.

Gritty Realism Meets Hong Kong Cinema

While titles like Bodycam and Unrecord paved the way for the perspective, Better Than Dead carves out its own identity by leaning heavily into the vibe of classic 80s and 90s Hong Kong action cinema. Think John Woo’s kinetic energy meets the raw, uncomfortable footage of a police chest-cam.

You play as a survivor on a relentless path of revenge. There’s no sprawling open world or convoluted RPG mechanics here; this is a game built on immediacy and tension.

    Key Features to Expect:

    • Tactical Bodycam Perspective: A photorealistic, grounded visual style that makes every corner feel claustrophobic and every gunshot feel deafening.
    • Brutal, Decisive Combat: In Better Than Dead, encounters are short and unforgiving. Movement and reaction time are everything—hesitate for a second, and it’s game over.
    • Iconic Urban Settings: Fight through neon-drenched restaurants, cramped apartments, seedy nightclubs, and rain-slicked rooftops across a meticulously detailed Hong Kong.
    • Full Campaign at Launch: Unlike many Early Access titles that launch with a skeleton crew of content, the May 12 release features a full campaign spanning 14 handcrafted levels.

    The Path to “Heaven”

MicroProse has confirmed that the game will remain in Early Access for roughly 6 to 12 months. During this time, Monte Gallo plans to refine the gunplay based on player feedback and eventually introduce a “hardcore” second mode titled To Heaven, which will include additional levels and the game’s “true” ending.

“Encounters are short, unforgiving, and decisive. Mistakes are costly. Success is earned.” — MicroProse

If you’re ready to record every second of your revenge, you can head over to the Better Than Dead Steam page right now to add it to your wishlist.

Mark your calendars for May 12—it’s time to show the world what they did to you.

What do you think of the bodycam genre? Is the Hong Kong setting enough to make this a day-one purchase for you? Let us know in the comments!

  • From Small Project to Undead Giant: Be My Horde Surpasses 100,000 Copies Sold!

From Small Project to Undead Giant: Be My Horde Surpasses 100,000 Copies Sold!

What started as a modest experimental project at Polished Games has officially spiralled into a breakout indie success. This week, the studio announced that their “reverse bullet-hell” necromancy sim, Be My Horde, has officially surpassed 100,000 copies sold on Steam.

It’s a staggering achievement for a game that was originally intended to be a simple one-year learning project with an initial sales goal of just 10,000 units. Instead, the game has captured the hearts (and souls) of the roguelite community, growing its development team from three people to fourteen in the process.

Why Is Everyone Joining the Horde?

In a genre often defined by dodging thousands of projectiles, Be My Horde flips the script. You play as Moriana, a “charmingly cruel” necromancer who doesn’t just kill enemies—she recruits them. Every fallen foe, from lowly peasants to mighty knights (and even the occasional explosive sheep), can be resurrected to join your ever-growing mass of undead chaos.

The game’s success can be traced back to several key pillars:

The Power Trip: Unlike other survivors, where you feel constantly hunted, Be My Horde makes you the hunter. Watching a small squad grow into a screen-filling tide of death is immensely satisfying.

Constant Evolution: The massive “Welcome to Hell” update in May 2025 famously doubled the game’s lifetime sales in just two weeks, proving that Polished Games knows exactly how to listen to player feedback.

The “Horde Reborn” Foundation: The most recent major update overhauled the meta-progression and HUD, setting the stage for the game’s final push toward version 1.0.

    What’s Next for Moriana?

Crossing the 100k mark isn’t the finish line—it’s a nitro boost. Polished Games has confirmed they are now refining the core systems for a full 1.0 release planned for Q1 2027.

Upcoming features on the roadmap include:

Reworked Minion Movement: Better physics to ensure your horde surrounds enemies instead of just “pushing” them.

Expanded Story: New dialogue and lore to flesh out Moriana’s past (voiced by the talented Amber Lee Connors).

Advanced Meta-Progression: A deeper talent tree and more impactful perks to keep the “one more run” feeling alive.

“We don’t create Be My Horde for investors or publishers, but for ourselves and fellow gamers,” the team shared in their latest update. “Without harsh deadlines and with quality as our indicator, Early Access has allowed us to thoroughly polish the experience.”

Be My Horde is available now on Steam, and if you haven’t yet experienced the joy of turning a kingdom into your personal zombie army, there’s never been a better time to jump in.

  • Get Your Tokens Ready: Arcade Adventure ‘The Coin Game’ 1.0 Launches Today on PC and Consoles

Get Your Tokens Ready: Arcade Adventure ‘The Coin Game’ 1.0 Launches Today on PC and Consoles

If you’ve ever spent an entire afternoon (and your weekly allowance) chasing the high of a ticket jackpot, your dream game has finally arrived in its final form. After seven years of development and a legendary run in Early Access, The Coin Game 1.0 officially launches today, March 19, 2026.

While PC players on Steam have been enjoying the neon-soaked delights of Islandville for a while, today marks a massive milestone: the game is making its long-awaited debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

    More Than Just a Simulation

Developed by solo dev Kevin Westendorf (devotid) and published by Kwalee, The Coin Game isn’t just a simple arcade port. It’s a sprawling open-world sandbox where the arcade is the heart, but the island is the playground.

The 1.0 update is more than a simple “exit” from Early Access; it’s a complete engine overhaul. The game has been rebuilt in an updated version of Unity, bringing:

Massive Performance Boosts: Faster loading times and smoother frame rates across the board.

New Locations: More spots to explore and spend those hard-earned tickets.

New Vehicles: Navigate the island in style with expanded transport options.

Survivor Mode Expansion: New side quests and the “Transport Phonebooth” feature to help you manage your arcade-dwelling lifestyle.

Play Your Way: Birthday vs. Survivor

What makes The Coin Game stand out is how it treats the player. You can choose your vibe:

Birthday Mode: Total relaxation. Uncle Phil provides unlimited cash, so you can just enjoy the 50+ realistic machines without worrying about the bill.

Survivor Mode: For those who want the “struggling arcade rat” experience. You’ll need to manage health and energy, deliver newspapers, or scavenge for spare change just to get one more round on the claw machine.

“I hope players enjoy this highly optimised version… As with everything in The Coin Game, the ending is never 100% finished—I’ll always be adding to it and tweaking it. It’s just too much fun,” says developer Kevin Westendorf.

    Launch Deals

To celebrate the 1.0 release, Steam players can grab a 25% launch discount during the first week. Additionally, there’s an “Ultimate Arcade Bundle” available on Steam featuring the fellow arcade hit Arcade Paradise, offering an extra 15% off for the ultimate nostalgic double-bill.

Whether you’re in it for the physics-based ticket redemption or the quirky robot NPCs, today is the perfect day to start your collection of oversized stuffed animals and plastic rings.

  • The Trial is Open: Stepping into the Twisted World of Side Effects

The Trial is Open: Stepping into the Twisted World of Side Effects

Free Lives, the South African studio known for the explosive patriotism of Broforce, the ludicrous VR combat of GORN, and the beautiful restoration of Terra Nil, has a knack for surprising players. Their latest venture, Side Effects (published by Free Lives, developed by hirohun, Mr.Pootsley, Jaybooty, and Lofar42), is a sharp turn into psychological strategy and nerve-wracking chance, delivering an experience that is equal parts dark, compelling, and utterly ruthless.

This is not a game about healing. This is a game about outlasting.

    A Game of Medical Roulette

Side Effects is a tense, turn-based strategy game built around the high-stakes concept of “pill roulette,” drawing clear inspiration from the success of games like Buckshot Roulette. The premise is simple but chilling: you are a test subject in a grim medical trial, and only one patient will walk away.

The core gameplay loop is a brutal dance of deduction and luck:

    1. The Dose: Each round, you and your opponent(s) face a selection of pills. These come in different colors, but their effects are masked. You must choose a pill to consume, knowing one of them might mean instant death.
    2. Resistance is Key: You start with a limited Resistance (your health bar). Pills can be helpful (restoring resistance), harmful (lowering it), or, most terrifyingly, instantly fatal. Zero resistance means you lose the trial.
    3. The Bluff: Since the pills are shuffled and their effects unknown to the opponent, the game becomes a psychological battle. Does your opponent’s confident choice mean they know it’s a safe pill, or are they bluffing to push you into taking a fatal dose?

    Experimental Items: Shifting the Odds

What prevents Side Effects from being a purely random coin flip is the introduction of Experimental Items. Between rounds, players can strategically select items that offer temporary advantages or allow for powerful manipulation of the pill pool.

These items are where the real strategy—and betrayal—comes into play:

    • Vaccines to protect yourself from a harmful effect.
    • Mouth Clamps to restrict an opponent’s pill choice.
    • Hammers to destroy a pill, letting you eliminate a known threat or, more often, a known safe pill to raise the stakes for your opponent.
    • Syringes to reverse or reveal effects.

Mastering these tools is essential. A well-timed use of an item can completely flip the odds and turn a doomed round into a decisive victory, putting it on par with the strategic depth of card games.

    Dark Aesthetics and Psychological Horror

True to Free Lives’ history of edgy and provocative titles, Side Effects leans heavily into a dark, surreal aesthetic. The environment is a cold, sterile, and unsettling hospital room, and the first-person perspective keeps the tension squarely on your choices and the reaction of the patient across the table.

The psychological horror doesn’t just come from the risk of death, but from the realization that to survive, you must actively plot to make your opponent take the deadly pill. It’s a clean, clinical setting for a dirty, cutthroat game.

    Final Verdict: A Tense Must-Play

Side Effects is a fantastic addition to the emerging “roulette-style” genre. It takes the terrifying luck of the draw and wraps it in a strategic layer of item management, bluffing, and deduction.

If you enjoy fast-paced strategy games, the tension of a high-risk gamble, and a dark sense of humor, this is a prescription you should definitely fill. It’s a testament to the developers’ ability to take a simple mechanic and build a deeply compelling, anxiety-inducing experience.

  • Deceive, Bluff, and Explode: Why You Need to Play Cut That Wire

Deceive, Bluff, and Explode: Why You Need to Play Cut That Wire

Gather your most trustworthy—and most suspicious—friends, because the latest social deduction game, Cut That Wire, is here to test your friendships with a literal ticking time bomb. This isn’t your average party game; it’s a high-stakes, first-person multiplayer experience where one wrong snip means instant, comedic, and explosive doom.

If you love the tense backstabbing of games like Among Us or Werewolf but wish they had more bomb-defusal pressure, this is the game for you.

Strapped to a Chair, Four Wires, One Imposter

The premise is as dark as it is hilarious: you and three other players are strapped to chairs, each with a ticking time bomb strapped to your chest by a psychopath. There are four wires attached to your bomb, but only one is the dead wire that leads to instant detonation.

Among the four of you, one player is secretly the Imposter, whose goal is not to cut the bomb, but to trick everyone else into cutting the wrong wire or simply letting the clock run out.

The Gameplay Loop: Bluffing and Bombs

The core of Cut That Wire revolves around two critical phases: the Big Bluff Mini-Games and the Deadly Vote & Cut.

    1. The Big Bluff Games

Each round kicks off with a mini-game designed to gather “clues” and provide a perfect opportunity for the Imposter to sow chaos. These games test quick thinking and deception:

    • Big Bluff Drawing: Players sketch from a prompt, but the Imposter has a completely different prompt and must bluff their way through their mismatched art.
    • Big Bluff Picture: Everyone views an image and answers questions about it, but the Imposter sees a different picture, forcing them to lie and manipulate details to stay convincing.

These games are your chance to spot the Imposter’s suspicious behaviour—or, if you are the Imposter, to expertly feed the group false information.

    2. The Deadly Vote & Cut

After the mini-game, the real tension begins. The group must vote on who they believe is the Imposter.

    • The chosen player then faces a crucial choice: they must cut a wire.
    • They flip a coin to determine if they are cutting a wire on their own bomb or forcing someone else to cut one of theirs.

There is one crucial role: the Engineer. This victim can see one safe wire on a bomb. They must try to steer the group towards the correct wire, but convincing a room full of people facing their own imminent explosion is easier said than done! The Imposter, of course, knows which wires are lethal and will manipulate the group into making a fatal mistake.

With the master timer counting down the entire time, every decision is a race against the clock.

Why You Should Cut That Wire

Cut That Wire is a perfect fit for anyone looking to crank up the stakes in their social deduction sessions. It’s a riot of dark humour, cartoonish violence, and heart-pounding tension that makes every round feel like a frantic escape room.

If you’re ready to test how much you truly trust your friends when their life is in your hands—and vice-versa—then it’s time to take a seat, grab the cutters, and try to survive.

Cut That Wire: 4 Hostages in a Room and Boom! is out now and ready to detonate your next game night.

  • Survivor On Castaway Island

    Survivor On Castaway Island

For some being stranded on a tropical island sounds like a piece of heaven, while for others it could be a nightmare. However, this is not an ordinary island as there are other survivors, but working together is not the priority as it is a competition to become the last survivor on the island, play the game and survive the island.

This is a bit like those TV series that put a group of people together and see what happens, normally you find that they split off in groups or just go it alone, but at the end of the day, it is better to keep your head down and get on with the job of surviving on the island, otherwise you might end up being voted off the island forever.
