It has officially been six months since NetEase and Everstone Studio unleashed Where Winds Meet into the wild, bringing its breathtaking, high-flying brand of open-world Wuxia action to ARPG fans. To celebrate this milestone, the developers are doing much more than just throwing a party—they’ve unveiled a massive content roadmap that signals a bright, feature-stuffed future for the Jianghu.
From a colossal new region to highly requested life-simulation systems, here is everything coming to Where Winds Meet in the weeks and months ahead.
Welcome to the Imperial Palace (Late May)
Following the epic conclusion of the Hexi narrative arc, players are about to take a direct trip to the heart of the empire. Dropping in late May, the game’s second major expansion, Imperial Palace, unlocks a meticulously crafted 1-million-square-meter royal court.
Imperial Palace Expansion At A Glance:
??? Map Size: 1,000,000 square meters (Comparable to Kaifeng)
??? Scale: Over 3,000 fully interactive NPCs
??? Gameplay: Multi-faction politics, rooftop parkour, and... slapping competitions.
Normally forbidden territory, this massive zone will allow players to peek behind the curtain of royal life, engage in rooftop palace chases, and untangle a complex web of intersecting factions and deep-seated conspiracies. It even features gorgeous dual-season landscapes, showcasing the palace grounds in both spring and winter.
The Road Ahead: Gauntlets, Homesteads, and Companions
Everstone Studio isn’t stopping at a new map. The half-anniversary roadmap outlines a steady stream of game-changing features rolling out over the summer and the rest of 2026:
- The Homesteads System (June): Ready to lay down your sword and pick up a hoe? Players can finally establish their own sanctuary back in Qinghe. You’ll be able to build, farm, and live out your dreams as a hidden martial arts master.
- New Weapon Type – Gauntlets (Summer): If you prefer your combat visceral and up-close, the upcoming Gauntlets weapon class will introduce a brand-new martial arts path dedicated to fist-to-flesh brawling.
- Furry Companions: A new Companion System is officially in development, promising to bring adorable animal sidekicks to accompany you on your travels across ancient China.
- New PVE and Exploration Modes: Group up for the Martial Path Domain, an intense new 5-player cooperative PVE raid. Alternatively, players can dive into pitch-black ancient tombs in a high-stakes, competitive exploration mode to hunt down legendary loot.
Ongoing Festivities & Freebies
If you log in right now, the half-anniversary celebration is already underway. Everstone Studio has kicked off the Sandstorm Tavern event (running until June 5th), allowing players to adopt a secret identity, play minigames, and earn exclusive materials and titles.
Best of all? The developers are giving away three premium outfits for free during the event.
Additionally, on May 19th, a limited-edition Panda Cosmetic will launch in the shop for 60 Echo Beads (approx. $0.99 USD), with the cute outfit designed to raise global awareness for wildlife protection.
Developer Commitment: Alongside the content drop, Everstone revealed they have implemented over 100 optimizations over the last two months—addressing everything from gear progression and PvP balance to controller mapping and global server deployments (including new servers for Australia, South America, and the Middle East).
Whether you’re in it for the political intrigue of the royal family, the upcoming player housing, or just want to punch bosses with the new Gauntlets, Where Winds Meet is making sure the adventure won’t be stalling anytime soon.
