“A Day in the Mind” about what the user experience of the future could look like for brain-computer interfaces (BCI) as well as hosted an expert panel to discuss the video as well as the larger implications of BCIs in general.
The panel “Designing for your thoughts: An open conversation about the implications of Brain-Computer Interfaces” – included the likes of -Tom Waller, SVP Advanced Innovation, Chief Science Officer at lululemon, Afshin Mehin, Design Director at Card79; Ario Jafarzadeh, Head Of Design (Player Experience) at Roblox; Austin Magin, Marketing Coordinator at Card79; and Sebastian Gier, Curator & Host of Designdrives.org and Senior Designer at BMW Group – took a deep dive to discuss, challenge, and understand how the latest design disruptor – BCIs – will shape the world.
The mind is a mysterious place. Its inner workings are still a relative mystery for scientists. Having said that, the field of Neurotechnology is moving extremely quickly and making leaps and bounds in building out hardware, software and companies to explore these new ideas. As a design studio focused on seeing into the future, we want to be part of that exploration.
Over the last 6 months, we’ve been developing out a point of view about what the user experience for a brain-computer interface could look like in the coming decades. We’re excited to share with you the first of many future experiments in this space. It’s a short video that takes us through a day in the mind of someone living in 2046 with a BCI.
