Studies show that the fine line between power and privilege is often fluctuating. To find the most privileged countries, some important factors such as safety and health facilities for the people and career opportunities were evaluated. This study was conducted by ABCD agency and completed in July 2021.
All 37 member states of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, India, Russia, Singapore and South Africa were included in the research to find the most privileged countries in the world.
Here are the 4 major fields of investigation and the top scoring countries–
- Career Opportunities– In this aspect researchers evaluated the quality of the working environment, long-term unemployment, population with tertiary education, social mobility, and GDP per capita.
Norway scored 100 out of 100, where social mobility is highest, and youth unemployment is lowest. Denmark followed next with a score of 96.57. The other 3 top rankers were Iceland at 93.81, Luxembourg at 90.84 and Switzerland at 87.26.
- Liberty and Life Satisfaction- This includes gender equality, human rights, general life satisfaction scale, and passport strength.
Here again, Norway took away the number 1 spot with a score of 100, where it ranks highest on the scale for general life satisfaction. With a score of 99.85, Denmark came second highest, followed by Finland at 98.32, Luxembourg at 98.18 and Switzerland at 97.96.
- Health and safety- It includes road safety, homicides, life expectancy, air pollution, and social benefits to households.
Canada came in first position with a 100 score in this aspect. The second place holder was France with 98.64. The next 3 top contenders were Spain with 98.27, Italy with 97.74 and Norway with 97.34.
- Finances- In this major aspect, they evaluated the population in terms of disposable income of households per capita, the median wealth of adults, and the number of USD dollars millionaires.
Switzerland took the spot here due to its high percentage (11.8%) of millionaires by percentage of adult population. It also scored highest for the median wealth of adults. The other 4 top position holders for finances were Australia, Iceland, the United States and Luxembourg.
