Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the follow-up to Zachary Levi’s 2019 blockbuster that introduced the classic kid-turned-superhero character to moviegoers worldwide is currently filming. It’ll likely be a while before we see an actual teaser or trailer from the movie—particularly since it’s not due to hit theatres until 2023—though we have gotten some thrilling news regarding the movie throughout the course of the year, all the same. There was the announcement that no less than Helen Mirren would be playing the villainous goddess Hespera and she was soon joined by Lucy Liu in the role of Kalypso, her sister. Not long after the cameras started rolling, Levi and director David F. Sandberg shared a small, humorous tease of Shazam’s new costume in the film that makes it clear the lighthearted, humorous tone of the first movie will remain firmly in place in the sequel. However, for fans excited to see Billy Batson return with his full family alongside him, it’s likely today’s update from Sandberg was nothing short of electrifying as the director gave us our first glimpse of the heroic Shazam Family, on set in their updated costumes.
