Unlock PDF files. Remove PDF password.

It is always important to keep our information safe and secure, and in the age we live in, that is becoming more and more true. There is always a worry about identity theft, corporate espionage, or companies getting our data and using it or even selling it online. So it is vital to secure your data, but what about when we want to lessen some of these controls, there are some ways to do this. It is often a good idea to password protect our documents but eventually, we might want to share those documents with others and this means that it might not be the best to have them password protected. So the question arises, how does one remove a password from a password-protected PDF file?

There are a few ways to remove passwords and unlock a PDF file, but first, it is important to know about PDF passwords and how they protect the information within the document. PDFs use encryption and password protection to limit access to the information which is great since it keeps it away from potential negative actors. The PDF security mechanisms, while very useful are not full proof and there are ways to remove them, even without a password so you should still have some alternative protection on your device that safeguards it from viruses or malware which could potentially compromise your data.

How to remove passwords from PDF files?

There are many potential reasons why someone might want to remove a password from a PDF file. Firstly, it might no longer be necessary. While it might have been useful to add a password at some point it might be an obstruction later, taking potential time and limiting the usage by others. It is better to remove a password when sharing the document rather than sharing your password since the person might use this information later and if you use the same password for different things then they might be able to use this information for other reasons. Secondly, you might have forgotten your password! oh no! It is awful but it happens sadly. We all can be forgetful, but what to do when an important work document or contract is locked in? That is when a password remover might be useful. There are a lot of reasons both practical and personal to want to remove a password from a PDF file, but how do we do that?

This depends on a variety of factors, but the first option would be to simply go through the same route as you did making the password and simply deleting it and removing the password. This will require that you already know the password though as there is an obvious authentication process when deleting passwords. Alternatively, there are different websites (some free, some not) that can remove passwords for you, provided you state that you are the owner of the file. Always remember what your password is but also do not make it the same as your email or other accounts.

Firstly, you should find a PDF unlocking service such as Smallpdf and go to their site. Usually, you will be given the option to upload a PDF from your device. You should never attempt to remove the password from a PDF file you do not have permission to access as this is private material.
