  • Gear Up, Vault Hunters: Raid Boss 2 Hits Borderlands 4 This May!

Gear Up, Vault Hunters: Raid Boss 2 Hits Borderlands 4 This May!

If you thought you’d finally conquered the wilds of Kairos, think again. Gearbox has officially confirmed that Raid Boss 2—the dual-threat encounter featuring Subjugator and Thol the Invincible—is set to arrive in Borderlands 4 on May 28.

Best of all? It’s part of the Version 1.7 update, which is completely free for all players. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming mayhem.

Double the Trouble: Subjugator and Thol

While the first raid boss, Bloomreaper, was a solo test of endurance, Raid Boss 2 ups the ante by throwing two bosses at you simultaneously. These fearsome foes are described as the “Timekeeper’s lackeys,” and they’ll require more than just raw DPS to take down. Expect complex mechanics that will test your team’s coordination and your build’s survivability.

    New Loot Tiers and Rewards

You aren’t just going into the meat grinder for the glory; the rewards for this encounter are top-tier. Gearbox has teased a suite of new gear arriving with the update:

    • 1 New Pearlescent Weapon: The ultra-rare tier returns, offering power that eclipses even your favourite Legendaries.
    • 4 New Legendary Items: Fresh tools for your arsenal to help shake up the meta.
    • 5 New Class Mods: One bespoke mod for every Vault Hunter, including the recently released C4SH the Rogue.
    • 1 New Firmware: A new endgame item type to further refine your character’s stats.

UVHM Level 7: The Ultimate Test

For those who find the current endgame a walk in the park, Version 1.7 is also introducing Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM) Level 7. This increases the difficulty ceiling yet again, scaling enemy health and damage to punishing new heights. If you’re planning to farm Subjugator and Thol on this difficulty, you’d better have your “True Mode” settings dialled in.

    How to Prepare

To access the Raid Boss 2 encounter, you must have completed the main story campaign. If you’re still working through the Whispering Glacier or catching up on the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC, now is the time to wrap those up.

Pro-Tip: Gearbox suggests hitting the current level cap and optimizing your gear before May 28, as this encounter scales to your party size but is designed to be one of the toughest challenges in the game to date.

    What’s Next for Borderlands 4?

The momentum doesn’t stop in May. Following the Version 1.7 update, June is looking equally packed. We can expect:

    • Version 1.8 (Late June): A new free Takedown raid.
    • Bounty Pack 3: A new paid DLC dropping the same day as the Takedown.

Stay tuned to TechMash for the full patch notes when Version 1.7 drops on May 28. Until then, keep hunting those Vaults!

Are you ready to take on the Subjugator, or do you need a few more Legendary drops first? Let us know your favourite Vault Hunter build in the comments!

  • Madness Awaits: Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1 Revealed

Madness Awaits: Borderlands 4 Story Pack 1 Revealed

Grab your goggles and check your shields, Vault Hunters! Gearbox and 2K have finally pulled back the curtain on the first major expansion for Borderlands 4. Titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, this Story Pack is trading the dusty plains of Pandora for something a bit more… chilling.

Set to launch on March 26, 2026, this isn’t just a handful of side missions. We’re talking a full-scale campaign, a new region, and the introduction of the game’s first DLC Vault Hunter.

    Welcome to The Whispering Glacier

The expansion takes us to a brand-new corner of the planet Kairos: The Whispering Glacier. This isn’t your average winter wonderland; it’s a frozen graveyard littered with derelict ships and “pulsating growths of flesh.”

The story leans heavily into cosmic horror. You’ll be teaming up with the legendary mechanic Ellie and the delightfully creepy Mancubus Bloodtooth to hunt down an alien monolith. According to Gearbox, the atmosphere is darker and bloodier than the base game, focusing on a malicious entity threatening the region.

    High Stakes with C4SH

The biggest draw for many will be C4SH, the new playable Vault Hunter. A former casino dealer bot turned rogue gambler, C4SH’s gameplay revolves around risk and reward.

Action Skill: Sleight of Hand – C4SH draws from a randomised deck of cards to cast spells and unleash havoc.

Playstyle: High mobility and explosive damage.

Availability: He’s playable across the entire base game and the new DLC.

    What’s in the Box?

If you’re looking for loot and a challenge, Story Pack 1 is packed:

Bosses Galore: Two major world bosses and 16 mini-bosses.

New Rarity: The return of Pearlescent gear, offering power levels beyond Legendaries.

Endgame Mechanic: “Nightmare Rifts”—a system that warps players into a nightmare dimension to fight random bosses for top-tier loot.

Customisation: 28 new cosmetics, including skins for your Vault Hunter, vehicles, and the new ECHO-4.

    Quality of Life: Shared Progression

Alongside the DLC, Gearbox is dropping a massive free update that introduces shared progression. Finally, new characters on your account will inherit map progress, SDU tokens, and Hover Drive upgrades. If you want to jump straight into the DLC with C4SH, you can skip the early grind and start at level 13.

Note: Story Pack 1 is included for owners of the Super Deluxe Edition and the Vault Hunter Pack.

March 26 can’t come soon enough. Are you ready to see what’s lurking under the ice?

  • Get Ready to Wrench: Story Pack 1 is Coming!

Get Ready to Wrench: Story Pack 1 is Coming!

The winds of Kairos are getting colder, and the vault cracks are widening. Gearbox has officially pulled back the curtain on the first major expansion for Borderlands 4: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.

Prepare for a shift in tone as we leave the bright neon of the base game for something a bit more… visceral.

    What’s the Story?

This isn’t your average scrap-yard run. Ellie takes centre stage as we dive into a cosmic horror-inspired campaign. Expect a “bloody and spooky” vibe—reminiscent of Guns, Love, and Tentacles—as you explore a brand-new region of Kairos filled with eldritch artefacts and things that go “squish” in the night.

    New Vault Hunter: C4SH

The biggest draw? We’re getting a brand-new playable character!

    Name: C4SH (pronounced “Cash”).

Background: A former casino dealer robot turned drifter.

The Gimmick: He’s obsessed with probability. His three Action Skills all feature elements of chance—think throwing lethal playing cards and manipulating luck to turn the tide of battle.

  • Borderlands 4: Whispers of the Bloomreaper and a New Era of Mayhem!

Borderlands 4: Whispers of the Bloomreaper and a New Era of Mayhem!

The dust has barely settled from our last chaotic adventure, but the siren song of Pandora (or whatever new, unsuspecting planet awaits us) is already calling. While Gearbox remains tight-lipped, the rumour mill for Borderlands 4 is spinning faster than a bandit on a caffeine high. And among the whispers of new Vault Hunters and even crazier weapons, one name echoes with a chilling gravitas: Bloomreaper the Invincible.

Imagine this: you’ve fought your way through hordes of psychos, survived impossible odds, and stared down cosmic horrors. You’re a legend, a purveyor of mayhem, practically a god of destruction. And then, you meet Bloomreaper. Not just a boss, not just a raid boss, but an entity. Something that transcends the usual scale of Borderlands threats.

Who (or What) is the Bloomreaper?

The name itself conjures images of both beauty and terror. “Bloom” suggests something organic, perhaps even serene, while “Reaper” is, well, self-explanatory. Could Bloomreaper be a manifestation of the planet itself, a sentient force of nature awakened by our relentless plundering and explosive antics? Or is it something far more ancient, a cosmic gardener tending to a garden of destruction, with us as mere weeds to be pulled?

Perhaps Bloomreaper isn’t even a singular entity, but a collective consciousness, a hive mind of flora and fauna, warped and empowered by an Eridian artefact or a previously unknown cosmic phenomenon. Think of a living ecosystem, but one that has decided we are the invasive species, and it’s time for a violent eviction notice.

Beyond the Usual Vault Hunter vs. Boss Dynamic

Fighting Bloomreaper shouldn’t be your typical “shoot until it dies” encounter. This needs to be a multi-stage, world-altering event. Imagine:

    • Environmental Combat: The very arena shifts and changes around you, blooming with deadly spores, thorny vines, or even corrosive pollen. The environment itself becomes an extension of Bloomreaper’s will.
    • Strategic Vulnerabilities: Instead of just a glowing critical spot, Bloomreaper might have evolving vulnerabilities tied to its “bloom” cycle. Perhaps you need to destroy specific “roots” to weaken its shield, or collect “seeds” to create temporary safe zones.
    • Mind-Bending Mechanics: What if Bloomreaper can manipulate your perception, making you see allies as enemies, or creating illusory safe paths that lead to certain death? This would push the boundaries of Borderlands’ combat design.
    • The “Invincible” Part: This is the key. Bloomreaper shouldn’t just have a massive health bar. It needs to feel truly unkillable, at least initially. The mission might involve finding a way to contain it, seal it away, or exploit a singular, fleeting weakness that can only be triggered after a series of epic challenges. The victory might not be traditional death, but rather a hard-won stasis.

    A New Narrative Arc?

Bloomreaper could easily anchor an entire new narrative arc for Borderlands 4. What if its awakening is linked to the fallout from previous games? Could it be a natural defence mechanism of a new planet against the encroaching corporate greed of Atlas or Hyperion, now potentially resurgent?

This entity could force our new (or returning!) Vault Hunters to truly work together, to think outside the box, and to even question the very nature of their destructive lifestyle. Could we, the agents of chaos, be the very catalyst for Bloomreaper’s rise? That’s a thematic depth Borderlands could certainly explore.

Gearbox, if you’re listening (and we know you are):

Give us a villain that isn’t just big, but ancient. That isn’t just powerful, but fundamental. Give us Bloomreaper the Invincible, and a challenge that redefines what it means to be a Vault Hunter.

What do you think, fellow mayhem enthusiasts? How would you envision Bloomreaper the Invincible? Share your theories, your wildest ideas, and your desperate pleas for its inclusion in Borderlands 4 in the comments below!

  • Unpacking C4SH: Borderlands 4’s Newest Enigma and What They Bring to the Fight!

Unpacking C4SH: Borderlands 4’s Newest Enigma and What They Bring to the Fight!

Well, Vault Hunters, the ECHOnet is officially in meltdown! Following that electrifying, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser, Gearbox has finally pulled back the curtain a little more on C4SH, the newest face ready to blast their way into our hearts (and the faces of countless psychos) in what we can only assume is Borderlands 4!

While full details are still under wraps, the official reveal (and some frantic frame-by-frame analysis of the teaser) has given us a clearer picture of who C4SH is and, more importantly, what kind of mayhem they’re bringing to the Borderlands.

    C4SH: The Cybernetic Enforcer

Let’s talk aesthetics first. C4SH is a stunning blend of cybernetic augmentation and raw power. Their sleek, almost menacing armour is lined with glowing blue conduits, suggesting a constant flow of energy. The design leans heavily into a high-tech, slightly intimidating vibe, a stark contrast to some of the more rugged or outlandish designs we’ve seen in past Vault Hunters. This isn’t just someone wearing a metal suit; this is someone integrated with it.

But the real showstopper is that colossal, shock-infused gauntlet. It’s not just for show; it’s a statement. This isn’t a precision instrument; it’s a blunt force weapon designed to hit hard and leave a lasting impression (and probably a smoking crater).

    Initial Speculation: Protocol: Acquire.

The tagline “Protocol: Acquire” has us all scratching our heads and furiously typing out theories. It perfectly encapsulates the Borderlands ethos of loot, but for C4SH, it feels deeper. Is it a literal programming directive? A personal creed?

Could C4SH be a corporate retrieval specialist gone rogue? An experimental combat unit designed to “acquire” valuable assets (including, perhaps, Vaults themselves) by any means necessary? This could explain the cybernetic enhancements and the focus on raw power. Imagine a Vault Hunter who views every enemy as an obstacle to be “acquired” and every piece of loot as a successful “retrieval.”

What We Expect from C4SH’s Playstyle:

Based on their design, we can make some educated guesses about how C4SH will shake up our combat strategies:

    • Melee Dominance: That gauntlet isn’t just for show. We’re expecting C4SH to excel in close-quarters combat, delivering devastating punches, ground slams, and potentially even unique melee finishers. The shock effects could mean area-of-effect damage or debuffs for enemies caught in their electrical attacks.
    • Elemental Prowess (Shock): The glowing blue and crackling energy screams shock damage. C4SH will undoubtedly have skills and abilities that amplify electrical attacks, making them a nightmare for shielded enemies or groups of foes.
    • Resource Management/Loot Interaction: “Protocol: Acquire” strongly hints at unique ways C4SH might interact with loot, money, or other in-game resources. Could they have skills that convert currency into temporary buffs, “acquire” health from fallen enemies, or even manipulate drop rates? This could be a fascinating new layer to the Borderlands grind.
    • Durability/Tanking: With such robust armour and a focus on getting up close and personal, C4SH might lean towards a more durable, tank-like playstyle, able to soak up damage while dishing it out.

    The Bigger Picture:

C4SH’s introduction feels like a deliberate shift, hinting at a potentially more technologically advanced or even dystopian backdrop for Borderlands 4. Are we dealing with new corporate overlords even more ruthless than Hyperion? Or perhaps a new threat that necessitates such specialised, cybernetically enhanced warriors?

One thing is for sure: C4SH looks like a thrilling addition to the Borderlands pantheon. Their blend of brute force, high-tech aesthetics, and intriguing backstory promises a fresh new way to experience the chaos we all love.

What are your initial thoughts on C4SH, Vault Hunters? What kind of action skills do you envision? Let us know in the comments below! The hype train has officially left the station, and we’re ready for the ride!

  • Claptrap’s Lonely Odyssey: Why Borderlands 4 Needs to Give Him Friends

Claptrap’s Lonely Odyssey: Why Borderlands 4 Needs to Give Him Friends

Claptrap. The name alone conjures a mix of emotions for any long-time Borderlands fan. From his unyielding optimism and dance routines to his incessant jabbering and questionable advice, the Hyperion robot is a staple of the series. Yet, for all his quirks, there’s a tragic loneliness that follows him. He’s often the butt of jokes, an afterthought, or, at best, a tolerated annoyance. In the upcoming Borderlands 4, it’s time to change that. Claptrap deserves to have friends, and here’s why it’s a great opportunity for the franchise.

Giving Claptrap a proper companion, or even a small group of friends, could introduce a new layer of character development. We’ve seen him interact with the Vault Hunters, but those relationships are transactional at best. What would a genuine friendship look like for a robot that thrives on social interaction but struggles to achieve it? A friendship with someone who sees past his flaws and appreciates his unique, if sometimes maddening, personality could be a powerful narrative arc. It could humanise (or, rather, robotise) him in a way we haven’t seen before, moving him from a static gag character to a dynamic part of the story.

Furthermore, a storyline centred on Claptrap’s social life could open up new gameplay opportunities. Imagine a side mission where you have to help Claptrap build a friendship. This could involve anything from helping him find a rare part for a new dance move to mediating a misunderstanding between him and another NPC. It could also introduce new co-op mechanics. What if a player-controlled Claptrap could interact with his friends in unique ways, unlocking new abilities or dialogue options? The potential for comedic and heartfelt moments is limitless.

Finally, giving Claptrap a friend would simply be good for the soul of the game. It’s a way to reward a character who, despite everything, has been a steadfast, if not always helpful, companion to us all. His desperate attempts to connect with others have been a running joke for too long. It’s time for a new chapter. Borderlands 4 can give Claptrap what he’s always wanted: a real friend. And in doing so, it would show that even in the chaos of Pandora, everyone deserves a little happiness.
