  • The Storm Has Arrived: Shrouded Sky is Live in ARC Raiders

The Storm Has Arrived: Shrouded Sky is Live in ARC Raiders

Raiders, batten down the hatches. The latest major update for ARC Raiders, titled Shrouded Sky, is officially live as of February 24, 2026. This isn’t just a minor patch; it’s a total atmospheric shift that brings the most volatile environmental conditions we’ve seen in the Rust Belt yet.

If you haven’t dropped in since the update hit, here is everything you need to know about surviving the storm and the new threats lurking within it.

The Main Event: Hurricane Map Condition

Forget everything you know about navigating the surface. The Hurricane is now a permanent rotating map condition across Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and the Dam Battlegrounds.

    • Tactical Turbulence: The wind isn’t just a visual effect. Running with a tailwind gives you a significant speed boost, while fighting a headwind will drain your stamina and slow you to a crawl. Even your thrown items (grenades, flares) are now subject to wind trajectory.
    • Static Interference: The debris kicked up by the storm is lethal to tech. Your shields will steadily drain and glitch out if you leave them equipped for too long in the gale.
    • Low Visibility: Sound is swallowed by the wind and sightlines are cut short, making it easier to sneak up on squads—but even easier for the ARC to sneak up on you.

New ARC Threats: Fireflies and Comets

As if the weather wasn’t enough, two new ARC machines have been deployed to make your life difficult:

    1. The Firefly: An armoured flying machine that acts as a deadlier cousin to the Hornet. It emits a devastating jet of flame that can engulf a Raider in seconds.
    2. The Comet: Think of it as a “Pop” on steroids. This spherical machine honks (yes, honks) as it locks onto you, relentlessly chasing you down before detonating with a massive seismic boom.

    Seasonal Project & Progression

    • The Weather Monitoring System: A new five-stage Seasonal Player Project is available until March 31. You’ll need to brave the hurricanes to scavenge components for a monitoring system. Completion nets you 250 Raider Tokens and the exclusive Anemometer Backpack Charm.
    • The Surgeon Raider Deck: A new free progression track is now available. It includes the surgeon-inspired outfit, new cosmetic toggles, and—highly requested by the community—facial hair customisation options.

    Meta Shift: Weapon Balancing

Embark Studios has also shaken up the gunplay. Popular “low-tier” weapons that were overperforming in PvP have seen some nerfs, while legendary weapons got some much-needed love:

    • The Stitcher & Kettle: Both received damage and headshot multiplier reductions to bring their Time-to-Kill (TTK) in line with other gear.
    • The Jupiter & Aphelion: These legendary rifles received buffs to their handling and reload speeds, making them much more viable for high-stakes encounters.

    What’s Next: Expedition 2

The Second Expedition window opens today, February 25! Embark has listened to feedback regarding the grind: the required stash value for maximum rewards has been lowered to 3 million Coins (down from 5 million). Plus, if you missed out on skill points during the first Expedition, a new catch-up system allows you to earn those missed points now.

Pro-Tip: Keep an eye out for the new interactive pianos scattered around residential areas. Sometimes you just need to play a tune while the world ends around you.

  • Milestone Revives 90s Classic ‘Screamer’ as Futuristic Anime Racer

Milestone Revives 90s Classic ‘Screamer’ as Futuristic Anime Racer

Milestone, the veteran studio behind Hot Wheels Unleashed and MotoGP, has unveiled a fresh look at its upcoming reimagining of the 1995 cult classic, Screamer. Moving away from its MS-DOS roots, the 2026 revival is a high-octane “arcade ecosystem” that blends illegal street racing with tactical vehicle combat and a striking 90s-inspired anime aesthetic.

Scheduled for release on March 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game is set in a dystopian future where five rival teams—including the newly revealed Strike Force Romanda and Green Reapers—compete in a lethal tournament overseen by a mysterious figure known only as “Mr. A.”

The “Echo” System: Racing Meets Fighting

At the heart of Screamer is the Echo System, a tech-driven gameplay mechanic that forces players to balance two resources:

    • Sync: Earned through “Active Shifts” (perfectly timed manual gear changes), Sync can be spent on high-speed Boosts or defensive Shields.
    • Entropy: Generated by using Sync, this resource fuels offensive actions like Strikes—violent bursts used to KO opponents—and the high-risk Overdrive mode.

In Overdrive, vehicles become nearly invincible and incredibly fast, but there’s a catch: any collision with the environment results in an instant, fatal explosion.

    Diverse Modes and Cinematic Storytelling

Milestone is leaning heavily into narrative, collaborating with the renowned Japanese studio Polygon Pictures to produce over 30 minutes of anime cutscenes. The story features a heavy-hitting voice cast, including Troy Baker and Aleks Le.

Beyond the main campaign, the game features several distinct modes:

    • Team Races: Rankings are determined by a mix of finish position and enemy KOs.
    • Overdrive Challenge: A survival-focused mode where the dangerous Overdrive state is permanently active.
    • Score Challenge: A run-based mode rewarding drifting and precision.
    • Multiplayer: Support for 16-player online cross-play and 4-player local split-screen.

    Pre-Order and Early Access

Digital pre-orders are now live across all platforms. Fans who opt for the Digital Deluxe Edition can jump into the action three days early, with Advanced Access starting March 23, 2026.

“Screamer isn’t just about being the fastest anymore,” says Milestone. “It’s about survival, strategy, and finding your reason to race in a world that wants to see you crash.”

  • In Search of the Ice Pop: A Short Visual Novel of Modern Melancholy and Forgotten Memories

In Search of the Ice Pop: A Short Visual Novel of Modern Melancholy and Forgotten Memories

In the world of indie games, where massive open worlds and cutting-edge graphics often dominate the conversation, there is a quiet beauty to the narrative-focused, pixel-art experience. This is precisely what solo developer Guanpeng Chen delivers with his newest project: “In Search of the Ice Pop.”

Just announced with its Steam page launch, this short visual novel promises to be a poignant journey back through time, exploring themes of modern melancholy, forgotten connections, and the powerful pull of a simple childhood memory.

The Premise: An Unexpected Nostalgia Trip

The game’s setting is a suffocating summer night in modern society. We follow the life of a young, aspiring writer grappling with a sense of hopelessness. It’s on his way to a convenience store shift—a common, almost mundane experience—that a memory strikes him: a forgotten ice pop, and the “big sis” who took him to the arcade some 15 years ago.

This is the core of the quest. It’s not an epic adventure, but a deeply personal, internal one: Where is she now?

The narrative is positioned as “a story of modern melancholy,” suggesting a gentle, perhaps bittersweet exploration of adult disappointment contrasted with the bright, vivid simplicity of youth.

The Vibe: Pixel Art Meets Strong Narrative

Guanpeng Chen is no stranger to crafting powerful stories through pixel art, having previously released the “pixel art × strong narrative” title, Booth: A Dystopian Adventure. He returns to this style, using the medium to evoke a specific sense of nostalgia and atmosphere.

    • Visual Style: Expect rich, evocative pixel art that brings the everyday settings—the convenience store, the city streets—to life with a dreamy, almost wistful quality.
    • Genre: Classified as an Adventure/Visual Novel, the focus will undoubtedly be on the text, dialogue, and emotional resonance rather than complex gameplay mechanics.
    • The Theme: This isn’t just about an ice pop; it’s a metaphor for a cherished moment, a lost connection, and a simpler time that the main character is trying to recapture in a difficult present.

If you enjoy games that prioritize a strong, emotional narrative and beautiful, retro-inspired aesthetics, this is one to keep firmly on your radar.

Why You Should Watch This Space

In an era of endless content, the promise of a short, nostalgic visual novel is incredibly appealing. It offers a focused, memorable experience that respects the player’s time while delivering a powerful emotional punch.

“In Search of the Ice Pop” is a testament to the power of solo indie development and narrative art. We can’t wait to dive into this quest for a forgotten friendship and the bittersweet taste of memory.

“In Search of the Ice Pop” currently has its Steam store page live, and while the official release date is yet to be announced, you can wishlist it now to be the first to know when this melancholic journey begins!

  • M.U.T.E. Protocol: Flesh & Metal – A Sci-Fi Thrill Ride Returns to Rainbow Six Siege!

M.U.T.E. Protocol: Flesh & Metal – A Sci-Fi Thrill Ride Returns to Rainbow Six Siege!

Rainbow Six Siege is no stranger to shaking things up with its limited-time events, and few have made as much of an impact as the M.U.T.E. Protocol. This year, the futuristic chaos returns with “Flesh & Metal,” promising another exhilarating, high-tech twist on the tactical shooter we all love.

If you missed it the first time, M.U.T.E. Protocol plunges players into a dystopian, sci-fi setting where Operators are augmented with advanced technology, transforming the classic Siege formula into something truly unique. Flesh & Metal takes that concept and cranks it up to eleven, delivering a visually stunning and gameplay-rich experience.

What’s New in Flesh & Metal?

While the core M.U.T.E. experience remains, Flesh & Metal introduces some exciting refinements and a fresh aesthetic. We’re talking about a world where the line between human and machine is blurred, reflected in the fantastic new operator skins and weapon cosmetics that are available. These aren’t just simple retextures; they truly embody the “flesh and metal” theme, giving Operators a distinctly robotic or heavily augmented appearance.

One of the standout features of M.U.T.E. Protocol is the respawn mechanic. Yes, you heard that right – respawns in Rainbow Six Siege! This immediately sets it apart from the tense, one-life-per-round standard. It allows for a more frantic, action-packed experience, encouraging aggressive play and daring manoeuvres without the immediate consequence of being out of the round for good.

The event also features a unique game mode, often involving a twist on securing a central objective or a specific data packet. Defenders might be trying to protect a server while Attackers are attempting to upload a virus. The objective is clear, but the methods are anything but conventional thanks to the unique operator abilities and the revamped map.

    The Map: A Cybernetic Wonderland

The iconic Tower map gets a complete overhaul for M.U.T.E. Protocol, transforming it into a high-tech facility buzzing with neon lights and holographic displays.

Traversing this futuristic playground feels fresh and exciting, even for veteran players who know the original Tower like the back of their hand. Expect new pathways, redesigned bomb sites, and plenty of visual flair that makes every gunfight feel like it’s straight out of a cyberpunk movie.

    Why Play Flesh & Metal?

    • A Breath of Fresh Air: If you’re looking for a break from the intense, competitive grind of ranked Siege, M.U.T.E. Protocol offers a fantastic alternative. It’s still tactical, but the respawns and unique abilities create a more forgiving and often hilarious experience.
    • Stunning Aesthetics: The art direction for Flesh & Metal is top-notch. From the Operator skins to the redesigned map, everything screams “futuristic warzone.” Collecting the event-exclusive packs for these cosmetics is a huge draw for many.
    • Unique Gameplay Mechanics: The M.U.T.E. Protocol abilities, like the ability to instantly swap locations with a drone, add a whole new layer of strategy and unpredictability to engagements. It’s a chance to experiment with different playstyles you wouldn’t normally consider.
    • Lore Expansion (of sorts): While not directly canon, these events often provide a fun glimpse into alternative universes or hypothetical scenarios involving our favourite Operators, adding a bit of flavour to the Siege universe.

Whether you’re a long-time Siege veteran or a newcomer looking for a unique entry point, M.U.T.E. Protocol: Flesh & Metal is an event you won’t want to miss. Dive in, embrace the cybernetic chaos, and experience Rainbow Six Siege like never before!
