  • Ascending the Peaks: A Look at Dwarf Legacy

Ascending the Peaks: A Look at Dwarf Legacy

In the world of indie gaming, dwarves are often found digging deep into the earth. However, Dwarf Legacy—the upcoming precision-platformer from developer Wulo Games—flips the script by asking players to climb.

Scheduled for a Q1 2026 release, Dwarf Legacy is a high-stakes, “bullet hell” platformer that combines tight mechanical skill with a roguelite progression system. Currently available as a demo on Steam and itch.io, the game has already gained traction for its punishing difficulty and “one-more-try” gameplay loop.

    Gameplay: Precision Under Pressure

Unlike traditional platformers, where movement is horizontal, Dwarf Legacy focuses on verticality. Players must navigate the treacherous, trap-filled dungeons of “The Mountainhome” to reclaim a lost heritage hidden at the summit.

    • The Mechanics: It’s a “precision-platformer,” meaning pixel-perfect jumps and timing are mandatory. Adding to the chaos is a “bullet hell” element where enemies and mechanised traps fill the screen with projectiles.
    • The Roguelite Twist: As you climb, you gather precious resources. If you fall, you return to the expedition base, where you can use those materials to upgrade gear and unlock unique perks (over 20 available in the demo) to make the next ascent slightly more manageable.
    • Competitive Edge: For those who master the movement, the game features global leaderboards. Players are ranked from D to S, with “S-Rank” reserved for those who can clear levels with speed and efficiency (e.g., gaining time bonuses for skillful enemy kills).

    Atmospheric Design

The game utilises a crisp 2D pixel-art style that captures the claustrophobic yet grand feel of an abandoned dwarven stronghold. The environments are atmospheric, filled with mechanical contraptions and glowing ores that contrast against the dark, jagged stone of the mountain.

    Development and Reception

Dwarf Legacy is largely a solo project by developer Wulo, which recently won the Unity Play Summer Showcase 2025. Early feedback from the Steam Next Fest highlights has been overwhelmingly positive, with players praising the “tight” controls—a make-or-break feature for any precision-platformer.

  • Gooey a stretchy lab-grown hero out on Steam now

Gooey a stretchy lab-grown hero out on Steam now

Gooey is a precision physics-based platformer that has quickly gained attention for its tactile, elastic gameplay. Developed by Turbo Pixel Studios (the team behind Reflex Arena), the game challenges players to navigate a series of high-stakes laboratory environments using a protagonist made entirely of experimental green slime.

    The Premise: Science Gone Wrong

In Gooey, players take control of a sentient, lab-grown organism that has just gained consciousness. The goal is simple: escape the research facility. However, the laboratory is a gauntlet of “agility courses” filled with electric barriers, bottomless pits, and complex pipe networks designed to keep the experiment contained.

    Gameplay Mechanics: Stretch and Sling

Unlike traditional platformers, where movement is restricted to jumping and running, Gooey focuses on elasticity.

    • Slinging & Grappling: Gooey uses its sticky, stretchy limbs to latch onto surfaces and slingshot itself across gaps.
    • Physics-Driven Movement: The game utilises “Verlet physics,” allowing Gooey’s body to jiggle, stretch, and compress realistically as it interacts with the environment.
    • Fluid Interactions: Players must master sliding through high-speed tubes and bouncing off conveyor belts to maintain momentum.
    • Collectables: Completionists can hunt for the hidden “L,” “A,” and “B” letters scattered throughout each level to unlock extra “lab cred.”

    Key Features

    • 50+ Agility Courses: The base game features over 50 hand-crafted levels that scale from simple tutorials to “devious” speedrunning challenges.
    • Built-in Level Editor: Taking a page from Super Mario Maker, Gooey includes a robust level editor with Steam Workshop support, allowing the community to create and share their own gauntlets.
    • Distinct Visual Style: The game uses a custom engine featuring PBR (Physically Based Rendering) lighting, giving the “goo” a glossy, reactive look that contrasts with the clean, clinical lab backgrounds.

    Availability

    • Platforms: PC (Windows), Mac, and Nintendo Switch.
    • Price: Typically retails for $11.99 USD, though it launched with a 10% introductory discount on Steam.

Fun Fact: The developers revealed that the concept for Gooey actually began as a prototype nearly 20 years ago before being rebuilt from the ground up for its 2026 release.

  • Get Swept Away: Windswept is a Cozy Blast from the ’90s Platformer Past!

Get Swept Away: Windswept is a Cozy Blast from the ’90s Platformer Past!

For gamers who grew up on a diet of collect-a-thons and challenging 2D platformers, a new indie gem has just landed on consoles and PC that’s ready to steal your heart: Windswept. Developed by WeatherFell and published by Top Hat Studios, this game is a sincere love letter to the ’90s classics that we spent hours mastering.

But don’t let the adorable pixel art fool you—while it’s charming, the journey home for its heroes is anything but a walk in the park!

An Unlikely Duo: Marbles & Checkers

At the heart of Windswept‘s adventure are Marbles the Duck and Checkers the Turtle. This feather-shelled, tag-team duo finds themselves stranded far from home after a massive storm sweeps them away. To navigate the over 40 hand-crafted stages, you’ll need to master their unique buddy-platforming mechanic.

    • Marbles (the Duck) offers quick movement and a flutter ability for better air control.
    • Checkers (the Turtle) provides a more grounded, powerful spin attack and other specialised skills.

You can swap your leader at any time! Figuring out the best sequence of jumps, spins, and flutters between the two is the key to conquering the game’s various challenges. Think of it as a creative puzzle built into a precision platformer.

    A Collect-A-Thon for a New Generation

Windswept fully embraces the “collect-a-thon” spirit. Across five uniquely themed regions, you’ll be constantly on the lookout for hidden secrets:

    • Star Coins: Act as currency and stage guides.
    • C-O-M-E-T Coins: Collecting all five in a stage unlocks the special Moon Coin challenge, usually a timed bonus warp to a tricky mini-game.
    • Rideable Animal Friends: Much like the classics it’s inspired by, you’ll encounter friendly critters like dolphins and “licky-lizards” that grant new, temporary abilities to traverse specific parts of a level.

The game prides itself on its “old-school” approach: all abilities are taught in the first stage, and after that, there are no waypoints or tutorials. It’s just you, your skill, and a beautifully designed world waiting to be explored (and potentially re-explored to find every last hidden item!).

The Challenge is Part of the Charm

For the truly dedicated, Windswept offers a challenge that echoes the high difficulty of its inspirations, like the Donkey Kong Country series. The game is designed for players to keep trying, learning through persistence, and eventually experiencing the pure satisfaction of mastering a difficult sequence.

However, the developers have also included accessibility options, ensuring that players who want to focus on the charming story and world-building can still progress. It’s a game for everyone, whether you’re a platforming veteran hunting for a true test or a casual player looking for a cosy adventure.

Windswept is a refreshing blend of nostalgic design, clever mechanics, and genuine charm. If you’ve been searching for a modern 2D platformer that truly respects the genre’s golden age, it’s time to help Marbles and Checkers find their way home!

Windswept is available now on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series X|S.

  • Revving Up the Chaos: Why You Need to Look Out for Stunt Paradise 2!

Revving Up the Chaos: Why You Need to Look Out for Stunt Paradise 2!

If the sight of a car soaring over a ramp while dodging buzzsaws and lasers gets your adrenaline pumping, then get ready to buckle up. Stunt Paradise 2 is officially announced, and it promises to be an even wilder, more explosive ride than its predecessor!

    What is Stunt Paradise 2?

Developed by the indie team at Brinemedia, Stunt Paradise 2 is a stunt-racing platformer that takes the pure arcade madness of the first game and dials it up to eleven. Forget realistic driving simulators—this is a world where speed, chaos, and physics-defying stunts are the only rules that matter.

Think of it as the ultimate blend of extreme racing and level-based puzzle-platforming, all seen from a dynamic side-on view. It’s easy to pick up but brutally hard to master, designed for those who love the endless rush of adrenaline and don’t mind a spectacular, fiery crash or two.

New Traps, Better Graphics, Pure Insanity

The developers have listened to the community and packed the sequel with a host of new features that are sure to make every level a true challenge:

    • New Deadly Traps: Prepare to navigate brand-new obstacles like lasers, buzzsaws, mines, and rockets. The tracks are more unpredictable than ever, turning every run into a thrilling gauntlet of doom.
    • Major Visual Upgrade: The game has received a full graphical overhaul. Expect improved graphics, detailed environments, and modern shaders that make every explosion and crash more spectacular than before.
    • The Much-Requested Checkpoint System: A massive win for players! The introduction of a checkpoint system will make progression smoother and lessen the sting of those inevitable, glorious failures.
    • A Wide Variety of Cars: You’ll have access to a wide selection of vehicles, allowing you to choose the perfect ride to tackle the mayhem.
    • Driving Rock Soundtrack: The action is set to an original rock soundtrack composed by a professional guitarist, ensuring the beats match the speed and explosions on screen.

    The Ultimate Arcade Challenge

The core of Stunt Paradise 2 remains the same: accelerate, reverse, and use your car’s rotation mid-air to land perfectly after soaring off massive ramps. The goal is to reach the finish line, but the journey is an explosion of crazy jumps, flips, and near-misses.

It’s a game that encourages risk-taking and laughs at your expense, offering simple yet deep gameplay that will test even the most skilled drivers. If you’re a fan of high-octane action, physics-based challenges, and pure, non-stop fun, this is one to add to your wishlist.

Coming Soon to a Platform Near You!

Stunt Paradise 2 is currently slated for a 2026 release and is coming to a wide range of platforms, so nearly everyone can get in on the action!

    • PC (Steam)
    • Xbox
    • PlayStation
    • Nintendo Switch

  • Escaping Extinction: Why Dino Run 2 Is a Must-Watch for Indie Gamers

Escaping Extinction: Why Dino Run 2 Is a Must-Watch for Indie Gamers

Remember the frantic, pixelated rush of the original Dino Run? Fleeing the unstoppable wall of doom, snatching eggs, and desperately trying to outpace a prehistoric apocalypse? Get ready to strap on your tiny dino sneakers again, because the long-awaited sequel, Dino Run 2, is finally on the horizon and generating massive buzz!

The Return of the Doom Wall

Pixeljam, the masterminds behind the original 2008 classic, are bringing back the beloved momentum platformer in a truly massive sequel. This isn’t just a simple graphical upgrade—it’s a complete re-imagining and expansion of the formula that made the first game an indie darling.

The core premise remains the same: you’re a lone dinosaur (or one of many in multiplayer!) in a race for survival as the infamous “Doom Wall” of extinction relentlessly chases you across a dynamically generated prehistoric landscape.

What’s New in the Mesozoic Era?

Dino Run 2 is shaping up to be everything fans hoped for and more:

    • Expanded Roster: Get ready to play as a variety of distinct dinosaur species, each with unique stats and abilities. The developers have already teased fan favourites like the speedy Raptor and the tank-like Triceratops.
    • Deep Customisation: Select and customise your dino with a deep library of cosmetic mods. Escape extinction in style!
    • Procedurally Generated Worlds: The game will feature multiple eras (with the Cretaceous being the first planned for Early Access) and procedurally generated levels, ensuring that no two desperate runs are exactly alike.
    • Multiplayer Mayhem: The sequel is being built from the ground up to support both online PvP and Co-op, making that frantic escape a social, chaotic, and incredibly fun experience.

Current Status: A Sandbox of Fun

Developer Pixeljam recently concluded a successful Kickstarter campaign and is keeping the community heavily involved. Currently, backers can jump into a Multiplayer Sandbox environment. This sandbox features the powerful world-building tools that the team is using to create the final game, allowing players to experiment with physics, pivots, and custom objects to build their own creations—from minigolf courses to egg-heists!

This commitment to community feedback and early experimentation is a fantastic sign that the full game will be polished and mechanically rich.

    When Can We Run?

While an official full release date is still To Be Announced, the developers are targeting an Early Access launch on Steam in 2026. They have stated that the game will be in Early Access for an estimated 3-4 years as they add new eras, more dinos, and continue to refine the ultimate extinction-dodging experience.

The early access version is planned to feature the core running experience in a single era, plus the robust multiplayer sandbox.

    Our Verdict

Dino Run 2 is a project driven by passion and community nostalgia. It’s aiming high, promising to take the simple, addictive gameplay of the original and expand it into a fully-fledged, modern indie title with deep systems, dynamic world-building, and robust multiplayer.

If you have fond memories of the original or just love fast-paced, pixel-art platformers, keep this one on your radar. The Doom Wall is coming, and it’s going to be glorious!

  • Back from the Dead: Our Verdict on Dying Light: The Beast

Back from the Dead: Our Verdict on Dying Light: The Beast

It’s finally here. After years of speculation, leaks, and a surprising pivot from DLC to standalone game, Dying Light: The Beast has clawed its way onto our screens. And let me tell you, it’s a hell of a ride. For long-time fans of the series, this is the homecoming we’ve been waiting for. For newcomers, it’s a brutal, fast-paced introduction to the world of Dying Light.

Techland made a bold choice in bringing back Kyle Crane, the hero of the original Dying Light. After the ambiguous and emotional ending of The Following DLC, many of us thought we’d seen the last of him. The Beast picks up 13 years after his transformation, with Crane having been captured and experimented on by a mysterious villain known as the Baron. The result? A new hero that is half-man, half-monster, with a Jekyll and Hyde-like duality that defines the core gameplay.

    A New Kind of Beast

The biggest change, and the most satisfying one, is the “Beast Mode.” This isn’t just a gimmick; it’s a strategic, visceral mechanic that truly sets this game apart. As Crane takes damage or deals it out, his “Beast” meter fills. Once full, you can unleash his primal side, tearing through zombies with your bare hands, throwing environmental objects, and performing incredible leaps. This isn’t a power fantasy you can spam, though. It’s a last-ditch effort, a desperate burst of fury to get you out of a tight spot. It adds a whole new layer of tension to combat, especially when you’re cornered by a horde and the meter is tantalizingly close to full.

The combat itself is as brutal and satisfying as ever. Every swing of a weapon, every blow, feels impactful and weighty. The physics system has been completely overhauled, and you’ll see zombies react realistically to your attacks—limbs flying, heads rolling, and bodies rag-dolling in a gloriously gory fashion. The game also reintroduces vehicles, a fan-favourite from the first game’s DLC, allowing you to plough through hordes in a 4×4, adding a new dimension to traversal in the open world of Castor Woods.

    The Return of Terror

The day/night cycle, a hallmark of the series, is back and more terrifying than ever. During the day, you’ll be parkouring across rooftops and exploring the new rural setting of Castor Woods. This Swiss Alps-inspired location is a breathtaking contrast to the urban settings of the previous games, with sprawling forests, industrial parks, and tourist towns. But once the sun sets, the game becomes a true survival horror experience.

The Volatiles, the series’s signature nighttime predators, are faster, more intelligent, and more relentless than before. Nighttime traversal is no longer just about survival; it’s about pure, unadulterated fear. You’ll find yourself crouching through bushes, using your survivor sense to ping for enemies, and holding your breath as a Volatile stalks just meters away. The stakes are higher, and every chase feels like a desperate fight for your life.

    A Tighter, More Focused Experience

Techland has been very open about its decision to make The Beast a more compact experience. And it works. This isn’t a sprawling open world with a branching narrative and a million side quests. It’s a focused, linear story about revenge. The narrative is darker and more personal, and it truly leans into the horror aspect of the zombie apocalypse. The return of Roger Craig Smith as a haunted, revenge-driven Kyle Crane is a welcome surprise, and his performance is one of the best in the series.

Dying Light: The Beast is a testament to Techland’s dedication to their fans and their franchise. It’s a game that listens to what the community loved about the original and builds upon it, while also taking bold risks. It delivers on its promise of a more brutal, more personal, and more terrifying Dying Light experience. So go on, unleash the beast—you won’t regret it.

  • Stepping into the Dust: A Deep Dive into Little Nightmares III’s The Necropolis

Stepping into the Dust: A Deep Dive into Little Nightmares III’s The Necropolis

The eerie and unsettling world of Little Nightmares is expanding, and with the release of a new demo, fans are getting their first terrifying glimpse into one of the game’s new locales: The Necropolis. As a longtime admirer of this atmospheric horror series, I’ve been eagerly awaiting any news on Little Nightmares III, and the demo has only heightened my anticipation. So, let’s break down what we’ve learned and what horrors await us in this wind-swept city of the dead.

A New Nightmare, A New Duo

The first thing to know is that Little Nightmares III introduces us to two new protagonists, Low and Alone. This marks a significant shift from the previous games’ single-character journeys (with a brief AI companion in Little Nightmares II). In a groundbreaking move for the franchise, the game is built around online co-op. You can now face your childhood fears with a friend, each controlling one of the new characters. Don’t have a co-op partner? No problem. The game is fully playable solo, with an AI controlling the other character.

The unique abilities of Low and Alone are central to the new gameplay. Low, with his crow mask and bow and arrow, handles ranged puzzles and threats. Alone, sporting a green jumpsuit and a wrench, is the master of melee and breaking through barriers. This dynamic duo system looks to be a fantastic evolution of the puzzle-platforming that defines the series, forcing players to work together and utilise both characters’ strengths to survive.

The Necropolis: A City of Wind and Rust

The demo gives us a taste of The Necropolis, a desolate desert city powered by the constant gust of wind. This setting is a stark departure from the damp, claustrophobic environments of the Maw or the urban sprawl of the Pale City. The Necropolis is a vast, open-air graveyard of machinery, its windmills and sails turning endlessly in a chilling, mechanical chorus. It’s a city of “eternal energy and certain death,” and while its original inhabitants, the Dwellers, are long gone, new and terrifying residents have taken their place.

The atmosphere is one of overwhelming decay and loneliness. The muted, monochromatic palette of stone and dust gives the area a uniquely haunting aesthetic. The sound of the wind is a constant presence, a mournful whisper that makes every creak of a door or shift of sand feel like a new threat.

    Confronting a Monstrous Foe

A key part of the demo is the introduction of a new “Resident,” a foe named Monster Baby. This grotesque, oversized infant is a new kind of horror for the series. Her unpredictable and clumsy movements are just as terrifying as those of a more deliberate stalker. Navigating her “playground” requires a new kind of stealth and strategy, as her sheer size and destructive nature make hide-and-seek a life-or-death game. She’s a perfect example of the unsettling, almost absurd horrors that the Little Nightmares universe is known for.

    What’s Next?

The Little Nightmares III demo is a brilliant appetiser, leaving us with more questions than answers. What secrets are buried beneath the sands of The Necropolis? How do Low and Alone’s stories connect to the wider lore of The Nowhere? We’ll have to wait until the game’s official release on October 10, 2025, to find out.

This first look has proven that Supermassive Games is more than capable of continuing the legacy of this beloved franchise. The addition of co-op, the new characters, and the fresh, horrifying setting promise to make Little Nightmares III a memorable and chilling experience. Get ready to face your fears—this time, you don’t have to do it alone.
