Dare You Visit the Wicked Isle? Diving into the Atomfall Ambience

The chilling, post-apocalyptic British countryside of Atomfall just got a whole lot murkier. The Wicked Isle story expansion invites players to take a perilous boat ride to a new, isolated location—Midsummer Island—and its blend of atompunk aesthetics and genuine folk horror is a treat for anyone who loves a good mystery and a thick, unsettling atmosphere.

    A Fog-Shrouded, Lovecraftian Retreat

Wicked Isle is less a side-trek and more a deeply integrated new chapter in the Atomfall narrative. Nestled off the Cumberland coast, Midsummer Island is a genuinely distinct environment. The developers, Rebellion, have leaned heavily into the folk horror elements, trading some of the mainland’s paranoia for an ancient, aquatic dread.

Imagine this: you’re exploring a centuries-old monk’s observatory, a relic from the time of Henry VIII, only to gaze out at the ocean and be met with a sight of genuine Lovecraftian terror. This blend of traditional British history and cosmic horror is where the expansion shines, offering a vivid and beautiful (in a terrifying way) environmental design that’s enhanced by new rain effects and stunning water graphics.

    New Foes and Ancient Secrets

The disaster at Windscale has taken a particularly nasty toll on Midsummer Island, leading to new threats that will test your survival skills:

    • Deranged Druid Cults: Empowered by pagan rituals, these infected factions add a layer of occult horror to the radioactive landscape.
    • Nautical Bandits: Roaming pirate-themed mercenaries who have embraced the island’s dark history.
    • Strange Creatures: Unnatural entities lurking in the watery depths.

To face these foes, you’ll uncover new gear, like the devastating double-barrel blunderbuss shotgun and a sharp cutlass, along with new skills that can help you survive the heightened infection levels. Look out for the enhanced metal detector to uncover new hidden caches across the entire quarantine zone!

    Story Progression by Discovery

Like the base game, Wicked Isle‘s strongest suit is its narrative and atmosphere. The gameplay is less about a frantic difficulty spike and more about unwinding a mystery. The progression is internal—marked by your growing understanding of the world, not just arbitrary stat increases.

The DLC presents a few very compelling storylines, including a time-flashback mechanic that dives into the island’s connection with the production of a paranormal psychoactive alcohol centuries ago. These leads don’t just stay on the island; they tie back into the mainland narrative, leading to a few new, trippy, and arguably worthwhile endings for the main game. If you loved the detective-novel structure of Atomfall, you’ll find plenty to sink your teeth into here.

    Final Verdict: A Worthwhile Return

Wicked Isle is essential for anyone who enjoyed the original Atomfall experience. While some of the new weapons might feel like minor upgrades and the enemy AI can still be a little bizarre, the expansion excels where the base game does: atmosphere, world-building, and captivating story additions. It’s more Atomfall, with a fresh, dark folk horror twist that keeps the clock ticking.

Dare to take the boat ride. The secrets waiting on the Wicked Isle are worth the risk.

  • Soaring to New Heights: The “Bloom & Blight” Update for Aloft is Here!

Soaring to New Heights: The “Bloom & Blight” Update for Aloft is Here!

If you’ve been looking for a cosy survival-crafting game with a breathtaking twist, you’ve likely heard of Aloft. Set in a world of floating islands, this game is all about exploration, building your own skyship, and healing a fungal corruption that threatens the airborne ecosystem.

Now, the skies have truly shifted with the arrival of the massive Bloom & Blight update! Dubbed the biggest overhaul yet for the Early Access title, this update doesn’t just add content—it fundamentally changes and improves the way you play.

A World Reborn: Progression and Exploration Overhauled

The core experience of Aloft has been streamlined and deepened, addressing player feedback and setting a solid foundation for the future.

    • A New Path to Power: Tech Trees! Gone is the somewhat directionless progression. Bloom & Blight introduces three distinct tech trees: Knowledge, Sailing, and Research. Finding Knowledge Stones and Lost Anchors now grants you points you can invest to unlock specific technologies that suit your playstyle. Want to focus on automation? Invest in Knowledge. Want a better ship? The Sailing tree is for you. This change makes progression feel far more rewarding and player-driven.
    • Sailing the Wind Tunnels: Exploration has literally picked up speed! The update introduces Wind Lanes, which act as high-speed shortcuts across the sky. By restoring key islands, you can unlock these lanes, making travel between distant islands a breeze—especially when piloting your own custom-built, flying island-ship!

The Heart of the Game: Reworked Restoration

The struggle against the pervasive fungi corruption, known as the “Blight,” is at the centre of Aloft, and this process has received a major facelift to be more engaging.

    • The Life Sapling Loop: Restoring corrupted islands is now a more interactive process centred around Life Sapling islands. You must complete specific tasks, often involving removing corruption cores scattered across the island, to heal the Sapling. Successfully restoring it not only brings life back to the floating landmass but also opens up those valuable Wind Lanes.
    • Colossal Life Trees: Healing three Life Saplings in a sector activates a powerful Life Tree. These colossal, restored ecosystems contain inner basins, providing new, resource-rich underground areas to explore—a fantastic reward for your restoration efforts!

New Threats, New Tools: Combat and Corruption

The corruption is fighting back with new strains that demand better gear and strategy.

    • Meet Sportox and Flogade: You’ll now face two new corruption strains: Sportox and Flogade. Sportox enemies release spores that can temporarily disable your glider (forcing a direct fight!), while Flogade leaves behind scorching ground effects you’ll need to avoid.
    • Stronger Gear: To take on these new threats, higher-tier tools and weapons have been added, including Windstone and Serrated Bone variants. The reworked combat system, which now focuses on destroying scattered “corruption cores” before taking on the main node, makes these battles more strategic than before.

Why You Should Dive Back In

Whether you’re a returning Early Access player or a newcomer, Bloom & Blight makes Aloft a vastly improved experience. The changes are foundational, transforming the game into a more cohesive, feature-rich, and genuinely compelling “cosy survival” title. The feeling of turning a scarred, corrupted island into your own flourishing, flying base is a unique delight, and now, that journey is clearer, faster, and more rewarding than ever before.

The skies are waiting, Captain! Are you ready to set sail and bring the bloom back to the blight?

  • Blasting Off with the Cosmic Run Demo: A Fugitive’s Galactic Getaway!

Blasting Off with the Cosmic Run Demo: A Fugitive’s Galactic Getaway!

The digital stars have aligned, and the demo for Cosmic Run, a new single-player space roguelite, is officially live! Developed by Zinktank Labs, this game promises a chaotic, adrenaline-fueled escape that feels like a cross between a frantic bullet-hell survivor game and a wacky, character-driven sci-fi comedy.

    What’s the Mission?

In a galaxy under the thumb of the oppressive Unified Order, you take on the role of a member of the Zogark family, fugitives on the run from the relentless Galactic Fleet. Your main objective is simple, but deadly: Fight, Build, Survive, Escape!

The demo throws you into a short, intense session—about 15 minutes of non-stop action—where you must battle hordes of galactic enemies while strategically building and upgrading your ship. Think fast-paced, wave-based survival with a heavy dose of roguelite complexity.

    Key Demo Features That Shine

The heart of Cosmic Run is its dynamic customisation and relentless progression, even in this brief demo:

    • Dynamic Ship Customisation: This isn’t just about shooting; it’s about building. The demo lets you experiment with a wide variety of Weapons and Modules to create unique ship builds. Your upgrades are procedurally generated, ensuring that no two runs feel exactly the same, forcing you to adapt your tactics on the fly.
    • Massive Upgrade Pool: Even in the demo, you get a taste of the vast scope. The full game boasts 145+ Weapon & Passive Upgrades, giving you an incredible number of combinations to discover your overpowered build.
    • Persistent Progression: Not all is lost when a run ends! You earn credits from your missions that can be used to unlock and improve Permanent Upgrades. This system ensures that every attempt makes you stronger, making that eventual escape feel earned and inevitable.
    • Distinct Characters (The Zogark Family): The demo gives you a glimpse into the Zogark family of fugitives. Each character is set to have their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and special abilities, encouraging you to master different playstyles.

First Impressions: Chaos in a Good Way

Cosmic Run is immediate, engaging, and very chaotic. The action is high-octane from the moment you launch. It perfectly captures that frantic, ‘just one more run’ energy that the best survival roguelites thrive on.

The ability to dynamically customise your ship during a run is a standout feature. Will you focus on a swarm of homing rockets or a devastating single-target laser? The decisions are quick, but the consequences are massive. Plus, the integrated, non-intrusive dialogue system provides great flavour and story snippets without breaking the flow of battle.

    Final Verdict (Demo)

This demo is a fantastic appetiser. It successfully introduces the core loop of fighting, customising, and progressing in a condensed format. If you’re a fan of the roguelite genre, enjoy chaotic space battles, and crave that persistent feeling of getting stronger with every defeat, Cosmic Run should be high on your radar.

It’s fast, fun, and promises deep replayability when the full version launches.

    • The unrelenting Boltgun
    • The roaring Astartes Chainsword

  • A Decade at the Holotable: Celebrating the STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes 10th Anniversary!

A Decade at the Holotable: Celebrating the STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes 10th Anniversary!

Can you believe it? Ten years ago, we were first invited to pull up a seat at the Cantina’s Holotable and begin our journey in STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes (SWGoH). A decade of collecting heroes, building formidable squads, and engaging in countless turn-based battles across the vast Star Wars universe! To mark this momentous milestone, Capital Games is launching the biggest foundational overhaul the game has ever seen, setting the stage for an exciting new era.

Here’s a look at what the 10th Anniversary has in store for every Holotable Hero!

Introducing the Era System: A Foundational Overhaul

The biggest news is the introduction of the Era System, a major shift that will reshape how players engage with new content and character progression. This is more than just a new coat of paint—it’s a brand-new way to play.

    What is an Era?

An Era represents a seasonal cycle of new content and characters. A standard Era will typically include:

    • Three Episodes: Sequential content releases within the Era.
    • Six Marquee Units: New characters introduced throughout the Episodes.
    • A Journey Guide Event: An associated unit that can be unlocked early at a lower star level.
    • New Game Mode: The Coliseum!

Era Isolation: The New Way to Progress

A key feature of the Era System is the Isolation of new content. For a set time, newly released Era Units will:

    • Only be usable in Era Modes, like the new Coliseum.
    • Use a completely separate set of Era resources for progression, isolated from the existing “Legacy” gear and materials.

This separation is designed to allow players—especially newer ones—to engage with the latest characters and content without disrupting their long-term farming goals on “Legacy” units. Once an Era ends, the characters transition to Legacy Units and can be geared up using the original materials.

Step into The Coliseum: A New Challenge Awaits

Unlocking at Player Level 10, The Coliseum is the first new game mode within the Era System. This mode pits individual players against formidable bosses from the Star Wars galaxy, with a daily rotation of challenging foes and the goal of achieving new high scores. It sounds like a fantastic new venue to test your growing squads and strategies!

    Progression Made Easier: Resource Updates

The anniversary update is also bringing welcome changes to existing progression systems, making it potentially easier to advance your roster:

    • Episode Track Updates: Relic 1-5 materials and Tier 1-3 Signal Data will replace some existing Gear Salvage Boxes on the free Episode Track milestones. This could significantly help with the perennial Signal Data bottleneck!
    • Raid Shipment Rework: The cost of key gear pieces like Electrium Conductors and Zinbiddle Cards is being adjusted, with some moving to the more accessible Mk II Raid Tokens, and lower-tier gear moving to Mk I Raid Tokens.
    • Lower Star Requirements for Relics: The number of stars required for certain Relic Amplifier Levels is being reduced:
      • Relic 4: Reduced from 6 Stars to 5 Stars.
      • Relic 5: Reduced from 7 Stars to 6 Stars.
      • Relic 6: Now requires 7 Stars for the first time.

A Huge Step Forward for SWGoH

The 10th Anniversary of STAR WARS: Galaxy of Heroes is not just a moment to look back on a decade of epic battles, but a giant leap forward with the introduction of the Era System. The sheer scale of this update—from a new mode like the Coliseum to the foundational changes in character and resource progression—proves that Capital Games is committed to ensuring the holotables remain a dynamic and engaging place for years to come.

Whether you’re a day-one player or a newcomer just unlocking your first squad, this is truly a fantastic time to be a part of the SWGoH community!

  • A Voice from the Stars: Roger Clark Joins Starfinder: Afterlight as Narrator

A Voice from the Stars: Roger Clark Joins Starfinder: Afterlight as Narrator

Prepare to chart a course for the Pact Worlds with one of the most recognisable voices in gaming! Epictellers Entertainment has just dropped a stellar piece of news: Roger Clark, the award-winning actor known for his iconic portrayal of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, has signed on to be the Narrator for Starfinder: Afterlight!

This is more than just a casting announcement; it’s a monumental moment that promises to elevate the entire narrative experience of this highly anticipated isometric CRPG.

The Perfect Fit for a Space-Western Saga

Starfinder: Afterlight, based on Paizo’s beloved sci-fi tabletop RPG, blends high fantasy with space-faring adventure, often carrying a strong “space-western” or Guardians of the Galaxy-esque vibe. Who better to guide players through this unique, slightly gritty, and often humorous setting than the man whose voice is synonymous with the spirit of the Wild West?

    • The Voice of Experience: Clark’s distinct, gruff, and deeply emotive delivery is exactly what a compelling space opera needs. His narration is expected to go beyond simple plot points, offering frank and sometimes sarcastic commentary on your crew’s journey and decisions.
    • Setting the Tone: Early clips suggest Clark brings a similar blend of gravitas and world-weariness that made his previous work so beloved. Imagine his voice describing the “metallic taste of a starship’s recycled air” or the “humidity of a jungle planet”—it instantly immerses you in the rough-and-tumble side of the Starfinder universe.

    Joining a Star-Studded Crew

Clark’s addition is the latest in a series of impressive casting reveals for Starfinder: Afterlight. The game is clearly focusing on top-tier voice talent to bring its diverse cast of characters to life.

    • Voice Direction & Companion: Clark joins a team that includes Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Astarion), who is not only serving as the voice director but is also playing the Shirren mystic companion, Preach.
    • All-Star Ensemble: The cast also boasts names like Carolina Ravassa (Sombra in Overwatch), Fred Tatasciore (known for countless roles across games and animation), and others, ensuring every character you meet is memorable.

Guiding Your Fate Across the Pact Worlds

In Starfinder: Afterlight, you assemble a crew to search for your vanished captain across the vastness of the Pact Worlds, utilising the strategic, three-action turn-based combat of the Starfinder Second Edition tabletop rules.

As the Narrator, Roger Clark will be the player’s constant companion, charting the crew’s fate, highlighting critical story beats, and reacting to the momentous choices that will shape the branching narrative. The success of a classic CRPG often rests on the shoulders of its storyteller, and with Clark at the helm, the journey promises to be nothing short of epic.

The anticipation for Starfinder: Afterlight‘s early access in 2026 is already high, and this news has blasted it into orbit. Roger Clark’s involvement is a major boon for the team at Epictellers Entertainment, guaranteeing a narrative presentation that players won’t soon forget.

  • Saving Princess Of Mars – A Zany, Retro Sci-Fi Rescue Mission!

Saving Princess Of Mars – A Zany, Retro Sci-Fi Rescue Mission!

Get Ready for a Red Planet Romp!

If you’ve been yearning for a game that blends classic action platforming with a bizarre, comedic sci-fi narrative, then clear your launchpad for Saving Princess of Mars! Developed by Hrtz Games and published by Ocean Media, this retro-inspired adventure is ready to crash-land on your screens, proving that a simple Earth lumberjack is all you need to shake up the entire solar system.

    The Most Unlikely Hero: Jack

Forget your grizzled space marines—our protagonist is Jack, a lumberjack from Earth, who somehow finds himself teleported straight onto the red sands of Mars. His mission, should he choose to accept it (and he kinda has to, since he’s already there), is to rescue the captivating Princess of Mars.

But this isn’t your typical damsel-in-distress tale. The developers promise a journey packed with unexpected turns, slapstick combat, and cosmic mysteries. The story is described as an “unconventional” cinematic narrative that blends comedy, sci-fi, and mystery into a finale you won’t see coming.

Gameplay: Old-School Platforming with a Punch

At its core, Saving Princess of Mars is a love letter to 1990s 2D platformers, wrapped in charming pixel art. But it brings some modern twists to the formula:

    • Chaotic Combat: Leave your laser pistols at home. Combat is physics-driven and relies on spontaneous moves. You’ll be stomping, kicking, and improvising your way through strange Martian enemies in a “slapstick ballet of mayhem.”
    • Hand-Crafted Levels: The game features seven large, uniquely designed platforming stages, each offering multiple paths to completion. Exploration is key to finding all the secrets!
    • Multiple Playable Characters: While Jack is the star, you’ll be able to switch between four distinct heroes, each boasting unique abilities to help tackle different challenges.
    • Humour at Every Step: Expect witty character banter and tongue-in-cheek commentary throughout the adventure, keeping the bizarre mood lighthearted.

    More Than Just a Rescue

While the title suggests a singular goal, the game hints at a larger mystery, raising questions like: Is there life on Mars? And what help can you get from Prof. One-Rock? This satirical adventure promises to be as philosophical as it is funny.

For those who love a challenge, the game offers up to four hours of initial gameplay, with an unlockable Hard Mode and 42 achievements to pursue once you’ve saved the Princess for the first time.

    Launching Soon!

Get ready to jump, kick, and solve your way through this bizarre Martian adventure! Saving Princess of Mars is launching on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. It’s the perfect fix for gamers craving retro aesthetics, tight platforming, and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

  • Navigating the Cosmos for Profit: An Early Look at Stellar Trader

Navigating the Cosmos for Profit: An Early Look at Stellar Trader

The final frontier has always been a place for explorers and warriors, but in the upcoming Stellar Trader, it’s the merchants who truly hold the keys to the galaxy. Developed by ParaVerseLab and published by Spiral Up Games, this new sci-fi, strategy-sim is promising to put the “X” in eXploitation and eXchange, offering players a deep dive into interstellar commerce, politics, and power.

From Rustbucket to Riches: The Core Gameplay

At its heart, Stellar Trader is an ambitious space trading simulator set hundreds of years after humanity has taken to the stars. You start small—a “rustbucket” freighter—and the goal is simple: buy low, sell high, and work your way up to a colossal megaship.

This isn’t just about simple point-A-to-point-B trade runs, though. The galaxy features a living, breathing economy where you can:

    • Master Planetary Economies: Exploit regional shortages or even strategically stabilise entire systems through smart logistics.
    • Work the Black Market: Discover illicit opportunities for maximum profit, but with maximum risk.
    • Customise Your Fleet: Your trade vessels are fully customizable with crew, modules, and systems, allowing you to prepare for long-range jumps or fend off pirates.

More Than Just Cargo: The Strategic & Narrative Layers

What makes Stellar Trader stand out is its blend of economic strategy with broader galactic influence and personal narrative. You won’t just be a spreadsheet warrior; you’ll be a force in the galaxy:

    • Political Puppet Master: While you might not start wars, your wealth and control over supply lines allow you to shift political balances and tip the scales between rival powers. Form alliances, pull strings, and become a “Lord of War” through economic influence.
    • Build & Expand: Claim orbital space and construct your own space stations and colonies. Managing these supply chain hubs allows you to guide the development of worlds and further expand your reach.
    • Slice of Life Stories: The game promises a strong narrative layer with personal storylines, unforgettable characters, romance, and even puzzles to solve in ancient ruins. The galaxy is a canvas for your personal adventure, not just a marketplace.

Should You Get Ready to Trade?

If you’re a fan of space-faring games like Elite Dangerous or EVE Online but have always wished for a deeper, more focused tycoon and management experience, Stellar Trader is a game to watch. It truly seems to be aiming for the ultimate fantasy of a galactic merchant, where economic power is the ultimate weapon.

The blend of core trading mechanics with strategic 4X elements and character-driven narrative suggests a game with massive replayability and a focus on player freedom. Keep an eye on the stars—and the trade ticker—for this one!

    • Exploring winding dungeons and complex maps.
    • Battling unique bosses and enemies designed by the world’s creator.
    • Collecting power-ups and resources to upgrade your character and ship.
    • Unravelling a main story arc involving mysterious “asylum planets” and hidden relics.

    The Creator’s Toolkit

If you prefer building over hunting, Starlair’s comprehensive world creator is where you’ll spend your time. This easy-to-learn editor lets you design your own Metroidvania levels and share them with the entire galaxy. You can:

    • Build massive, intricate worlds.
    • Customise the environment, enemies, and traps.

Then it’s time to meet Hoomanz!, the delightful new stealth-adventure game from independent studio Koffeecup. It’s a game that swaps out combat for cuddles (the bad kind) and delivers a truly unique, laugh-out-loud experience.

Meet Shoo: The Guardian Who Hates Hugs

In Hoomanz!, you play as Shoo, the mythical guardian of Planet Erf, a whimsical world where darkness is your ally and light is your enemy. Erf was once a peaceful realm of eternal night, until the noisy, clueless, and affectionate invaders known as the “Hoomanz” arrived, polluting the land and, worst of all, bringing blinding light.

Shoo’s mission is simple: scare them all away!

The core of the game revolves around Shoo’s hilarious hidden dual nature and the contrast between dark and light:

    • Dark Shoo: In the shadows, Shoo is fierce, fast, and stealthy—the apex predator ready to deliver a terrifying scream.
    • Light Shoo: Step into a light source, and Shoo transforms into a slow, vulnerable, and irresistibly cute fluffball. The Hoomanz’s worst reaction? An uncontrollable desire to chase you down and squish you with a hug! Shoo hates hugs, and getting caught means a quick respawn.

    Gameplay: Stress, Scare, and Scoot!

Hoomanz! is a non-combat game, but don’t mistake that for being easy. Your objective is to make the Hoomanz so stressed out that a simple scare sends them “yeeting” off the planet.

How do you stress a Hooman? Shoo’s mischief-filled toolkit encourages creativity:

    • Environmental Chaos: Sabotage lights, snap twigs, throw bottles, or lure them into dangerous traps.
    • Luring: Use Shoo’s cute purr to draw a Hoomanz closer… then quickly retreat into the shadows!
    • The Big Finish: Once a Hooman is stressed, sneak up as Dark Shoo and unleash a mighty scream to send them running.

The game is designed for all skill levels. It’s a “pick-up-and-play” experience with no punishing checkpoints or frustrating game-overs. Failure (getting a hug) simply means a quick reset, allowing you to experiment and find the most inventive ways to protect Erf.

    A Universe of Cosy Charm

Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game is visually charming, blending a whimsical atmosphere with the humorous antics of the invaders. The humour is constant, from the Hoomanz’s panicked waddling and ridiculous screams (recorded by the developers themselves!) to their idle banjo playing and comical slips on the ice.

This is a game packed with personality and heart, offering a refreshing take on the stealth genre. It proves that you don’t need violence to have an engaging, challenging, and utterly charming adventure.

    Why You Should Play Hoomanz!

If you’re looking for an inventive game with:

    • Zero combat and a focus on clever stealth and puzzle-solving.
    • Family-friendly fun that still offers depth for seasoned gamers.
    • A constant, hilarious duality between Light Shoo (cute and vulnerable) and Dark Shoo (fast and scary).
    • A wonderful sense of whimsy and cosy humour.

Then grab your paws, embrace the darkness, and step into the role of Shoo. Planet Erf needs its grumpy, hug-hating guardian!

Hoomanz! is available now on Steam, with a downloadable demo also available. Coming soon to Nintendo Switch and Xbox!

  • Earth’s Last Stand: Hybrid Warfare in Earth vs Mars

Earth’s Last Stand: Hybrid Warfare in Earth vs Mars

The fate of our home planet hangs in the balance, and honestly, it’s never looked this wild. Forget your traditional military strategy—the new turn-based tactics game, Earth vs Mars, from Relic Labs, throws out the rulebook and hands you the keys to the Splice-O-Tron, humanity’s last, craziest hope.

This is not your grandpa’s sci-fi invasion. This is a battle for Earth waged by human-animal hybrid supersoldiers against a terrifying Martian menace.

The Martian Menace: Advanced Tech Meets Atomic Abduction

The Martians aren’t new to Earth; they’ve been visiting for decades, secretly abducting our people and animals to harvest their “atomic essence” and create bizarre hybrids of their own. Now, they’ve arrived for the full invasion, bringing their high-tech saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

The threats are constantly evolving. As you push back, the Martians escalate, introducing their own mutant creations and the terrifying, sentient organic weapon known only as “The Creep.” You’ll need more than a few tanks and rifles to stop this planetary takeover.

    Humanity’s Secret Weapon: The Splice-O-Tron

This is where the game truly takes a left turn into brilliant madness. To combat the overwhelming alien forces, Earth’s military has developed the Splice-O-Tron. This unique mechanic allows you to combine human “volunteers” with Earth’s creatures to create an army of custom, mutated super-soldiers.

    Imagine:

    • A cheetah-fly hybrid, fast-moving and capable of raining down acid from the skies.
    • A human-rhino charging through enemy lines with devastating brute strength.
    • The utterly surreal squirrel-cow infantry striking from the forests.

The level of customisation promises a truly deep layer of strategy. You’re not just creating units; you’re designing your army from the ground up, splicing different body parts to inherit various abilities and stat buffs. Do you build a dedicated healer with axolotl DNA, or a heavy-hitting shock troop with the head of a rhino? The battlefield is your laboratory.

Game Modes and Why You’ll Stay Splicing

Earth vs Mars is built on the foundations of classic turn-based tactics games (think Advance Wars meets Relic’s own Impossible Creatures), but with its own unique flavour.

    • Expansive Campaign: Dive into a narrative-focused single-player campaign featuring over 30 hand-crafted missions where you’ll unlock new creature types and powerful commander abilities.
    • Online Multiplayer: Test your hybrid army against other players in intense 1v1 online battles, where you can choose to command either the armies of Earth or the Martian Invaders.
    • Map Lab: The fully featured Map Editor allows you to create your own custom maps and scenarios, ensuring the replayability is nearly endless, and the community can truly run wild with their creations.

Earth vs Mars isn’t just another strategy game; it’s a wonderfully weird, campy B-movie brought to life. It’s for players who crave tactical depth but also appreciate a truly unique and entertaining sci-fi premise. Prepare your volunteers—the war for Earth is about to get very, very strange.

What weird hybrid unit would you create first to fight the Martians? Let us know in the comments!

  • Cosmic Chaos and Custom Fleets: Why Stellar Warfare is the Space RTS You Need to Play

Cosmic Chaos and Custom Fleets: Why Stellar Warfare is the Space RTS You Need to Play

The Real-Time Strategy (RTS) genre is a timeless classic, but it takes a truly ambitious project to stand out in the crowded space-combat field. Enter Stellar Warfare, a game that is not just paying homage to the greats like Homeworld and Red Alert, but is also charting its own course with unique and deep mechanics.

Developed largely as a passion project by a small team, this indie gem is proving that you don’t need a massive studio to deliver a stellar galactic conflict.

What Makes Stellar Warfare So Compelling?

At its core, Stellar Warfare is an old-school RTS experience—you harvest resources, build a base, and command a fleet to crush your enemies. However, it layers on features that elevate it far beyond a simple nostalgia trip.

    Deep, Modular Ship Customisation

Forget pre-set unit lists. This is where Stellar Warfare truly shines. The game provides you with over 200 available ships, weapons, and modules to design your fleet from the hull up.

    • Design Your Killer: Want a swift, shielded frigate with long-range missiles? Or a lumbering capital ship stacked with laser batteries and armour? The ship editor is a tinkerer’s dream, allowing for a near-unlimited number of possible configurations.
    • Strategic Variety: This customisation means no two battles are the same. Victory often hinges on out-designing your opponent as much as out-manoeuvring them on the battlefield.

    Full 3D Space Combat

Unlike many RTS games confined to a 2D plane, Stellar Warfare embraces the vastness of space with full 3D movement. Ships can attack from above, below, and all angles, transforming skirmishes into visually stunning, chaotic lightshows of laser fire and explosions.

The sheer spectacle of a fully customised fleet engaging in a high-stakes 3D battle is a breathtaking experience that captures the cinematic feel of classic sci-fi.

    Classic Base-Building Meets Space Strategy

The base-building elements borrow heavily from legends like Red Alert and Supreme Commander. You’ll construct:

    • Refineries and Power Plants to fuel your economy.
    • Defensive Turrets and Overshields to protect your critical infrastructure.
    • Shipyards to pump out your newly designed war machines.

This familiar foundation makes the game instantly accessible to RTS veterans, while the 3D map adds a refreshing layer of spatial strategy to where and how you build.

Game Modes to Test Every Commander

Stellar Warfare offers a diverse set of modes to keep you engaged:

    Game ModeDescription
SkirmishClassic RTS battle against the AI or human opponents.
CampaignetteA small story-driven mode following the aftermath of “The Light.”
Wave DefenseA challenging co-op or solo mode focused on base fortification and survival against endless enemy waves (a community-requested feature!).
Battle RoyaleA multiplayer mode for large-scale, winner-take-all engagements.

    A Labour of Love

What truly gives Stellar Warfare its heart is its origin. As a self-funded and community-driven project, the developers have consistently listened to player feedback, implementing major features like co-op and key balance tweaks based on what the community wanted.

It’s clear this game is a passion project, and that dedication shines through in the unique mechanics and the sheer volume of content.

If you’re a fan of classic real-time strategy, the strategic depth of fleet design, and stunning space battles, Stellar Warfare is waiting for your command. Download the free demo and start designing your ultimate death-fleet today!
