In Search of the Ice Pop: A Short Visual Novel of Modern Melancholy and Forgotten Memories

In the world of indie games, where massive open worlds and cutting-edge graphics often dominate the conversation, there is a quiet beauty to the narrative-focused, pixel-art experience. This is precisely what solo developer Guanpeng Chen delivers with his newest project: “In Search of the Ice Pop.”

Just announced with its Steam page launch, this short visual novel promises to be a poignant journey back through time, exploring themes of modern melancholy, forgotten connections, and the powerful pull of a simple childhood memory.

The Premise: An Unexpected Nostalgia Trip

The game’s setting is a suffocating summer night in modern society. We follow the life of a young, aspiring writer grappling with a sense of hopelessness. It’s on his way to a convenience store shift—a common, almost mundane experience—that a memory strikes him: a forgotten ice pop, and the “big sis” who took him to the arcade some 15 years ago.

This is the core of the quest. It’s not an epic adventure, but a deeply personal, internal one: Where is she now?

The narrative is positioned as “a story of modern melancholy,” suggesting a gentle, perhaps bittersweet exploration of adult disappointment contrasted with the bright, vivid simplicity of youth.

The Vibe: Pixel Art Meets Strong Narrative

Guanpeng Chen is no stranger to crafting powerful stories through pixel art, having previously released the “pixel art × strong narrative” title, Booth: A Dystopian Adventure. He returns to this style, using the medium to evoke a specific sense of nostalgia and atmosphere.

    • Visual Style: Expect rich, evocative pixel art that brings the everyday settings—the convenience store, the city streets—to life with a dreamy, almost wistful quality.
    • Genre: Classified as an Adventure/Visual Novel, the focus will undoubtedly be on the text, dialogue, and emotional resonance rather than complex gameplay mechanics.
    • The Theme: This isn’t just about an ice pop; it’s a metaphor for a cherished moment, a lost connection, and a simpler time that the main character is trying to recapture in a difficult present.

If you enjoy games that prioritize a strong, emotional narrative and beautiful, retro-inspired aesthetics, this is one to keep firmly on your radar.

Why You Should Watch This Space

In an era of endless content, the promise of a short, nostalgic visual novel is incredibly appealing. It offers a focused, memorable experience that respects the player’s time while delivering a powerful emotional punch.

“In Search of the Ice Pop” is a testament to the power of solo indie development and narrative art. We can’t wait to dive into this quest for a forgotten friendship and the bittersweet taste of memory.

“In Search of the Ice Pop” currently has its Steam store page live, and while the official release date is yet to be announced, you can wishlist it now to be the first to know when this melancholic journey begins!

  • The Trial is Open: Stepping into the Twisted World of Side Effects

The Trial is Open: Stepping into the Twisted World of Side Effects

Free Lives, the South African studio known for the explosive patriotism of Broforce, the ludicrous VR combat of GORN, and the beautiful restoration of Terra Nil, has a knack for surprising players. Their latest venture, Side Effects (published by Free Lives, developed by hirohun, Mr.Pootsley, Jaybooty, and Lofar42), is a sharp turn into psychological strategy and nerve-wracking chance, delivering an experience that is equal parts dark, compelling, and utterly ruthless.

This is not a game about healing. This is a game about outlasting.

    A Game of Medical Roulette

Side Effects is a tense, turn-based strategy game built around the high-stakes concept of “pill roulette,” drawing clear inspiration from the success of games like Buckshot Roulette. The premise is simple but chilling: you are a test subject in a grim medical trial, and only one patient will walk away.

The core gameplay loop is a brutal dance of deduction and luck:

    1. The Dose: Each round, you and your opponent(s) face a selection of pills. These come in different colors, but their effects are masked. You must choose a pill to consume, knowing one of them might mean instant death.
    2. Resistance is Key: You start with a limited Resistance (your health bar). Pills can be helpful (restoring resistance), harmful (lowering it), or, most terrifyingly, instantly fatal. Zero resistance means you lose the trial.
    3. The Bluff: Since the pills are shuffled and their effects unknown to the opponent, the game becomes a psychological battle. Does your opponent’s confident choice mean they know it’s a safe pill, or are they bluffing to push you into taking a fatal dose?

    Experimental Items: Shifting the Odds

What prevents Side Effects from being a purely random coin flip is the introduction of Experimental Items. Between rounds, players can strategically select items that offer temporary advantages or allow for powerful manipulation of the pill pool.

These items are where the real strategy—and betrayal—comes into play:

    • Vaccines to protect yourself from a harmful effect.
    • Mouth Clamps to restrict an opponent’s pill choice.
    • Hammers to destroy a pill, letting you eliminate a known threat or, more often, a known safe pill to raise the stakes for your opponent.
    • Syringes to reverse or reveal effects.

Mastering these tools is essential. A well-timed use of an item can completely flip the odds and turn a doomed round into a decisive victory, putting it on par with the strategic depth of card games.

    Dark Aesthetics and Psychological Horror

True to Free Lives’ history of edgy and provocative titles, Side Effects leans heavily into a dark, surreal aesthetic. The environment is a cold, sterile, and unsettling hospital room, and the first-person perspective keeps the tension squarely on your choices and the reaction of the patient across the table.

The psychological horror doesn’t just come from the risk of death, but from the realization that to survive, you must actively plot to make your opponent take the deadly pill. It’s a clean, clinical setting for a dirty, cutthroat game.

    Final Verdict: A Tense Must-Play

Side Effects is a fantastic addition to the emerging “roulette-style” genre. It takes the terrifying luck of the draw and wraps it in a strategic layer of item management, bluffing, and deduction.

If you enjoy fast-paced strategy games, the tension of a high-risk gamble, and a dark sense of humor, this is a prescription you should definitely fill. It’s a testament to the developers’ ability to take a simple mechanic and build a deeply compelling, anxiety-inducing experience.

Platform: PC (Steam) Genre: Indie, Strategy, Psychological Horror Mode: Single Player and Online Multiplayer (up to 4 players)

Dive Deep, Then Delve Deeper: Why Dave the Diver and “Into the Jungle” Are a Must-Play!

Dave the Diver has been making waves (pun absolutely intended) in the gaming world since its release, charming players with its unique blend of deep-sea exploration, sushi restaurant management, and quirky characters. But just when you thought you’d plumbed the depths of its delightful gameplay, Mintrocket dropped the “Into the Jungle” DLC, adding a whole new layer of adventure to an already fantastic experience.

If you haven’t jumped into the world of Dave yet, or if you’re wondering whether the new DLC is worth your time, let me tell you: both are an absolute treat.

The Allure of the Deep: What Makes Dave the Diver So Special?

At its core, Dave the Diver is a game about, well, diving and serving sushi. But it’s the seamless way these two seemingly disparate elements are woven together that makes it so compelling.

Underwater Wonderland: Each dive into the Blue Hole is a discovery. The vibrant marine life, the mysterious sunken ruins, and the ever-present danger of sharks and other deep-sea creatures create a thrilling and often surprising experience. You’ll spend your days spearfishing, catching exotic species, and scavenging for materials, all while trying to manage your oxygen and inventory. The exploration feels genuinely rewarding, and the procedurally generated elements keep each dive fresh.

  • Lootbane Official Playtest: Risk, Reward, and the Pursuit of Power

Lootbane Official Playtest: Risk, Reward, and the Pursuit of Power

The dungeon-crawling community is buzzing! Solo Developer Milo Panta and Human Qube have officially opened the sign-ups for the first public Steam Playtest of Lootbane, an addictive roguelite RPG that puts the thrill of the gamble at the heart of every decision.

If you’re a fan of the loot chase in Diablo, the tactical party-building of Darkest Dungeon, and the compelling, repeatable loops of Loop Hero, then it’s time to head to Steam and request access to a game that promises to scratch that insatiable itch for power.

    What is Lootbane?

Lootbane is a challenging, loot-driven auto-battler where loot is power, and risk is everything. You start by choosing a hero and then embark on an unpredictable journey across shifting regions. The core of the gameplay isn’t about button-mashing, but about smart planning and daring choices as you build your ultimate warband.

Key Features You’ll See in the Playtest:

    • Warband Building & Synergies: Recruit a band of followers, each with stacking passive auras and active abilities. The fun is in experimenting and finding explosive combinations to break the system.
    • Risk-Reward Dungeons: Dive into dangerous dungeons where every floor you descend multiplies the gold and the potential for rare loot—but also the danger. The central question is always: Do you cash out your haul and return to the city, or push deeper for legendary treasure?
    • Unidentified Loot: Gear remains a mystery until you survive the run and identify it, turning every successful extraction into a moment of true suspense.
    • Dynamic Regions: The playtest showcases the first Forest Lands region, which ensures every single run unfolds differently with randomized paths, merchants, healing shrines, and of course, perilous dungeons.

    Fortune Favors the Brave

The magic of Lootbane lies in its simple rules and endless choices. It’s a game that respects your time with its repeatable, bite-sized runs, but punishes greed with the loss of your un-banked gear.

The moment-to-moment gameplay has been described as a successful blend of high-level strategy and satisfying buildcrafting. You’re constantly tuning your roster, managing your resources, and making critical pathing choices: when to heal, when to shop, and when to challenge fate by descending one more floor. The power spike from a well-put-together synergy is your reward for daring to push the limit.

    Join the Community-Driven Development

This first public playtest is a crucial step for solo developer Milo Panta. The goal is clear: gather honest community feedback on balance, pacing, UI clarity, and the overall satisfaction of the core design philosophy.

If you jump in, you’re not just playing a game; you’re helping to shape it! Players are strongly encouraged to join the official Lootbane Discord to share their impressions, report bugs, and actively contribute to the game’s development.

The community’s early feedback is already proving vital, focusing on areas like clearer stat explanations, quality-of-life improvements for inventory, and overall difficulty scaling—all essential steps for honing this addictive experience.

    How to Join the Playtest

    • When: The playtest runs from November 27th to December 4th, 2025 (a full week!).
    • Where: Head over to the official Lootbane Steam Page and click the “Request Access” button.

Don’t miss your chance to be one of the first to build a legendary warband… or lose it all to your insatiable greed.

  • Unleash Your Inner Architect: Dive into the GRAVELORD Level Editor!

Unleash Your Inner Architect: Dive into the GRAVELORD Level Editor!

If you’ve been blasting through the hellish, secret-laden levels of GRAVELORD, the retro “boomer shooter” from Fatbot Games, you already know the intoxicating mix of fast-paced action and intricate level design it offers. But what if you could put your own stamp on the world of Queedo the Gravedigger?

Well, now you can! The GRAVELORD Level Editor is officially live, inviting players to go from being a slayer of darkness to a creator of it. This isn’t just a simple map maker—it’s the very same TrenchBroom-inspired tool that the developers and veteran Quake mappers used to build the game’s official episodes.

Why the GRAVELORD Editor is a Game-Changer

Inspired by classic FPS mapping tools, the GRAVELORD editor manages to be both powerful for veterans and approachable for newcomers. The team at Fatbot Games has prioritized a rapid, creative, block-based workflow, making the journey from a simple idea to a fully realized, functional level surprisingly swift.

    • TrenchBroom-Inspired Workflow: If you have experience with older FPS editors like those for Quake, you’ll feel right at home. The block-based geometry tools are intuitive and built for speed, allowing you to rapidly sculpt your level’s structure.
    • “Hotspotting” for Quick Art: One of the editor’s unique features is “hotspotting” functionality. This genius feature allows for quick texturing and detailing, turning your basic blockouts into atmospheric, arted spaces without getting bogged down in tedious asset placement.
    • Spectral Surface & Breakable Integration: Level design in GRAVELORD relies heavily on the Spectral Shovel dash and traversal. The editor lets you easily implement GRAVELORD’s unique mechanics, like creating spectral surfaces for movement shortcuts or setting up breakables to create dynamic combat and platforming scenarios.
    • Scripting Freedom: Want a monster closet that only opens after a specific puzzle is solved? Need a complicated puzzle sequence? The built-in Scriptbox allows for scripting levels to your exact specifications, from simple triggers to complex, overarching mechanics.

Join the Community & Start Creating

The best part of an accessible level editor is the community content it fosters. Fatbot Games has fully integrated the editor with the Steam Workshop.

This means sharing your creations is effortless, and exploring new community-made levels and even entire custom episodes is just a click away. The editor ensures a quick and seamless transition between the editing view and an instant playtest within the game, so you can rapidly iterate on your design.

To celebrate the launch and encourage new talent, Fatbot Games has even hosted Map Jams with cash prizes—a fantastic incentive for both seasoned designers and those dipping their toes into level creation for the first time.

If you love the challenging, secret-filled level design of classic ’90s shooters, the GRAVELORD Level Editor is your chance to stop just playing the game and start making the game. Grab your virtual shovel and start digging your way to level design glory!

  • Demonschool: A Must-Play Blend of Tactics, Spooks, and College Life!

Demonschool: A Must-Play Blend of Tactics, Spooks, and College Life!

Are you ready to trade in your textbooks for tactical grid battles and your late-night study sessions for demon-slaying? Then look no further than Demonschool, the captivating tactical RPG from developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games. This isn’t your average high school drama—it’s a vibrant, spooky, and deeply engaging adventure that blends the best of classic tactics games with a modern, character-driven story.

    What is Demonschool?

Imagine if a classic PlayStation 1-era tactical RPG like Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea had a baby with a spooky, character-focused life sim like Persona. That’s the irresistible core of Demonschool.

You step into the shoes of Faye, the last in a line of demon hunters, who is forced to attend a college where the student body is, shall we say, a little undead. The island college is the gateway to a demonic dimension, and it’s up to Faye and her motley crew of new friends—including a fast-talking ghost, a hulking exorcist, and a mysterious masked martial artist—to keep the supernatural chaos contained.

    Why Demonschool Stands Out

    1. The Electrifying Tactical Combat

The combat system is where Demonschool truly shines, offering a fresh, innovative take on turn-based strategy.

    • Action-Forward Movement: Unlike many grid-based games, the game emphasizes speed and flow. You plan out your entire turn—movement, attacks, and support actions—for all your characters simultaneously before hitting the “Execute” button.
    • Chaining and Synergy: The core mechanic revolves around combos. You’re encouraged to chain character actions together to unleash massive, stylish damage. For example, hitting an enemy with a status effect before a character with a damage-boosting skill attacks is the key to victory.
    • Simple, but Deep: The rules are easy to grasp, but the complexity of the enemy types and the environment ensures that every battle requires careful planning and smart positioning.

    2. A World Brimming with Style and Spook

Demonschool is drenched in a gorgeous, distinct aesthetic that feels nostalgic yet totally unique:

    • Visuals: The game uses chunky, vibrant 3D character models that evoke the low-poly charm of the PS1 era, all set against beautifully rendered, atmospheric environments.
    • Atmosphere: The vibe is perfectly balanced between genuinely creepy horror elements and playful, often hilarious, supernatural college antics.

    3. Life at the End of the World (and Semester)

Beyond the battlefield, the character interactions and relationship building are just as important as your tactical prowess.

    • The Life Sim Layer: Between missions, you manage Faye’s schedule, choosing what to study, who to hang out with, and what activities to pursue.
    • Deep Social Links: Spending time with your teammates builds trust and unlocks powerful Relationship Skills—new passive abilities or devastating combo attacks that are vital in combat. This seamlessly ties the narrative and gameplay together, making every friendship you forge feel meaningful.

Tips for Starting Your Demon Hunt

    • Focus on Relationships Early: Prioritize hanging out with your core team. Those unlocked Relationship Skills will be far more valuable than a few extra points in a stat from studying.
    • Experiment with Combos: Don’t be afraid to try different action chains in combat. The system encourages creativity. Look for opportunities to set up big damage with status effects and positioning.
    • Check the Battlefield: Always survey the map before committing to a turn. Look for environmental hazards or objects that can be exploited for massive tactical advantage.

    The Final Grade: A+

Demonschool is more than just a successful marriage of genres; it’s a confident, stylish, and immensely fun tactical adventure that deserves a spot in your rotation. Whether you’re a veteran of tactical RPGs or just looking for a compelling story with satisfying turn-based combat, Faye’s journey through this haunted college campus is one you won’t want to miss.

  • Go Plus Ultra in the Battle Royale Arena with MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE!

Go Plus Ultra in the Battle Royale Arena with MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE!

The world of My Hero Academia has smashed its way into the free-to-play battle royale scene, and it’s quite the spectacle! MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE (MHUR) throws 24 players—heroes and villains alike—into a chaotic, Quirk-fuelled rumble. If you’ve been looking for a battle royale with a serious anime twist, you might just want to pay attention to this one.

The Core Gameplay: A Quirk-tastic Twist

At its heart, MHUR is a team-based battle royale. You drop in with two other players, forming a squad of three, and the last team standing claims the victory.

But the real flavour comes from the characters and their Quirks. Unlike traditional BR games where you hunt for weapons, here you’re hunting for Quirk Skill Cards that let you level up your character’s unique abilities. Every character has three main Quirk skills, and as you find more cards of the same colour/type, you can make those abilities stronger and more devastating.

The roster is split into five archetypes:

    • Strike (close combat specialists)
    • Assault (mid-range fighters)
    • Rapid (high mobility)
    • Technical (area control and traps)
    • Support (healing and buffs)

This classification makes teamwork genuinely crucial. A good mix of a frontline tank like Cementoss, a damage dealer like Bakugo, and a healer like Recovery Girl (if she was in the game!) can make all the difference. You can’t just run in guns blazing—coordination is key to capitalising on your team’s diverse powers.

Looting, Leveling, and Last Man Standing

    The core loop is straightforward:

    1. Drop in and start looting boxes.
    2. Collect Quirk Skill Cards to level up your three main abilities.
    3. Rescue/Interact with civilians for bonus points and rewards.
    4. Engage other teams in fast-paced, vertical combat.
    5. Survive as the safe zone shrinks, forcing confrontation.

The maps are designed with plenty of buildings and verticality, making for dynamic fights where you can jump across rooftops as Iida or scale buildings as Ochaco Uraraka. When Quirks start flying, the whole arena lights up with that signature My Hero Academia anime style.

    The Catch: Free-to-Play Structure

It’s a free game, which is brilliant, but it does come with the usual caveat: a gacha system. While you start with a decent handful of characters unlocked, many of the fan-favourites and arguably more powerful options are locked behind a character-specific grind or, less favourably, the gacha roll.

You can earn currency and “Rental Tickets” to try out locked characters, but permanently unlocking them can be a grind. This has been a sticking point for many players in the community, as it feels a bit pay-to-win when some of the best heroes and villains aren’t readily available.

However, the game is constantly being updated with new seasons, characters, and events, like the recent introduction of Armored All Might, which keeps the meta shifting and the action fresh.

The Verdict: Should You Download It?

If you’re a fan of the My Hero Academia franchise, this is a must-try. It captures the energy and visual spectacle of the anime perfectly, and there is genuinely a lot of fun to be had using your favourite character’s Quirk in a competitive environment.

The moment you coordinate an attack with your mates, combining your Quirks for a massive takedown, you’ll feel that “Plus Ultra!” rush.

Yes, the initial character unlock system can be a bit of a nuisance, and at launch, the mode variety was slim (though they are adding new modes like Area Control Battle), but as a free, fast-paced, and flashy team shooter, it’s an exciting addition to the battle royale genre.

MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE is available for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). Get out there and start mastering your Quirk!

  • Winter Survival: A Chilling Descent into Survival and Sanity

Winter Survival: A Chilling Descent into Survival and Sanity

If you’re anything like me, the words ‘survival game’ immediately conjure up images of a chilly landscape, a dwindling fire, and a wolf pack howling just beyond the trees. But what if that terror was as much in your head as it was outside your makeshift shelter? Enter Winter Survival, the latest title from DRAGO Entertainment, which has just made its full 1.0 release on PC via Steam.

This isn’t just another craft-and-conquer survival sim. It’s an unrelenting, story-driven experience that blends the brutal realism of wilderness endurance with a psychological twist that genuinely sets it apart.

Separated, Stranded, and Losing Your Grip

The game thrusts you into the boots of Danny, an explorer whose simple hike with friends goes horribly wrong when a sudden, freak blizzard separates him from his group in the unforgiving Mount Washington State Park.

The core gameplay loop is classic survival: scavenge for materials, manage your hunger and cold, craft basic tools, and set up camp. But the mountain is dynamic, constantly reacting to your presence, increasing the challenge as you progress. However, the real menace isn’t just the freezing temperatures or the ravenous predators—it’s your Sanity.

As isolation, hunger, and stress bite down, Danny’s grip on reality starts to slip. This manifests in hallucinations, panic attacks, and even ‘delusional predators’ that become just as dangerous as the real wolves and bears stalking the wilderness. Managing this ‘trauma meter’ is your most fragile resource, adding a fascinating layer of psychological tension that’s often missing from the genre.

What’s New in the 1.0 Release?

After a stint in Early Access, the full release delivers the final act of Danny’s harrowing story, bringing his adventure to a gripping conclusion. But that’s not all. DRAGO Entertainment has packed the 1.0 launch with a wealth of new content and features:

    • Expanded Crafting: Get your hands on new armour and weapons, including a flintlock firearm, to better fend off the mountain’s vicious residents.
    • Reworked Combat: Prepare for more intense, revamped fights against the wildlife—the wolves and man-eating bears are more formidable than ever.
    • Moments of Tranquility: Balance the high-stakes survival with a new fishing minigame (a lovely, if brief, distraction from the impending frostbite).
    • New Game Modes: Beyond the story, test your grit in the fully customisable Survival Mode sandbox, or take on the leaderboard challenge in the brutal Cold Wave Mode, where you battle ceaseless blizzard conditions to collect gold bars.

    Is it Worth the Plunge?

If you’re a fan of survival games like The Long Dark but crave a deeper, more narrative-focused experience with a dash of psychological horror, Winter Survival is absolutely worth checking out.

The game is built on the stunning Unreal Engine 5, which gives the frostbitten forests, abandoned settlements, and shadowed caves a truly impressive, chilling atmosphere. It’s a game that will challenge your resourcefulness and your mind in equal measure.

Currently available on PC via Steam, DRAGO Entertainment has promised that console versions are planned for the future. So, if you’re ready to brave the brutal cold and confront the darkness both outside and inside, wrap up warm and give this one a go.

  • Forge Your Saga: Why You Should Be Excited for NORSE: Oath of Blood

Forge Your Saga: Why You Should Be Excited for NORSE: Oath of Blood

The call of the north is growing louder! For fans of deep strategy and visceral historical narratives, NORSE: Oath of Blood is carving out a thrilling new space on the Viking Age gaming map.

Set for release on February 3, 2026, this upcoming title from Arctic Hazard and Tripwire Presents is far more than just another trip to the fjords—it’s a brutal, turn-based tactical RPG blended with a compelling settlement management system. Get your longships ready; the quest for vengeance is about to begin.

A Saga Forged in Blood and Betrayal

At the heart of the game is the story of Gunnar, a young warrior forced into exile after his father, Jarl Gripr, is brutally murdered by the ruthless Steinarr Far-Spear. The narrative is a classic, grounded Viking revenge saga, which promises an immersive experience.

Adding serious weight to the storytelling, the plot has been crafted with the help of bestselling historical fiction author Giles Kristian. This commitment to a rich, character-driven story means your journey to reclaim honor and justice will be filled with morally complex decisions and impactful alliances that determine the fate of your scattered people.

Mastering the Art of Turn-Based Tactics

NORSE: Oath of Blood is firmly rooted in the turn-based tactics genre, drawing comparisons to classics like XCOM but with a distinctly Viking flair:

    • Terrain Matters: Battles are highly strategic, emphasizing positioning, elevation, and terrain hazards. Flanking an enemy won’t just look cool; it will be a crucial mechanic for survival and victory.
    • Unique Warband Synergy: Each warrior you recruit and train will have a unique skillset. Success lies in building a cohesive warband where unit abilities work in tandem to control the field and outsmart your enemies.
    • Brutal Consequences: Following the historical theme, the game features a permadeath and injury system for your non-hero characters. Losing a fighter isn’t just a number change—it’s a narrative setback that gives weight and gravity to every skirmish.

The Life of a Jarl: Settlement Management

The fight for vengeance extends beyond the battlefield. To challenge a powerful usurper, you must first rebuild your strength.

    • From Camp to Stronghold: You’ll be responsible for overseeing your Viking village as it grows from a small refuge into a fortified stronghold.
    • Resource and Crafting: Managing resources, assigning villagers to roles like craftspeople and farmers, and upgrading structures are vital. Your smithy and armory will directly unlock the better, authentically-crafted weapons and gear your warband needs to survive.
    • The Weight of Leadership: The villagers aren’t just resource generators; they are people whose lives, relationships, and deaths will be central to the story, reinforcing the game’s themes of community and loss.

Final Thoughts and a Word on the Demo

The recently available demo has already garnered a Very Positive reception from players, who praised the atmosphere, writing, and satisfyingly brutal combat. Fans have highlighted how the “adventure mode,” turn-based combat, and settlement building seamlessly weave together to create an engaging campaign loop.

NORSE: Oath of Blood is shaping up to be a must-play for anyone who loves deep strategy, settlement builders, and an unflinchingly grim, historically-inspired Viking narrative. Mark your calendars for February 3, 2026, and prepare to swear your oath.

  • Terrorbytes: A Glimpse into the Digital Darkness

The gaming world is no stranger to horror, but every now and then, a game emerges that truly burrows under your skin and sets up camp. “Terrorbytes” is one such game, a chilling descent into digital dread that leaves you questioning not just the game’s reality, but your own.

From the moment you boot up “Terrorbytes,” you’re not just playing a game; you’re entering a meticulously crafted digital nightmare. The premise is deceptively simple: you’re a data recovery specialist, tasked with retrieving corrupted files from abandoned, ancient computer systems. What you quickly discover, however, is that these aren’t just corrupted files – they’re fractured echoes of forgotten horrors, each byte a whisper of a past tragedy.

The genius of “Terrorbytes” lies in its atmosphere. It’s a masterclass in psychological horror, foregoing cheap jump scares for a slow, suffocating build of dread. The visuals are a grainy, lo-fi marvel, reminiscent of early computer graphics, yet they manage to convey a sense of unease that modern hyper-realistic graphics often struggle to achieve. The sound design is equally brilliant – static whispers, distorted voices, the unsettling hum of old machinery – all conspire to create a soundscape that is both oppressive and strangely inviting.

One of the most innovative aspects of “Terrorbytes” is its unique approach to narrative. Instead of explicit exposition, the story unfolds through fragmented data logs, corrupted images, and cryptic messages found within the systems. You piece together the horrifying events that led to the systems’ abandonment, uncovering a narrative that is as disturbing as it is compelling. It’s a game that respects your intelligence, allowing you to connect the dots and construct your own understanding of the terror.

But be warned: “Terrorbytes” is not for the faint of heart. It delves into themes of isolation, technological paranoia, and the fragility of the human mind when confronted with the unknown. There are moments of genuine terror, not from monsters leaping out of the shadows, but from the unsettling realization of what you’re uncovering, and the lingering question of what might be watching you.

If you’re a fan of horror that prioritizes atmosphere and psychological depth over gore and cheap thrills, then “Terrorbytes” is an absolute must-play. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most terrifying monsters aren’t flesh and blood, but lines of code, lurking in the digital darkness. Just be prepared to leave your lights on for a while after you’ve logged off.

Can’t Stop Rory: Cozy Farming Meets Post-Apocalyptic Defense!

A Sanctuary in the Scrap Pile

In the world of gaming, we’ve seen farming simulations become a comforting staple. But what happens when you blend the gentle rhythm of tending crops with the high-stakes survival of a post-apocalyptic world? You get Can’t Stop Rory, a delightful and surprising new game that’s equal parts cozy garden simulator and frantic tower defense.

    Day: The Cozy Life

As Rory, a stubbornly determined farmer, your main goal during the day is to cultivate a flourishing refuge. This is the part of the game that scratches that classic farming sim itch:

    • Grow & Sell: Plant, water, and harvest a variety of crops. Sell your bounty to other survivors to earn credits.
    • Expansion & Automation: Reinvest those earnings into new seeds, tools, and upgrades. Gradually expand your farm plot-by-plot. For those who love efficiency, you can even unlock robots to automate the routine of planting, watering, and harvesting!
    • Decorate & Optimize: Make your homestead beautiful and organized. A well-laid-out farm isn’t just nice to look at—it’s key to maximizing your profit.

It’s all about creating a little pocket of hope and beauty in a world that has fallen apart. The tactile feel of farming and the satisfying loop of progress make the daytime hours genuinely relaxing.

    Night: The Defense Dilemma

But the sun setting is your cue for a major change in pace. The “Fall” has left the world crawling with the “Unfed,” zombie-like creatures drawn to your valuable crops.

When night falls, Can’t Stop Rory transitions into a pulse-pounding base defense game.

    • Build Your Arsenal: You need to use your daytime earnings to strategically place defenses: build strong barricades, install automated turrets, and set up clever traps.
    • The Mecha: For the ultimate defense, you have access to a super Death Mecha! Jumping into this mechanized suit of armor is where the combat element truly shines, as you take on waves of different types of Unfed.
    • Repair & Rebuild: Once the night is over, you’ll need to repair any damage through quick mini-games before the farming day begins anew.

This day-night loop is what makes the game so addictive. You are constantly balancing the need for daytime expansion and profit against the critical need to be prepared for the nightly onslaught. Every seed planted is a risk, and every credit spent on a turret is a strategic choice for survival.

    Why You Can’t Stop Playing

The genius of Can’t Stop Rory lies in the masterful blend of genres. It subverts expectations by putting a stressful, thrilling challenge directly after a period of calm, cozy work. It’s a game about resource management, strategy, and sheer grit.

Do you risk a little more profit to buy a fancy decoration, or do you invest in that stronger turret you know you’ll need tonight? The stakes are real, and the satisfaction of watching your optimized farm hold the line against a horde of Unfed is truly unmatched.

If you’re looking for a farming sim with a serious twist, or a tower defense game with a soft, yet stubborn heart, Can’t Stop Rory is one you should definitely check out!

What part of the game sounds most interesting to you—the cozy farming by day, or the base defense by night?

  • Face Your Phobia: Why Huntsman is the Ultimate Arachnophobic Nightmare

Face Your Phobia: Why Huntsman is the Ultimate Arachnophobic Nightmare

If you thought you were safe from jump-scares and lurking horrors, think again. A new survival horror game is about to crawl its way onto your PC, and it’s set to exploit one of humanity’s most primal fears: arachnophobia. We’re talking about Huntsman, the upcoming first-person chiller from solo developer OnTheHouse Studios, published by Ten Image Publishing.

Mark your calendars (and maybe book a therapy session) because this is one survival experience that promises to be pure nightmare fuel.

The Web of Intrigue: Plot & Setting

In Huntsman, you step into the boots of a new security guard at Atherton Labs’ Experimental BioSolutions Division. Sounds like a quiet night shift, right? Wrong. Chaos has erupted, and the entire facility is now overrun by multi-legged, predatory horrors.

Your mission is simple, yet terrifyingly difficult: lift the facility lockdown and escape. But between you and freedom are hallways teeming with spiders that hunt with unnerving realism. You are outnumbered, often defenseless, and one wrong move means you become the arachnids’ next meal.

Fear Has Eight Legs: Gameplay Mechanics

What sets Huntsman apart is its commitment to making the spider encounters as tense and realistic as possible.

    • Realistic Behavior: The enemies aren’t just generic monsters; they move, hunt, and react in ways designed to trigger your deepest instincts. Forget simple AI; the game aims for a terrifyingly authentic spider experience.
    • Improvise or Die: You won’t be relying on a powerful arsenal. Your survival depends on using your limited tools—like your flashlight and throwable objects—and the environment to distract, mislead, and evade the swarm. This draws clear inspiration from classic “weaponless” horror titles like Alien: Isolation and Amnesia.
    • Multiple Threats: Atherton Labs isn’t home to just one type of nightmare. Developer OnTheHouse Studios is revealing multiple arachnid species, each with unique behaviors:
      • The Huntsman: Fast-moving stalkers that hunt based on noise, forcing you to sneak or risk a terrifying charge.
      • The Orb Weaver: Aerial assassins that lurk above, waiting to snatch slow-moving prey and cocoon them alive. You’ll have to remember to look up.

Why This Game Will Make Your Skin Crawl

The genius of Huntsman lies in the psychological horror it leverages. The developers have focused on sound design to heighten the dread—the distant sounds of skittering legs on concrete or the sudden, erratic sprint when you’re spotted. The tension is built not on relentless action, but on the expectation of horror, the knowledge that something eight-legged is always nearby.

The game is scheduled to fully launch on November 27, 2025, on PC (Steam). If the overwhelming, terrified response to the demo is anything to go by, this is a title poised to be the next big name in survival horror.

Are you ready to face your fears? If you’ve enjoyed games that rely on stealth, environmental puzzle-solving, and a constant, stomach-churning sense of dread, then Huntsman belongs on your wishlist.
