Shift Your Signal: Mike Huguenor Drops Retro Side-Scroller Companion Game on Steam and Game Boy Cartridge!

Indie punk veteran Mike Huguenor—celebrated for his razor-sharp riffsmanship and signature guitar tone in Jeff Rosenstock’s band, Hard Girls, and Shinobu—has officially launched his debut project as an indie game developer: Surfing the Web With the Alien: The Game.

Released to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his acclaimed 2025 sophomore solo album of the same name, this retro side-scroller is out now on PC via Steam. In true DIY fashion, physical enthusiasts and retro collectors can also grab hand-assembled, limited-edition Game Boy cartridges to experience the game on classic hardware.

From Chords to Code: A DIY Milestone

Known for pushing the boundaries of instrumental guitar music, Huguenor took his creative vision a step further by coding, designing, and scoring the companion game himself. Surfing the Web With the Alien: The Game channels the nostalgia of 8-bit and 16-bit handheld classics, translating the surreal, hyper-connected, and guitar-driven universe of his solo album into a playable adventure.

Players navigate alien landscapes and digital battlegrounds, accompanied by a chiptune-infused reimagining of the album’s tracks.

“I’ve always seen music and gaming through the same DIY lens,” Huguenor shared regarding the release. “Building this game was a way to expand the story of the record and give people a completely new way to interact with the music.”

    How to Play

    • PC / Steam: Available now for download on Steam, optimised for modern rigs while maintaining an authentic retro feel.
    • Physical Game Boy Cartridge: Limited-run physical cartridges are available via Huguenor’s official store. Each cartridge is hand-assembled, making it a rare collector’s item for both retro gaming aficionados and punk rock fans alike.

Whether you’re a long-time fan of Huguenor’s virtuosic fretwork or a lover of retro side-scrollers, Surfing the Web With the Alien: The Game offers a unique crossover between DIY indie rock and chip-era gaming nostalgia.

Signal Detected. Someone’s Listening: Cyberpunk RPG ‘Radiotext’ Hits Steam This September

If you’re a fan of immersive retro interfaces, cypherpunk lore, and high-stakes narrative hacking, tune your dials. Indie developer and publisher Alp Arslan has officially announced that Radiotext, an upcoming cyberpunk hacking RPG built around a forgotten 1990s communication network, is scheduled to launch on September 30th.

For players eager to jack into the matrix early, a free playable demo is available now on Steam.

Decipher the Airwaves: What is Radiotext?

Set in a near-future dystopian world dominated by corporate overlords, Radiotext plunges players into a covert underground resistance. When traditional digital communication is monitored and compromised, activists turn to a forgotten relic: a 1990s cryptographic software network that utilises radio waves to transmit data undetected.

You step into this analogue-meets-cyberpunk world after being handed a mysterious USB drive. Plugging it in drops you straight into a dark, cryptographic radio net as a complete outsider. Your goal? Navigate terminal interfaces, decrypt frequencies, and piece together the mysteries hidden within the static.

    Key Features & Gameplay Highlights

    • Retro Terminal Aesthetics: Featuring an authentic terminal interface, custom typing mechanics, static audio design, and customizable UI settings (including colour nodes and contrast controls).
    • Deep Narrative & Dynamic Choices: Interact with over 12 complex, fully written characters—ranging from fellow activists and broken survivors to digital ghosts. Trust is scarce, and a mole may be hiding among the ranks.
    • Hidden Words & Branching Paths: Dialogue isn’t just about selecting pre-made answers; hidden keywords and secret input paths alter how conversations unfold and shape the overarching story.
    • Focused Experience with High Replayability: The main campaign offers a tight 3–4 hour narrative designed for impactful playthroughs, featuring multiple endings and interconnecting paths that encourage replayability.

Try the Free Steam Demo Today

If you want a taste of the analogue rebellion before the full release, the free Steam demo provides a 30 to 60-minute standalone look into the core mechanics and narrative branching. Early player feedback on Steam has already praised its atmospheric sound design, retro immersion, and clever mechanics.

Portable Post-Apocalypse: DayZ Lands on Nintendo Switch 2 with the ‘Cool Edition’

After more than seven years of delivering ruthless, high-stakes survival gameplay to PC and console players, Bohemia Interactive’s iconic hardcore title DayZ has officially expanded to a brand-new platform. The legendary survival game has made its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the ultimate DayZ Cool Edition, unleashing its unforgiving, player-driven sandbox onto Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.

Whether you are looking to brave the post-apocalyptic wasteland on your big screen or survive fresh infected hordes while on the train, Nintendo Switch 2 players can now experience the full weight of every life-or-death decision wherever they go.

What’s Included in the DayZ Cool Edition?

Developed in collaboration with Virtuos Labs – Prague, the DayZ Cool Edition brings the definitive survival bundle to the Switch 2. Out of the box, players receive access to the base game along with its premier expansions, offering three sprawling, distinct environments to explore:

    • Chernarus: The classic, iconic 225 km² Soviet post-apocalyptic landscape where the legend began.
    • Livonia: A lush, 163 km² territory filled with dense forests, overgrown ruins, and unpredictable wildlife.
    • Sakhal (DayZ Frostline Expansion): A frozen volcanic archipelago that tests even veteran survivors with extreme sub-zero temperatures, icy hazards, and harsh weather conditions.

The launch version comes fully updated with content up to the 1.29 Road to Badlands update, ensuring Switch 2 players step into an up-to-date world with polished mechanics, contaminated gas zones, wildlife hunting, and realistic disease systems.

Tailored for Nintendo Switch 2: Platform-Specific Features

This port isn’t just a direct conversion; it’s built to harness the unique capabilities of Nintendo’s latest hybrid console. Players can expect a seamless experience across all three play modesTV, Tabletop, and Handheld:

    • Enhanced Controls: Precision combat and long-range sniper duels are made easier with responsive Gyro aiming and Joy-Con mouse mode support.
    • Touchscreen Management: Navigate inventory, sort medical supplies, and swap attachments quickly using intuitive touchscreen controls in Handheld mode.
    • Visual Performance: Utilising DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support, the Switch 2 delivers fluid frame rates and crisp visuals whether docked or portable.
    • Server Support: Multi-player survival scales up to 60 players on Chernarus and Livonia, and 50 players on Sakhal. For those who want tailored rules or private sessions, community-hosted servers via Nitrado are fully supported.
    • Family Sharing: Full support for Nintendo’s family-group lending features, making it easier than ever to rally a squad.

    No Hand-Holding, No Second Chances

For newcomers jumping in on Switch 2, DayZ remains famously unyielding. There are no minimaps, no quest markers, and no safety nets. If you starve, contract a disease, or get outgunned by another survivor, death is permanent, and you lose everything on your character.

It’s this ruthless level of tension—where every encounter with another human player could mean an immediate gunfight or the start of a shaky, unwritten alliance—that has kept millions hooked for over seven years. Now, that tension goes everywhere you do.

Are you ready to test your survival instincts on Nintendo Switch 2? Grab your gear, check your temperature, and watch your back.

  • Reclaim Your Own Hometown: Hit Zombie Strategy ‘Infection Free Zone’ Is Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S!

Reclaim Your Own Hometown: Hit Zombie Strategy ‘Infection Free Zone’ Is Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S!

If you’ve ever found yourself walking through your local high street, looking around, and wondering, “How would my neighbourhood hold up in a zombie apocalypse?”—you’re about to get your answer.

The bestselling post-apocalyptic survival-strategy hit Infection Free Zone is officially making its jump to home consoles. Developer Jutsu Games (the creative minds behind 911 Operator and Rustler), alongside publisher Ultimate Games S.A., have confirmed that the game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 27, 2026.

Holding an impressive 80%+ positive rating on Steam across tens of thousands of player reviews, this isn’t just another generic zombie sandbox. Infection Free Zone brings a genuinely groundbreaking twist to the genre: you can play on a real map of your actual town or city.

Survive the Apocalypse… Down Your Local High Street

The core hook that made Infection Free Zone a viral PC phenomenon lies in its integration with OpenStreetMap. By fetching real-world map data, the game allows players to pick virtually any geographical location on Earth and turn it into a tactical, post-apocalyptic battleground.

Your local supermarket? It’s now your primary food distribution centre. The local police station? The best place to scavenge for firearms. The neighbourhood hospital? Essential for setting up a medical bay.

Whether you want to defend central London, fortify a quiet village in the Scottish Highlands, or see if your hometown can withstand thousands of rabid infected, the choice is entirely yours.

Day and Night: A Deadly Tactical Loop

In Infection Free Zone, humanity has been decimated by the fast-acting “Mad Virus.” Society has collapsed, power grids are down, and survivors must adapt to survive. The gameplay follows a tense day-and-night rhythm:

    • By Day (Build & Scavenge): The infected retreat indoors to avoid sunlight, giving you a temporary reprieve. You’ll send survivor squads out to scavenge nearby buildings for canned goods, medical kits, weapons, and construction supplies. Back at base, you’ll adapt real-world structures into functional shelters, power plants, farms, factories, and research centres.
    • By Night (Defend & Survive): When the sun goes down, the infected swarm out in terrifying waves. You must build sturdy walls, erect watchtowers, line up choke points, and position armed squads to keep the horde from overrunning your safe haven.

It isn’t just the infected you need to worry about, either. As you expand, radio contact will connect you with other human factions—some willing to trade or join your colony, and others who will stop at nothing to take what’s yours.

What to Expect on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Console gamers won’t be receiving a watered-down experience. The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releases will launch with all current content from the PC version, with future game updates scheduled to roll out across consoles simultaneously over time.

    Key Features Include:

    • Real-World Global Maps: Select any town or city using real OpenStreetMap data.
    • Deep Settlement Management: Convert existing architecture into functional shelters, research facilities, and production hubs.
    • Dynamic Squad Management: Equip survivors with rifles, vehicles, and gear to defend or explore.
    • Tense Tactical Combat: Real-time strategy elements requiring smart wall placements, watchtower coverage, and night-time defence strategies.

    Release Date & Pricing

Infection Free Zone officially launches digitally on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store on August 27, 2026, priced at $29.99 / €29.99 (or regional equivalent).

Gear up, pick your stronghold, and prepare to defend your own backyard when the horde arrives on console later this month!

  • SIEGE MODE ENGAGED: gamigo Brings ‘State of War’ Back to Relaunched MMORPG Gloria Victis!

SIEGE MODE ENGAGED: gamigo Brings ‘State of War’ Back to Relaunched MMORPG Gloria Victis!

Medieval MMORPG fans, grab your swords and shield walls—the battle for total territory control has just hit a whole new level.

Publisher gamigo has officially brought back State of War, one of the most highly anticipated and community-requested features, to its recently relaunched free-to-play open-world title, Gloria Victis.

If you’ve been looking for an MMORPG where your guild’s combat prowess and strategic coordination actually shape the world map, this update is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

    What is State of War?

At its core, Gloria Victis is built around high-stakes open-world PvP, territorial control, and massive medieval battles. However, State of War is where guild rivalries are truly settled.

The feature introduces structured, high-intensity 30-minute battles designed specifically for guild-versus-guild warfare. Rivals are pitted against each other in all-out siege scenarios, where one side must attack and breach heavy fortifications while the other fights tooth and nail to defend their castle walls.

Unlike spontaneous open-world skirmishes, State of War gives guilds a dedicated window to mobilise their forces, roll out siege engines, refine their defence strategies, and fight for ultimate dominance over crucial territories.

Why the Gloria Victis Relaunch Matters

Since taking the helm and relaunching Gloria Victis as a free-to-play experience, gamigo has been focused on refining its core loop: skill-based directional combat, player-driven economies, and grand-scale faction warfare.

Bringing back State of War demonstrates a clear commitment to listening to the player base. Castle sieges have always been the beating heart of Gloria Victis, and reinstating this mechanics-driven guild war system provides end-game players with the purpose, competition, and adrenaline rush they’ve been craving.

    Key Highlights of the Update:

    • 30-Minute High-Stakes Battles: Fast-paced, focused siege windows that demand quick tactical decision-making.
    • Guild vs. Guild Focus: Prove your guild’s dominance on the server map by capturing or holding key strongholds.
    • True Medieval Warfare: Utilise siege weaponry, hold chokepoints, and master non-target, skill-based directional combat.
    • Free-to-Play Accessibility: With the game’s relaunch under gamigo, new and returning players can jump into the action without a paywall barrier.

    How to Join the Fight

Whether you’re a veteran commander looking to rally your troops or a new player eager to experience raw, skill-based medieval combat, there has never been a better time to jump in. Gloria Victis is available to play for free today. Gather your guild, prepare your siege engines, and claim your legacy on the battlefield!

Martian pioneers, get your chef hats ready—survival on the Red Planet is about to get a whole lot more delicious!

Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Haemimont Games have officially announced Feeding the Future, a brand-new food-oriented content pack for Surviving Mars: Relaunched.

More Than Just Survival: Elevating the Martian Diet

Up until now, keeping your colonists alive on Mars was largely about balancing oxygen levels, maintaining power grids, and pumping out basic rations to prevent starvation. But as Paradox Interactive puts it, modern space pioneers are hungry for more than just raw survival.

In Feeding the Future, food systems are getting a massive overhaul. Colonists will no longer settle for basic nutrient paste—it’s time to build a thriving, sustainable culinary network that directly impacts the mental and physical well-being of your settlement.

    • New Colonist Traits & Commander Profiles: Your population will feel more human than ever with traits like Foodie and Coffee Enthusiast. Lucky commanders might even recruit a rare Celebrity Chef! To help lead the charge, players can also choose two new Commander Profiles: Horticulturist and Agronomist.

  • Total Realism Overhaul: Bodycam v0.8 ‘Locked and Loaded’ Rebuilds the Hyper-Realistic Shooter From the Ground Up

Total Realism Overhaul: Bodycam v0.8 ‘Locked and Loaded’ Rebuilds the Hyper-Realistic Shooter From the Ground Up

Independent developer Reissad Studio has officially released the first instalment of a four-part devlog series detailing v0.8 “Locked and Loaded,” the massive upcoming major update for their hyper-realistic first-person shooter, Bodycam. Scheduled to launch on September 2, 2026, on Steam, this update represents a monumental turning point for the title, completely rebuilding core mechanics from the ground up to elevate photorealism, immersion, and tactical depth to unprecedented heights.

The debut devlog focuses heavily on sweeping overhauls to animations, loadout systems, and user experience (UX), giving players a look at how the game will make operators feel far more human, grounded, and physically present in high-stress combat zones.

    Next-Gen Contextual & Procedural Animations

To make player avatars move and react with authentic human physics, Reissad Studio is introducing complex contextual and procedural animation systems. Weapon handling, reload motions, and physical stance adjustments will no longer rely on static preset animations. Instead, they will dynamically adapt in real-time based on an operator’s:

    • Stress levels and adrenaline
    • Current stance and proximity to cover or combat
    • Ammunition type and weapon condition

Key additions like realistic bodycam camera adjustments, organic hand-position variations, and visceral, instinctive flinching responses during nearby explosions add a profound layer of tactical grit to every firefight.

Structured Loadout System & In-Game Progression

Up until now, gearing up in Bodycam was relatively minimal. Update v0.8 replaces this with a deeply structured Loadout system. Gamers will now be able to fully customise their operational kits across several slots:

    • Primary & Secondary Firearms
    • Melee Tools
    • Explosives & Lethals
    • Tactical Gadgets

Equipment and items will be unlockable through player progression and RP (Reissad Points), giving long-time fans a clear, rewarding progression path.

High-Tech Tactical Toys: FPV Drones, RC Cars, and Mid-Match Tablets

Tactical flexibility is getting a serious boost in Locked and Loaded. Players will gain access to physics-based FPV drones and explosive RC cars, allowing squads to scout tight corridors or deliver lethal surprises from around corners.

Furthermore, traditional pause and UI menus are being swapped out in favour of an immersive in-game tablet system. Rather than freezing the screen or opening abstract menus, operators will physically pull out a digital tablet mid-match to adjust gear, check map data, or reconfigure settings—forcing players to stay aware of their surroundings, as taking your eyes off the room leaves you completely vulnerable to enemy attack.

What’s Coming Next? Three More Devlogs En Route

As Studio Director Luca Dassier noted:

“The ‘Locked and Loaded’ update is much more than just adding new content; it’s about shaping the future of Bodycam. Our relentless goal remains absolute realism and immersion, never seen or felt quite like this.”

This first devlog is only the beginning. Reissad Studio will roll out three additional devlog videos leading up to the September 2, 2026 launch, covering:

    1. Sound Design Overhauls (Audio propagation, occlusion, dynamic soundscapes)
    2. The New “Trenches” Map
    3. Massive Quality of Life (QoL) & System Improvements

With its foundation completely overhauled, Bodycam v0.8 is positioning itself as one of the most ambitious updates in tactical FPS history.

  • Pave Paradise, Put Up a Parking Lot: ‘Car Park Capital’ Hits Steam This October

Pave Paradise, Put Up a Parking Lot: ‘Car Park Capital’ Hits Steam This October

City builders often challenge players to craft eco-friendly utopias, optimise public transit, and build walkable, green spaces. Publisher MicroProse and developer Hilkojj Interactive are taking a wildly different—and hilariously cynical—approach.

MicroProse has officially announced that Car Park Capital, the tongue-in-cheek strategy and management simulation about converting functional, idyllic towns into car-dependent automotive paradises, is set to launch in Early Access on October 9, 2026, via Steam.

    What is Car Park Capital?

In Car Park Capital, you are hired as a corporate agent for “Big Auto.” Your sole directive is to unleash the “Freedom of Car Dependency” on unsuspecting, peaceful communities.

Instead of laying down bike lanes or planting community gardens, your objective is to buy up pristine land, demolish homes, drill for oil, and cover every square inch of green space with endless oceans of concrete and multi-story parking garages.

Featuring a charming isometric pixel art style reminiscent of classic 1990s tycoon games, Car Park Capital blends nostalgic management gameplay with biting modern satire.

    Key Features & Gameplay Mechanics

While the premise is absurd, the simulation mechanics underneath are deep, engaging, and serious:

    • Pave the Way to Profit: Buy land, flatten neighbourhoods, and design sprawling parking infrastructure—from massive flat lots to complex 3D multi-level parking structures.
    • Propaganda & Brainwashing: Citizens won’t naturally want to give up walkable towns. You’ll need to deploy aggressive pro-car propaganda using billboards, statues, megaphones, and car vending machines to turn everyday pedestrians into hardcore auto-enthusiasts.
    • Supply Chains & Gas Stations: Drill for oil, manage refineries, and supply cheap gasoline to ensure your citizens stay hooked on driving. You can even build drive-thru restaurants, ATMs, and coffee shops to ensure nobody ever has to set foot on a sidewalk again.
    • Handle Anti-Car Protesters: “Walkism” and urbanist ideologies pose a direct threat to your bottom line. When anti-petrol protesters block your drive-thrus, you’ll need to resort to drastic measures—including deploying riot police trucks—to keep traffic flowing.
    • Track Your Empire with the Stat-O-Matic: Monitor citizen thoughts, parking fees, fuel costs, and profit margins with granular in-game analytical tools.
    • Diverse Scenarios & Mod Support: Transform settings ranging from Atomic-era American suburbs to the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt and beach resorts in Florida. Plus, built-in Lua modding support allows players to customise scripts and content right out of the box.

Release Date & How to Play

Gamers can dive into the chaos when Car Park Capital launches on Steam Early Access on October 9, 2026.

Whether you’re a fan of retro management classics like Theme Hospital and RollerCoaster Tycoon or just looking for a clever twist on the city-builder genre, this is one title to keep on your radar. Head over to Steam now to add Car Park Capital to your wishlist!

Rather than manually micromanaging every single troop or worker, players build automated production lines, conveyor networks, and factories to continuously construct, equip, and field massive armies.

Key features to expect during the playtest:

    • Automated Logistics: Design complex assembly lines that process raw resources directly into combat-ready war machines and weapons.
    • Massive-Scale Battles: Command large-scale armies built from the fruits of your efficient manufacturing networks.
    • Strategic Expansion: Secure crucial resource nodes across dynamic maps while fending off opposing forces and protecting your factory infrastructure.

    How to Join the Playtest

The open playtest is live right now on Steam and will run through August 24.

Getting in on the action is straightforward:

    1. Head over to the Warfactory page on Steam.
    2. Scroll down to the playtest banner and click “Request Access.”
    3. Once granted, download the build and start constructing your industrial war machine!

Because this playtest is part of the Ukrainian Games Festival 2026, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to support talent from Ukraine’s thriving game development community while providing valuable feedback to help shape the game’s final release.

Don’t wait—fire up Steam, optimise your conveyor belts, and lead your automated legions to victory before the playtest ends on August 24!

Into the Abyss: ‘Entropy’ Delivers PS1-Style Tactical Grimness from the Creators of ‘Dread Delusion’

Indie studio Lovely Hellplace (the creative minds behind the critically acclaimed open-world RPG Dread Delusion) and publisher DreadXP have unleashed their next dark, atmospheric project upon the gaming world: Entropy.

Now available on PC via Steam Early Access for $11.99, Entropy trades the open-world exploration of King’s Field and Morrowind for a sinister, low-poly tactical RPG heavily inspired by classic console JRPGs of the PSX era.

If you are a fan of old-school mechanics, retro aesthetics, and bleak, world-ending fantasy, here is everything you need to know about this brutal new adventure.

A World Ending Not with a Bang, But a Whimper

Unlike standard post-apocalyptic tales that feature grand cataclysms or nuclear fallouts, the world of Entropy is dying slowly. There was no single world-ending event—only the relentless, cruel march of time and an inexplicable, global infertility.

Settlements in the barren moor of Draenog are squalid, medieval, and ruled by cruel tyrants. Outside these feeble safe havens, accursed creatures roam the desolate lands.

Your journey doesn’t start with a legendary prophecy. You begin as part of a theatre troupe in the town of Draenog, performing a play when demons suddenly breach the city gates. Armed only with a wooden prop sword, you must gather your troupe, survive the immediate slaughter, and lead a desperate expedition into the depths of hell to halt the demonic incursion.

    Key Gameplay Features

    • Tactical Turn-Based Combat: Engage in tactical battles inspired by classic 90s JRPGs. Strategy is everything when fighting off demonic hordes.
    • Limb-Targeting & Dismemberment System: Tactical combat in Entropy lets you target enemy limbs directly. Severing limbs weakens foes and disables their deadlier attacks—though as the developers note, you can still run for your life if you have two legs and no arms!
    • Manage a Party of 6: Control up to six characters in battle. Assemble a diverse squad, level up stats, and unlock powerful perks.
    • Expendable Mercenaries: In a world where life is cheap, mercenaries are ready for hire. When party members inevitably fall in combat, hire fresh meat to fill the gaps in your ranks.
    • Nostalgic Low-Poly Visuals: Featuring a retro, 32-bit PS1 aesthetic, the low-poly graphics deliver a rich, eerie atmosphere that evokes classic late-90s RPG nostalgia.

    Early Access Roadmap

Entropy launches into Steam Early Access with Act 1: The Gloaming Isles fully playable—representing roughly a quarter of the full experience. Act 1 features two main towns, three deep dungeons, and numerous side locations, quests, characters, armours, and spells.

Developer Lovely Hellplace plans for the game to remain in Early Access for approximately one year, releasing major updates corresponding to Acts 2 and 3 as the game develops toward a full 1.0 release.
