The Mandalorian is returning for the second season of being chased around the galaxy by enemies that want only one thing, the mystical “Child” thought of being the same race as Yoda, who is only just beginning to develop his powers.
At the end of the first season, the Mandalorian had just escaped by the skin of teeth after being hunted down by Moff Gideon a former officer in the Imperial Security Bureau and who was directly responsible for the elimination of the Mandalorians during the great purge.
It seems that there is more here, on the one hand, Gideon wants the Child for himself and has a score to settle with the Mandalorian, probably because he is a witness to the great purge.
Set just after the fall of the Empire, there are many factions trying to grab a piece of the action, it seems that Moff Gideon has managed to build a force of ex-empire troops and officers, along with a substantial amount of weapons, ships and other equipment.
