There was a time when any launch event from Apple would have attracted the media and fans in the hundreds, but these days things are so low key for all tech firms that it is easy for these events to happen and then fade away without much hype.
However, this event is a bit different as it heralds a new direction for Apple and the users if the MacBook. For the first time, the MacBook will be using an Apple-made chip instead of the Intel version.
This might not mean much for many MacBook owners, but for the company, it gives them independence and puts future design solely in the hands of the Apple design team. This might seem like a new direction, but really it is a step back to the old days when a business like Apple had control of its own destiny, rather than relying on other businesses to step up for them.
