Millions of players who participated in the last New World beta testing which was available for people who pre-ordered the game were amazed by the experience.
The game brings freshness on the MMORPG game scene – a completely new experience featuring open gameplay, classes play-style where every player can chose to develop their own character as they like, even with mechanics considered ‘fancy’ by using shields and magic.
The game features Aeternum, the main island based around the mythology of Atlantis in the 16th century. Unlike other MMO’s the only playable and available race is humans, which are further split into three factions called the Marauders, the Syndicate and the Covenant, each combating the other through massive settlement and castle sieges, fights for resources and power.
The game’s economy is run by the currenced called NW Coins, very similar as in the other MMO games (example: WoW Shadowlands Gold). These coins are needed for everything in the game, buying spells and training, weapons and constant armor upgrades as the player progresses from level 1 to level 60.
Just like other MMO games, each adventurer needs to progress to the maximum level where the “real” high-end game starts. This is a very long, time consuming process which can take approximately 2-3 months to complete. It is done by constantly completing game missions known as quests and objectives. The objectives reward players with fresh weapons and armor, as well as coins.
As you progress through the game, on level 10, each player can choose one of the three factions. The choice made with the selected faction will stay fixed up to 120 days – only one faction change per adventurer is available each 4 months. The choice of faction: Marauders, Syndicate or Covenant greatly influences the story of the player, as each faction fights with different goals: one wants to establish peace and justice, the other seeks occult and artifact power in the mystical island, while the third seeks to establish their own empire by controlling the island’s resources, settlements and castles.
With the progression of the game, game professions become available to the player. These are grouped in 3 sub-groups known as Gathering professions, Refining Professions and Crafting professions. The gathering professions allow the players to collect resources from the game nodes available on the island, items like Wood, Stone, Iron, Oil and then use the Refining professions to improve the raw materials into fine-crafted items which are used as weapon and armor upgrades or sellable on the trading-posts in the game to other players for coins.
With that said, the game features 4 base-modes: War Mode, Invasion, Outpost Rush and Expeditions. Each mode has specific rules and objectives and it can take up to a couple of months until the main goal is accomplished.
The game has no subscription, once the initial package is purchased at Steam, players can play it for free even with the forthcoming updates.
