Genesis Noir, an adventure of Big Bang with a jazz soundtrack

Reviewers and commentators have been trying to figure our Genesis Noir, by Feral Cat Den, for days. The game was released on March 26th for Windows, MacOS, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Enthralling, stylish, metaphysical… try as you might, you will not find one satisfactory definition for it. High-quality games are like this, and if you try a Genting casino promo code you will find many more of them that will engage you for hours. Genesis Noir is one of a kind, though. Its aesthetics are the first courageous leap of faith, with simple black and white graphics and very minimalistic too.

The feeling is something like an interactive animated film-noir. In the format of a detective movie, what Genesis Noir attempts to achieve is to walk the player through a metaphor of the universe, between its creation and its potential destruction. The game does so over a plot describing a classical love triangle, or “a story of love, betrayal, and loss,” as presented in the trailer. When you enter it, you will do so as the protagonist No Man (who represents time), in his attempts to stop Golden Boy (representing energy) from killing Miss Mass (who is the mass of the universe).

No Man is a watchmaker who broke up with Miss Mass, a nightclub singer, and has fallen into a deep depression as a consequence. When he tries to call his love, he hears her crying for help and rushes to her place. He gets there right when the saxophone player from her band, Golden Boy, is about to shoot the singer. No Man found a spent bullet case with an unusual spiral symbol and discovers that he can pause time after touching it. The watchmaker sets out on a mission to stop Golden Boy’s bullet by creating a black hole. There are other spirals to be found around and other actions to be taken to create the universe. The shot was actually a metaphor for the original Big Bang.

No Man’s journey continues through the stages of life on Earth, searching to gain more clues and powers. More characters appear, like the Huntress, the Ronin, the Musician, and the Scientist. All of them have new revelations for No Man. Thus he will learn that Golden Boy owes his success to Miss Mass and her relationship with No Man pushed him into a frenzy of jealousy. When the protagonist manages to collect enough spirals, he will use their energy to create a black hole. There are unwanted consequences because the black hole will begin to devour reality. Salvation will come from a mysterious white figure, a fusion of the Huntress, Ronin, Musician, and Scientist. From this mystical messenger, No Man will learn that he does not really need to save anyone because time offers endless possibilities. He goes back to the starting point, gives up on his attempts to prevent Golden Boy from shooting Miss Mass, and the Big Bang can finally create the universe.

The above is just a general sketch. You need to dive into this surreal and stylish universe to experience all the power of this outlandish journey.
