Get ready, gamers! Veteran developer Grove Street Games—the team behind major technical projects like ARK: Survival Ascended and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition—has officially announced its first brand-new original IP in over ten years.
Titled BeastLink, this highly anticipated title is set to launch on Steam Early Access on Tuesday, August 18, at an accessible price point of $19.99.
A Fresh Direction for Grove Street Games
While Grove Street Games has spent the last decade working closely with existing smash-hit franchises, BeastLink marks a major milestone as a completely original concept built from the ground up.
To celebrate the announcement, the studio dropped an action-packed new trailer giving players a first look at the gameplay, core mechanics, and vibrant universe they can expect to jump into on day one of Early Access.
What to Expect
While Early Access means the game will continue to evolve based on player feedback, launching at $19.99 makes it easy for action fans and community members to get in on the ground floor, test new features, and help shape the future of the game.
Mark your calendars for August 18, head over to Steam, and add BeastLink to your wishlist today!

What is Vahrin’s Call?
Set in the dark, war-torn city-state of Vahrin, the game plunges you into a world on the brink of collapse. Creeping swarms, deadly beasts, and political intrigue threaten to tear the region apart. Key Features You Shouldn’t Miss:
Classless Character Progression: Say goodbye to restrictive character classes! Vahrin’s Call lets you build your character entirely to your tastes. Fast-Paced, Dynamic Combat: Experience fluid real-time combat packed with combos, parries, dodges, and elemental synergies. Upgrades constantly teach your character new tactical moves rather than just inflating stats.
100% Handcrafted Universe: Every corner of the Vale of Vahrin—from overgrown city streets to murky bogs and subterranean caverns—has been meticulously designed by hand with zero generative AI, ensuring authentic world-building and rich secrets to uncover.
Pure Fantasy Storytelling: Unravel a deep, linear narrative filled with fully voiced characters, dark lore, rewarding side quests, and environmental puzzles.
An Indie Feat Worth Supporting
In an industry increasingly dominated by massive budget bloat and cookie-cutter mechanics, Vahrin’s Call stands out as a true labour of love. Retro gaming enthusiasts and indie action fans, take note! Industry veteran Tony Barnes—the creative mind behind classic hits spanning four decades and recipient of the prestigious Jerry Lawson Lifetime Achievement Award—has officially released VectaGuard.
Marking the debut title from his independent studio RetroNinja Games, VectaGuard is Barnes’ first solo-developed title in more than thirty years. Now available on Steam (for Windows PC and Steam Deck), this fast-paced arcade shooter delivers a masterclass in high-octane, score-chasing nostalgia built with modern precision.
Back to the Roots of Pure Gameplay
Having contributed to over 100 shipped titles across major gaming giants like Electronic Arts, Rockstar Games, and Crystal Dynamics (with iconic credits including Desert Strike, Strider (2014), and Medal of Honor), Barnes stepped away from the blockbuster AAA grind to return to where it all began: pure, unadulterated arcade action.
Solo-crafted over nine months—with Barnes hand-building everything from the code and game design to the glowing visuals and pulse-pounding synthwave soundtrack—VectaGuard is a love letter to the golden era of arcade gaming.
“The games that inspired me as a kid were simple pure gameplay; easy to learn, hard to master, impossible to put down,” says Barnes. “Creating solo again has been incredibly rewarding, and VectaGuard is the product of that. It’s my tribute to the games that made me want to become a developer to begin with.”
What is VectaGuard?
Inspired by coin-op and retro classics like Defender, Gravitar, Uridium, and Caverns of Mars, VectaGuard puts players in the cockpit of a VectaGuard assault craft. Your mission? Navigate glowing subterranean caverns, rescue trapped colonists, and dismantle hostile space pirate outposts across the galaxy.
Key Features Include:
Stunning 2.5D Vector Visuals: A sleek, glowing wireframe aesthetic that blends classic vector cabinet vibes with modern particle effects and fluid performance.
Stackable Weapon Upgrades: Power up your assault craft with devastating lasers, tri-fire shots, and screen-clearing firepower.
Pure Score-Chasing & Replayability: Built for the “just one more run” mentality, featuring cross-platform global leaderboards to test your skills against players worldwide.
Dynamic Synthwave Soundtrack: An energetic, thumping OST designed to sync seamlessly with the fast-paced action.
Steam Deck Verified Playability: Full controller support tuned for handheld and desktop arcade action alike.
A New Chapter for RetroNinja Games
Founded in 2020, RetroNinja Games was created to give Barnes an unrestricted creative playground focusing on mechanics-first, visceral action experiences. With VectaGuard, RetroNinja isn’t chasing fleeting mainstream gaming trends—it’s giving retro and action gamers exactly what they crave: hand-crafted, tightly tuned gameplay with genuine soul.

If you’re a fan of the ever-expanding “bullet heaven” or horde-survivor genre, get ready to add a fresh spin to your Steam library. Athens-based indie studio SOTO Game Studio has officially launched their debut title, Luminas: Parasite Reign, into Steam Early Access—and it’s taking survivor roguelites to a whole new level!
While many horde shooters focus on a solitary hero battling waves of creatures, Luminas: Parasite Reign shakes up the traditional formula by introducing party-based tactical squad building. Rather than going at it alone, players command up to three heroes simultaneously to protect the vibrant world of Solaris Land from overwhelming parasitic forces.
Here is a closer look at what makes this debut indie release one you won’t want to miss.
Command a Squad of Magical Beings
In Luminas: Parasite Reign, you aren’t just boosting a single weapon trajectory—you’re directing an entire team. At the start of each run, you can pick three heroes (known as Luminas) to forge your ideal party composition:
8 Playable Luminas at Launch: From heavy-hitting tanks and glass-cannon DPS dealers to crucial healers and support casters, you are free to mix and match any combination that suits your playstyle.
Elemental Magic & Combos: Harness 64 unique elemental spells. Furthermore, specific Lumina pairs can synergise and combine their abilities to unleash screen-clearing combo attacks.
Deep Customisation and Meta-Progression
No two runs feel the same thanks to a heavy focus on RPG-style character development and meta-progression:
Dedicated Skill Trees: Every Lumina features three distinct skill paths, opening up diverse build paths and strategies.
90+ Treasures to Collect: Equip customizable artefacts and equipment throughout your journey to dramatically alter stats and add powerful bonus effects across your squad.
Mid-Run Evolutions: Watch your magical creatures evolve during combat, unlocking higher stats and extra abilities as the action ramps up.
Face the Parasites Across Diverse Biomes
Surviving the horde isn’t just about mowing down minion mobs. Early Access launches with:
3 Dynamic World Biomes featuring unique environmental hazards and enemy mechanics.
8 Epic Bosses and over 20 distinct parasitic enemy types dying to devour your team.
Adjustable “Corruption” Difficulty: Want a tougher challenge? Increase the run’s Corruption level to alter gameplay rules, expand enemy rosters, shift camera perspectives, and test your team synergy to its absolute limits.
On top of all that, for players who love gaming on the go, SOTO Game Studio has confirmed full optimisation for the Steam Deck, running at a smooth 90 FPS natively!
Shaped by the Community
Born from the passion of a small three-person indie development team, SOTO Game Studio plans to build out Luminas: Parasite Reign alongside player feedback. Early Access will continuously introduce new maps, bosses, playable Luminas, and game modes leading up to its full release.
Luminas: Parasite Reign is available now on Steam Early Access. Head over to the Steam Store today to grab your copy, assemble your ultimate squad, and stand against the parasite tide!
If you’re a fan of atmospheric, teeth-chattering survival games, it’s time to double-wrap your thermal gear and check your fuel meters. Developer SpaceRocket Games and publisher Toplitz Productions have officially lifted the veil on their upcoming post-apocalyptic survival sandbox, Permafrost, giving players a look into a world completely frozen solid.
Originally planned for a late-summer release, the developers recently pushed the launch date back slightly to give this icy nightmare the extra layer of polish it deserves. Now, mark your calendars: Permafrost officially hits Early Access on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store on October 9, 2026.
What is Permafrost?
Set in the near-future year of 2035, Permafrost imagines a world shattered by an apocalyptic event linked to the moon, which literally fragmented in the sky. The cataclysm plunged Earth into a severe, permanent sub-zero global winter, wiping out modern civilisation, collapsing governments, and leaving only scattered factions battling for scraps.
You play as a Rook—an engineer with the technical know-how to rebuild society, but precious little wilderness survival experience. Drawn into the vast, snowy open world by a faint radio signal from a long-lost friend, your job isn’t just to stay alive; it’s to piece together the remnants of humanity.
Key Features & Gameplay Mechanics
1. The Cold Is Your True Enemy
Forget standard hunger and thirst meters for a moment—in Permafrost, temperature is a lethal threat. Dynamic weather conditions can turn a calm hike into a life-threatening blizzard in seconds. Entering extreme cold zones without proper gear, shelter, or fires will cause frostbite, severely slow your movement, drain your stamina, and kill you in minutes.
2. A Grounded, Scarcity-Driven Open World
Unlike fast-paced, gun-toting survival shooters, Permafrost emphasises scarcity, silence, and resolve. You won’t find endless belts of ammo or high-tech sci-fi gadgets. Progression is earned through careful exploration—scavenging abandoned urban ruins, restoring dilapidated shelters, hotwiring broken machinery, and crafting primitive gear (like crossbows and thermal clothing).
3. Your Dog Companion
You don’t have to face the frozen apocalypse alone. Early in your journey, you can rescue a loyal dog companion from the snow-covered ruins. Your furry friend isn’t just for morale—they act as a scout, warn you of impending threats, help haul extra supplies through deep snow, and keep your character grounded in the crushing silence of the arctic waste.
4. Human Factions and Hostile Threats
Sub-zero temperatures aren’t the only danger stalking the frozen wilderness. As you explore, you’ll cross paths with rival factions, wild predators, and aggressive groups like the fanatical Moon Cult. You’ll need to navigate territory carefully, manage stealth, and conserve resources to handle hostile encounters.
5. Symbiotic 1–4 Player Co-Op
Whether you prefer a solitary struggle against nature or tactical teamwork, Permafrost supports solo play as well as online co-op with up to four players. Co-op doesn’t dial down the difficulty—it just allows you to share the load. Work together with your crew to establish interconnected shelter networks, divide scavenging and hunting duties, and pool resources to brave the harsher biomes.
Early Access Details: What to Expect on Day One
When Permafrost launches into Early Access on October 9, 2026, players will be getting a feature-rich experience straight out of the gate:
30+ Hours of Story Content: A substantial narrative campaign for completionists, featuring lore-rich quests and world exploration.
Diverse Biomes: Ranging from dense, snow-laden forests to sprawling frozen tundra and urban city ruins buried in ice.
Deep Crafting & Base Building: Build custom networks of shelters, restore lost technology, and craft survival essentials.
Planned Early Access Roadmap: SpaceRocket Games plans to keep the game in Early Access for roughly 12 months, using player feedback to add new biomes, NPCs, vehicles, expanded crafting trees, and extra canine features before the 1.0 release.
Ready to Face the White Hell?
If you’ve spent endless hours trekking through games like The Long Dark, Green Hell, or Valheim, Permafrost promises to deliver that same thrilling tension where every decision—and every spark of fire—matters.
Don’t forget to wishlist Permafrost today on Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store so you’re ready when the freeze sets in this October!
If you love incremental games and high-stakes heists, it is time to check back in with Thieves & Gold. Solo developer Razvan Moraru (RzvGames) has officially released the largest update yet for the game’s free Steam demo—and its first major patch since May.
Packed with revamped mechanics, fresh encounters, and a ground-up redesign of key areas, this update makes now the perfect time to dive in (or plan another heist).
Here is a breakdown of everything new in the updated Thieves & Gold demo!
1. The Town Rebuilt From the Ground Up
One of the most significant changes in this update is a complete rebuild of The Town. The overhauled hub gives players a fresher, more intuitive space to navigate between operations, manage their progression, and prepare for their next big score.
2. Character-Guided Opening Heist
Getting started in the world of crime is now much smoother. The game’s opening heist has been revamped so that the characters themselves guide you through the basics. Instead of figuring everything out through static menus or trial-and-error, you get an immersive, character-led onboarding experience that pulls you straight into the narrative.
3. Beware of the Mimic!
Thieves beware: gold isn’t the only thing waiting in the shadows. For the first time, players can encounter a Mimic! This new surprise element adds a fun twist to your loot runs—forcing you to stay on your toes when grabbing treasure.
Why You Should Try It Today
Thieves & Gold brings a unique spin to the incremental genre by blending strategy, loot management, and satisfying heist mechanics. With Razvan Moraru continually refining the experience based on player feedback, this massive demo update offers a generous peek into the game’s full potential.
Where to Play
The newly updated free demo for Thieves & Gold is available right now on Steam. Head over to the store page, download the demo, and see if you have what it takes to pull off the ultimate heist!
Strategy and simulation fans, mark your calendars! MicroProse and solo developer Chett Fitzgerald have officially announced that Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat will be launching on September 8, 2026, for PC via Steam Early Access.
If you’ve ever wanted to construct a sweeping global empire—controlling everything from raw ore extraction in remote regions to selling high-tech semiconductors across continents—this ambitious management sim is going to be right up your alley.
Here is everything you need to know about Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat before it drops later this year.
Construct a True Global Industrial Empire
Factory Default sets itself apart by bringing production-chain logistics to a living 3D model of Earth. Inspired by real-world geography and resource distribution, every country and region presents unique strategic opportunities, supply chain advantages, and market dynamics.
Instead of building inside isolated maps, your supply networks will span entire continents:
End-to-End Control: Direct every step of the supply chain—mine raw minerals, refine complex materials, manufacture advanced goods, and trade with global markets.
Deep Supply Chains: Connect hundreds of resources and items into multi-tiered production pipelines where every bottleneck, contract, and export price impacts your bottom line.
Global Trade & Expansion: Mine rare materials where they naturally occur, build refineries near strong infrastructure, and sell finished products where demand is highest.
Profit vs. Perception: Balancing Corporate Power
Building efficient factories is only half the battle. In Factory Default, your company’s actions are subject to a dynamic Global Perception system. The world continuously evaluates your empire based on:
Financial strength
Environmental impact
Worker welfare and corporate responsibility
Industrial influence
Will you invest in green energy, sustainable infrastructure, and safe working conditions to secure long-term stability and public trust? Or will you cut corners with aggressive industrial policies to squeeze out maximum profit margins at the expense of your global reputation?
As your influence grows, you can spend corporate power to enact company-wide policies, control local markets, and even participate in massive planetary end-game initiatives—such as helping construct entirely new landmasses through mega-engineering projects like the Ultima Mundi Project.
Mark Your Calendars for September 8
With legendary publisher MicroProse backing solo developer Chett Fitzgerald, Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat is shaping up to be a standout addition to the management strategy genre.
You can head over to Steam right now to add Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat to your wishlist ahead of its Early Access launch on September 8, 2026.
Military simulation giants MicroProse have officially launched Drone Sector into Early Access on Steam. Developed by Icosphere—the solo development studio of Ingmar Trump—this ambitious sci-fi action-strategy title blends close air support (CAS) firepower with real-time tactical decision-making.
If you have ever wanted to experience the sheer tactical tension of managing a high-tech battlefield from the sky, Drone Sector is ready for deployment.
A Fusion of AC-130 Power and Real-Time Strategy
Drone Sector puts players into the hot seat of an advanced aerial weapons platform operating high above hostile territory. Drawing heavy inspiration from real-world combat powerhouses like the AC-130 gunship and the MQ-9 Reaper drone, the game forces you to balance precision shooting with ground-level strategy.
Rather than acting solely as an airborne trigger-man, your primary mission is to protect and guide allied ground squads. Your boots-on-the-ground troops rely on your eye in the sky to scout ahead, identify high-priority threats, clear extraction zones, and call down devastating strikes. In return, your squad secures vital ground objectives, recruits engineers, and recovers valuable resources that keep your operation funded and flying.
What to Expect in Early Access
While the initial demo offered a taste of the core gunship shooting mechanics, the Steam Early Access release delivers the full operational framework around the combat loop:
Career Mode with Persistent Progression: Manage resources, repair damaged drones, research futuristic weaponry, and maintain ammo stockpiles across multi-mission campaigns where squad losses and resource spending carry real consequences.
10 Handcrafted Maps: Take flight across a variety of terrains, featuring one 1km x 1km map and nine expansive 3km x 3km battlegrounds with procedurally generated mission setups.
Multiple Optics & Loadouts: Switch seamlessly between colour, night vision, and thermal vision modes to spot enemies in any condition. Tailor your gunship and squad loadouts with customizable weapons and specialised ammo ratios.
Sandbox Mode: Want to test out destructive weapon combos without career pressure? Jump into customizable sandbox battles with configurable enemy counts, map setups, and optional toggles like infinite ammo.
The MicroProse Legacy Continues
MicroProse’s legendary pedigree in tactical sims (from Gunship and Falcon to X-COM) makes them the natural home for Drone Sector. By launching into Early Access, the developers plan to work directly with the community to refine AI behaviours, balance mission dynamics, and introduce new squad and weapon types throughout development.
Drone Sector is out now on Steam Early Access. Head over to the Steam Store page today, take control of the sky, and lead your forces to victory!

Rebels, grab your gear. Wombo Games has just dropped the first massive content expansion for Raiders of Blackveil since it smashed its way onto Steam Early Access.
The headline act? “The Ghoulag” update is officially live as of May 19, bringing a dark, high-surveillance new biome, deep meta-progression updates, and a feature that solo players have been begging for since day one.
Here is everything you need to know about the latest update to this dystopian industrial-fantasy roguelite.
Welcome to The Ghoulag: You Are Being Watched
If you thought Blackveil’s standard factories were tough, the new biome is a completely different beast. The Ghoulag is a Blackveil interrogation site built directly on top of ancient, haunted ruins. It introduces 12 brand-new levels steeped in a tense, eerie atmosphere.
But it’s not just a visual overhaul; this biome completely shifts how you play due to a relentless new mechanic: constant surveillance.
The Core Threat: The biome’s final boss is Wanda, a terrifying, owl-like warden who actively watches your run from afar. Move poorly or draw too much attention to yourself, and you’ll trigger her wrath long before you even make it to the boss room.
Alongside Wanda, you will have to deal with a brand-new mini-boss—the Houndmaster—and a host of creepy new enemy types, including Ratheads, Ratghosts, Occultist Doctors, and Cursed Books.
Wombo Games isn’t just expanding the map; they’re heavily overhauling the core gameplay loop. If your favourite MOBA-inspired champions were starting to feel familiar, this update injects a massive dose of variety into your drafts.
1. The Perk+ System
Ready to create a truly broken build? The new Perk+ system allows you to dive significantly deeper into specific perk classes. By specialising and stacking these effects, you can craft some seriously absurd synergies to melt through high-tier rooms.
2. Champion Perks
The update introduces dedicated Champion Perks that allow you to alter and greatly enhance the baseline abilities of your chosen rebel. This opens up entirely new combat strategies and lets you experiment with completely fresh build combinations.
New Loot and… OFFLINE MODE!
What good is a new biome if there isn’t shiny new loot to smuggle out? The Ghoulag introduces new biome-specific equipment packed with unique perk effects to help you turn the tide against the megacorporation.
But perhaps the most welcome surprise in this patch is the addition of a full Offline Mode. Raiders of Blackveil has traditionally required an internet connection, but solo rebels can now run raids completely offline—making it the perfect update for Steam Deck players who want to grind for loot on the go.
The Road to 1.0
Led by Janos Flösser (co-founder of IO Interactive), the Copenhagen-based team at Wombo Games is pulling out all the stops for their debut title. The Ghoulag is just the first of four major content drops scheduled for this year, with more champions, biomes, and system overhauls lined up for Summer, Autumn, and Winter ahead of the game’s full 1.0 launch planned for late 2026.
The Ghoulag update is available right now as a free update for all Raiders of Blackveil owners on Steam.
Are you ready to face the Warden? Let us know what builds you’re taking into The Ghoulag in the comments below!
