The frozen wastes just got a lot more crowded. Arc Games and Snapshot Games officially launched the Legacy of the Algox update yesterday, January 22, 2026, marking the second major content drop for the digital adaptation’s Early Access period.

This massive update shifts the narrative focus toward the yeti-like Algox tribes. Following the resolution of the “Unfettered” threat in previous patches, players must now navigate a web of political intrigue and a simmering civil war between rival clans. But as seasoned mercenaries know, the political tension is merely a backdrop for a more sinister “ancient malevolence” stirring beneath the ice.

New Heroes Join the Fray

The headline feature for many fans is the arrival of three advanced playable classes, bringing the digital roster up to 14 of the board game’s original 17 heroes:

• Astral: An elementalist capable of chaining “infusions” to create devastating combo effects and manifest crystalline weaponry.
• Drill: A heavy-duty tank fashioned from Unfettered parts. This class utilises a unique “pressure” mechanic that grants varying bonuses based on the machine’s current state.
• Shackles: A high-risk, high-reward class focused on condition manipulation, allowing players to redirect damage and debuffs from allies directly onto enemies.

A Wealth of Content

Beyond the new faces, the update significantly pads out the world map and the management layer of the game:

• 25+ New Quests: A mix of main storyline missions and side objectives.
• 5 New Bosses: Ancient foes designed to test advanced tactical synergies.
• Town Growth: 9 new building upgrades and the introduction of Town Hall Challenges to further bolster party capabilities.
• Expanded Arsenal: 31 new craftable and discoverable items, along with the game’s 11th collectable pet.

Quality of Life & The Road to 1.0

Snapshot Games has also introduced the Puzzle Book feature, a digital adaptation of the board game’s progression system that now acts as a guide for mission completion. UI overhauls have also been implemented to reduce screen clutter, including a more compact mission objective panel.

With this update, the game moves one step closer to its full 1.0 release. According to the developer roadmap, a third major update is slated for April 2026, with the final chapter and full release expected in late summer.
