The survival genre is about to get a whole lot colder. Developer SpaceRocket Games and publisher Toplitz Productions have just premiered a brand-new gameplay trailer for their upcoming survival sandbox, Permafrost, during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2026.

If you thought a British winter was harsh, this game is here to provide some perspective. Set in the aftermath of a cataclysmic lunar event known as “The Shattering,” Permafrost thrusts players into a world where the moon is broken, the sun is a memory, and the entire planet has been plunged into a perpetual, sub-zero apocalypse.

Survive the “White Hell”

The latest footage offers a deep dive into the brutal beauty of this frozen wasteland. In Permafrost, the environment isn’t just a backdrop—it’s your primary antagonist. Players must manage more than just a hunger bar; you’ll be battling hypothermia, exhaustion, and the psychological toll of a world that never thaws.

The Shattered World: Explore a vast open world filled with abandoned cities, frozen forests, and secret-laden caves.

Toplitz Productions confirmed that Permafrost is eyeing a PC Early Access launch later in 2026 (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store), with a console version for PS5 also in the works.
