  • From Peasants to Powerhouses: The Guild – Europa 1410 Reveals Its Brutal Medieval Production Chains

From Peasants to Powerhouses: The Guild – Europa 1410 Reveals Its Brutal Medieval Production Chains

Gold doesn’t just magically fall into a merchant’s coin purse in the Middle Ages—it is forged, smuggled, brewed, and bartered into existence.

With The Guild – Europa 1410 fast approaching its Steam Early Access launch on July 16, 2026, developer Ashborne Games and publisher THQ Nordic have dropped a brand-new developer diary. This latest deep dive invites players straight into the grit and grind of the game’s workshops, mining pits, and marketplaces, showcasing a ruthless, interconnected medieval economy where a single bad trade can lead to absolute ruin, and a clever craft can buy you political salvation.

If you’ve been looking for a strategy game where macroeconomics meets micro-management and backalley backstabbing, you’ll want to pay close attention to this one.

Crafting Your Way Up the Social Ladder

In The Guild – Europa 1410, your profession dictates your daily grind, but your ambition dictates your legacy. The developer diary highlights how raw materials are transformed through intricate multi-step production chains.

Take the Smith profession, for example:

    1. Gather Raw Materials: Procure Iron and Silver Ingots from local mines or the volatile public marketplace.
    2. Craft Intermediate Goods: Forge the iron into sturdy fittings (essential building blocks for advanced items).
    3. The End Product: Combine those fittings with silver to craft a glistening, high-value Silver Chain.

But here is where The Guild separates itself from standard city builders: items aren’t just for selling. While that Silver Chain can fetch a hefty sum at the market, you can choose to wear it yourself. Doing so gives you a tangible reputation boost with the Town Council or Church Authorities, proving that in Europa 1410, economic power translates directly into political influence.

High Risks, Shadow Markets, and Volatile Economies

It’s not all honest blacksmithing and peaceful baking, though. Different professions, like Alchemists, can craft seemingly innocent intermediate products that double as components for far more dangerous, less-than-legal end products. If you want to play a darker role in the Holy Roman Empire, the shadows are waiting.

However, Ashborne Games warns that the line between a passive income stream and a devastating financial gamble is razor-thin:

Market Oversupply: If you get greedy and flood the marketplace with too much of a single product, the simulation’s supply-and-demand mechanics will kick in, driving prices into the dirt and ruining your own profit margins.

Vulnerable Supply Lines: Got a massive shipment of luxury goods heading to a neighboring quarter? You better make sure your transport carts are heavily guarded. Rogue players or AI bandits can ambush your caravans, wiping out your family’s investments in a single stroke.

Whether you choose a life of virtue or one of crime, every link in the supply chain requires careful calculation.

    Secure Your Dynasty This July

From establishing beehives for steady passive income to managing patrons at an Inn, The Guild – Europa 1410 promises a complex, living medieval world. If you want a taste of the mechanics before the official launch, a 14-turn playable demo featuring the city of Kuttenberg is currently live on Steam.

Make sure to head over to Steam to wishlist the game ahead of its July 16, 2026, Early Access release. Will you build an empire that lasts for generations, or will the market swallow your dynasty whole?

What profession are you planning to master first? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Don’t Make a Sound: Fearwoods Drops Terrifying New Trailer and Full Development Roadmap

Don’t Make a Sound: Fearwoods Drops Terrifying New Trailer and Full Development Roadmap

Indie horror fans, it is time to rally your gaming squad and double-check your flashlights. The solo developer behind the highly anticipated indie title Fearwoods has just dropped a massive presentation update, giving us a chilling new trailer, refreshed screenshots, and a crystal-clear look at the game’s future development roadmap heading toward its Q3 2026 launch window.

If you thrive on the high-tension, panic-inducing energy of games like Phasmophobia or Lethal Company, you’ll definitely want to put this one on your radar.

Check out everything we know about the updated Steam page and the terrors lurking in the trees below.

    What is Fearwoods?

Fearwoods is a 3-player online co-op survival horror experience that throws players into the heart of a deeply cursed forest. Your ultimate goals? Work together, search for scattered GPS pieces, piece together the tragic mystery of a girl named Aveline, and find a way to escape.

The catch? You are being actively hunted by a relentless, supernatural demon.

In Fearwoods, light and silence are your only real weapons. Turning on your flashlight might help you find a crucial clue, but it also transforms you into a giant neon sign for the entity stalking you. Teamwork and tight communication are absolute musts if you want to survive the night.

A Fresh Look at the Nightmare: New Trailer & Screenshots

The newly updated Steam page features a revamped trailer and polished screenshots that show off significant visual improvements. The developer has dialled up the environmental lighting and atmospheric density, capturing the suffocating dread of a fog-laden forest.

The trailer highlights just how vital audio and visual cues will be. From the terrifying crunch of leaves behind you to the sudden, chaotic flicker of a teammate’s flashlight in the distance, the gameplay looks spectacularly tense.

The Development Roadmap: From Demo to Full Release

Alongside the visual makeover, the developer shared an official infographic detailing exactly how Fearwoods will evolve across its development cycle. Here is a breakdown of what to expect from each phase:

    PhaseMaps & ExplorationEnemy AI (Aveline / Demon)Narrative & Mechanics
    Current Demo• 1 Partial Map
    • Small exploration area
    • Basic behavior• Fragmented narrative content
    • Playable online co-op
Early Access (Coming Q3 2026)• 1 Full Map
    • Larger exploration areas
    • Improved behavior
    • Hallway appearances
    • Dynamic horror events
    • Story fragment system (Lose fragments on death)
    Full Game• 3 Chapters across 3 Maps
    • Ultimate exploration spaces
    • Advanced behavior
    • Ceiling crawling
    • Reality distortions
    • Complete narrative
    • Scripted chase events
    • Higher difficulty story fragments

The risk-versus-reward mechanic in the upcoming Early Access build sounds especially brutal—losing your hard-earned narrative fragments upon dying means every risky trek into the dark carries severe consequences. By the time the Full Game rolls around, the demon will be capable of ceiling-crawling and causing full-blown reality distortions.

    How to Play Right Now

If you don’t want to wait until the Early Access launch later this quarter, you don’t have to. A playable co-op demo is available right now on Steam, allowing you and two friends to test your survival instincts in a smaller slice of the cursed woods.

Head over to the Fearwoods Steam Page to check out the brand-new trailer, browse the fresh screenshots, and add the game to your wishlist.

TechMash Verdict: With its heavy reliance on sensory mechanics and high-stakes co-op play, Fearwoods is shaping up to be one of the most stressful—and exciting—indie horror games of the year. Keep those flashlights off, people.

Watch Your Back: Critically Acclaimed Survival Horror MAZEBOUND Drops Massive Hardcore Update on Steam

Indie developer and publisher Absam Studios has announced a major update to MAZEBOUND, its critically acclaimed survival horror hit on Steam. If you thought navigating the game’s relentless, procedurally generated labyrinth was stressful before, things are about to get a whole lot more brutal.

For the uninitiated, MAZEBOUND delivers a frantic and unforgiving gameplay experience. Stranded with nothing but a towering wall ahead and the sea at your back, you are trapped in a nightmare maze with no option but to hunt, gather, and run to survive—either entirely alone or with friends in online co-op.

But as the developers prominently warn: You’re not the only one watching, and you’re not the only one starving.

    Enter the Maze—If You Dare

The headline addition to this major update is the highly anticipated Hardcore Mode, a punishing new way to play specifically designed for veteran players seeking the ultimate adrenaline rush. In this mode, every choice carries massive weight, and a single mistake will cost you everything.

Here is a breakdown of what awaits you in the updated maze:

    • Permadeath Is Live: If you die, your run is over. Period.
    • Hardcore Leaderboards: See how your survival times stack up against the most fearless runners globally.
    • New Nighttime Dangers: The maze becomes significantly more hostile after dark, and all safety doors now slam shut at night in Hardcore Mode.
    • Scarcer Resources: Hunger depletes at a much faster rate, and there are fewer Waystones to rely on.
    • New Monsters: Terrifying new twisted entities have been added to the maze, and the spawning behaviour of existing creatures has been heavily adjusted.
    • Exclusive Rewards: Players who manage to beat the brutal Hardcore Mode will unlock a brand-new axe and a fresh Steam achievement.

Race for the $1,000 Solo Cash Prize

To celebrate the launch of Hardcore Mode, Absam Studios is hosting an official Hardcore Solo Competition with a $1,000 USD prize pool.

The top 20 players who secure a spot on the Hardcore solo leaderboard by July 30th at 10 AM PDT will win Steam Gift Cards, with the ultimate survivor taking home the first-place grand prize of $250. Note that for transparency, any winning runs clocked under two hours will require video proof to claim the reward.

Whether you’re looking to test your grit against the new permadeath mechanics or want a piece of that prize pool, there’s never been a better time to jump back in. MAZEBOUND is available right now on PC via Steam.

  • The Great Clash Awaits: NEXON Unveils Season 4, Massive 2026 Roadmap, and 2nd Anniversary Rewards for The First Descendant

The Great Clash Awaits: NEXON Unveils Season 4, Massive 2026 Roadmap, and 2nd Anniversary Rewards for The First Descendant

Looter-shooter fans, it’s time to gear up. To celebrate the second anniversary of The First Descendant, NEXON and the development team hosted Descendant Fest 2026. The packed livestream dropped a massive payload of content announcements, including the Season 4 World Premiere Trailer, a highly ambitious H2 2026 Roadmap, a transparent Creator Roundtable, and an anniversary infographic showcasing the game’s staggering growth over the past two years.

If you missed the stream, don’t worry—we’ve broken down all the major highlights that will define the game for the rest of 2026.

Season 4 Premiere: “The Great Clash”

NEXON kicked things off with the world premiere trailer for Season 4, titled The Great Clash. Arriving on August 20, 2026, the narrative brings the ongoing war with the Vulgus to a cinematic head. A colossal Vulgus warship has appeared directly over Albion, leading to an all-out assault and the long-awaited showdown between the Descendants and the primary villain, Karel.

The H2 2026 Roadmap: Dungeons, Weapons, and PvEvP

The developers laid out a comprehensive release schedule for the second half of 2026, targeting endgame depth, character progression, and entirely new ways to play:

    • July 15 Update: Intercept Battles are getting a major overhaul. Hard Difficulty and Void Abyss modes will merge into a single tiered system, topped off with a new pinnacle challenge: Void Intercept Battle: Extreme.
    • August 20 (Season 4 launch): The introduction of Mega Dungeons, massive interactive instances featuring multiple bosses and the cinematic climax against Karel. An ultra-hard, time-limited Conquest Mode and ranking leaderboard will launch two weeks later. August also introduces Trial Mode (an escalating power-fantasy survival run) and the Transcendent Weapon System, launching with 11 core-building weapons designed for long-term farming.
    • September 17 Update: The fan-favourite sniper Ultimate Hailey joins the roster alongside two unique Ultimate Skill Modules. Players will also get to explore the Cradle of Evolution, a dungeon built on highly randomised elements to keep repeated farming runs fresh.
    • November Update: Introduces the Henosis Sanctuary dungeon and a brand-new Descendant named Monet.
    • December Update: The game’s very first asymmetric 3v3 PvEvP mode, Colosseum-A. Two factions will compete to eliminate Vulgus forces while actively sabotaging each other, complete with the ability to temporarily transform into a giant Colossus to crush the opposition. Ultimate Jayber will also round out the year.

    Meet the New Descendant: Raven

Stealing the spotlight for the August update is Raven, the charismatic former boss of an Albion back-alley guild. Her combat style is built around high-mobility action, utilising instantaneous repositioning, devastating close-range shotgun blasts, and the unique ability to summon a Raven Form to fight by her side. Lore enthusiasts take note: she is heavily tied to Viessa’s backstory.

Creator Roundtable & 2nd Anniversary Infographic

NEXON utilised the event to emphasise community transparency. The Creator Roundtable brought developers, directors, and community managers face-to-face with content creators to directly address player feedback regarding weapon balancing, grind progression, and upcoming quality-of-life adjustments.

To mark two years live, the team released a 2nd Anniversary Infographic documenting the community’s collective milestones—tracking total hours played, total missions completed, the most-used weapons, and the most popular Descendants. Players can also log on to the official site to check out their own personalised yearly stats.

Anniversary Events & Loot Are Live Now

The second-anniversary celebration is officially underway in-game and runs for approximately two weeks. Players can access the 2nd Anniversary Token Shop to cash in gameplay rewards for brand-new customisation items, returning 1st-anniversary cosmetics, and the highly anticipated debut of the Transcendent Alignment Device.

Additionally, final voting for the player Skin Design Contest runs from July 6 through July 20, and physical merch collectors can now pre-order newly announced figures, including a Nendoroid Bunny and Figma Valby, through August 31.

With a definitive end to the Karel story arc, a weapon progression overhaul, and a bold jump into asymmetric PvEvP, the latter half of 2026 looks to be the most transformative era for The First Descendant yet.

  • Under the Hood: Rally Car Mechanic Simulator Shifts Gear for a Major Console Release

Under the Hood: Rally Car Mechanic Simulator Shifts Gear for a Major Console Release

The simulation genre is about to get a lot faster, muddier, and significantly more tactical. Polish development duos Play2Chill S.A. and Atomic Jelly have officially teamed up to bring the intense, high-stakes world of motorsport engineering to life with Rally Car Mechanic Simulator.

While PC players have already been getting their hands dirty on Steam under its initial launch, the big news hitting the paddock is the game’s massive leap to modern systems. Ultimate Games S.A. has taken the wheel to handle the preparation, optimisation, and official release for the console versions, expanding the garage to a whole new audience of living-room grease monkeys.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes when a driver obliterates their suspension on a brutal Scandinavian stage, this is your chance to find out.

The Reality of the Service Park: Gameplay Breakdown

Rally Car Mechanic Simulator isn’t just your standard oil-change sim. It drops you directly into the high-pressure role of a dedicated rally crew chief. You aren’t just working in a pristine, quiet workshop; you are managing time, budgets, and the chaotic aftermath of reckless driving.

    • Authentic Rally Tech: Forget standard sedans. You’ll be tearing down and rebuilding purpose-built racing machines. We are talking high-performance turbos, competition-grade transmissions, complex electronics, and heavy-duty coilover suspensions designed to survive massive jumps.
    • The Special Stage Crunch: The game splits your time between the comfort of your main garage and the frantic, timed repair segments during actual rallies. When the car limps into the service park between stages with unrepairable parts and the clock ticking down, your decision-making will dictate whether your team reaches the podium or DNFs.
    • Deep Team Management: Beyond turning wrenches, you are responsible for forging a championship-winning legacy. Players will need to manage garage funds, expand their workshops with advanced tools (like dynos and custom paint booths), negotiate lucrative sponsor deals, and assemble a top-tier crew.

From PC Success to Console Optimisation

Having already secured a solid reputation among PC simulation purists for its realistic damage modelling, detailed cleaning mechanics, and deep personalisation options, the transition to consoles marks a major milestone.

Thanks to the publishing and porting expertise of Ultimate Games S.A., console players can expect a finely tuned experience optimised for modern hardware. The console versions bring the game’s highly detailed graphics, intricate engine components, and satisfying physics loops to the big screen without losing the mechanical depth the genre demands.

Whether you’re meticulously adjusting stick sensitivity for precision part removal or utilising advanced controller remapping, the jump to consoles ensures that the tactical tension of the service park translates perfectly to a controller.

Rally Car Mechanic Simulator proves that championships aren’t just won on the dirt tracks—they are built, piece by piece, in the garage. Get your toolboxes ready.

  • Cats, Mechs, and Mayhem: Tech Titans Join Forces for ‘Cats in the Shell’

Cats, Mechs, and Mayhem: Tech Titans Join Forces for ‘Cats in the Shell’

When veterans from China’s biggest rival gaming giants—Tencent and NetEase—leave their corporate strongholds to team up, the industry takes notice. But no one quite predicted what their newly minted collective, Raven Studio, would build as their debut project.

Alongside global publisher Infini Fun, Raven Studio has officially pulled back the curtain on Cats in the Shell, a frantic, highly strategic mech-building roguelike auto battler coming to PC via Steam Early Access in Q4 2026.

If you’ve ever wanted to pilot a towering, steel-clad instrument of absolute destruction as a whiskered feline, your highly specific dream is finally coming true.

    The Birth of Raven Studio

Raven Studio isn’t just another indie outfit. Founded by a powerhouse collective of industry veterans pulling experience from Tencent, NetEase, and SNK, the studio was built with a specific mandate: break away from predictable, formulaic corporate production and prioritize pure, experimental gameplay.

By partnering with Infini Fun, a global multi-platform publisher established in 2024, the developers have been given the runway to bring one of their wildest ideas to life.

“Cats in the Shell’s detail-oriented, satisfying mech building and roguelike randomness will keep you on your toes. More than 1,000 modules provide near-infinite choices in exhilarating combat instances.” — Alex Dong, Director of Raven Studio

    Tactical Customisation Meets Feline Fury

At its core, Cats in the Shell is all about build-crafting. The loop is a satisfying blend of deep mechanical tinkering and roguelike unpredictability.

    1. Six Mech Archetypes & Whiskered Helmsmen

Players can choose from six distinct mech types, each serving as a blank metal canvas. However, a giant war machine is only as good as its pilot. You’ll recruit a variety of feline fighters, each sporting exclusive active abilities and unique strategic focuses that heavily alter how your machine behaves on the battlefield.

    2. Over 1,000 Component Modules

As you progress through runs and navigate random in-game events, you will collect weapons, armor, and specialized component parts. With over 1,000 modules available, the sheer depth of theory-crafting is massive.

    3. Inventory Management & Synergy Slots

You can allocate modules into five core slots. However, inventory space is strictly limited. The strategy lies in managing your tight inventory, arranging parts in a precise order, and unlocking hidden synergies that trigger explosive chain reactions.

    Automated Chaos and Global PvP

Once your feline pilot is buckled in and your mech is armed to the teeth, it’s time to step onto the battlefield. Cats in the Shell splits its action across two main fronts:

    • The Story Campaign: Battle through four distinct futuristic biomes, adapting your loadout to handle environmental hazards and squaring off against towering, screen-filling bosses.
    • Asynchronous PvP: Want to test your build against the world? Take your machine into an asynchronous PvP gauntlet. You will fight AI-controlled versions of mechs meticulously assembled by actual players worldwide. The ultimate goal? Survived the gauntlet to secure 10 cumulative victories.

Because it’s an auto battler, your job is done once the countdown hits zero. You get to sit back and watch your engineering masterclass—or catastrophic design flaws—play out in real-time automated clashes of steel, lasers, and flying fur.

    Launch Details & Public Playtest

Cats in the Shell is slated to hit Steam Early Access in Q4 2026. Raven Studio is already aiming for a massive global audience right out of the gate, promising localization support for 11 languages, including English, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

Can’t wait until Q4? You don’t have to. To celebrate the announcement, Raven Studio and Infini Fun have launched a seven-day public playtest right now on Steam. Head over to their store page, request access, and start building your ultimate mechanical kitty today.

  • Overclock Your Instincts: Why Techno: 2Kill is the Next Essential Hardcore Roguelike

Overclock Your Instincts: Why Techno: 2Kill is the Next Essential Hardcore Roguelike

If you live for the rush of adrenaline-fueled bullet hells, tight movement mechanics, and high-stakes decision-making, it’s time to clear your schedule. The indie team at ReBels’ Project has officially dropped Techno: 2Kill onto the scene—and it’s a beautifully brutal love letter to fans of pure, unadulterated speed and challenge.

Set in a dystopian future where a rogue, next-generation AI has decided to “save” humanity by forcibly converting every living thing into soulless synthetic copies, you are mankind’s glitch in the system. Cybernetically enhanced but still retaining your mind and sanity, your body is turned into the ultimate superweapon. Your mission? Blast your way through Earth, purge the ruins of the Moon, and take the fight directly to the AI’s core.

Here is a breakdown of why this lightning-fast roguelike shooter deserves a spot at the top of your playlist.

    1. Speed Is Life, Standing Still Is Death

Techno: 2Kill is fundamentally built around momentum. This isn’t a cover shooter where you can peek from corners; it’s an aggressive ballet of destruction. The game arms you with fluid movement mechanics like wall-running, grapple-hooking onto enemies, dodging bullet swarms, and warping through tactical portals.

To survive the relentless synthetic onslaught, you have to lean directly into the chaos. The game features a brutal health-regen mechanic: the only way to stay alive is to execute cinematic finishers, tearing your robotic foes into metallic pulp and severing heads to replenish your life bar.

    2. A Massive, Unpredictable Combat Arsenal

Whether your playstyle leans toward long-range precision or up-close-and-personal carnage, the combat depth here is immense. The ReBels’ Project has packed the game with an eclectic and deeply developed arsenal, including:

    • Standard-issue heavy-hitters like machine guns, shotguns, and sniper rifles.
    • Sci-fi powerhouses like electric cannons and devastating bazookas.
    • Brutal melee options for close encounters, ranging from heavy axes to swift rapiers.

    3. Infinite Replayability and Personalised Playstyles

True to its roguelike nature, no two runs in Techno: 2Kill play out the same way. The progression and upgrade systems offer immense flexibility:

    • Rotating Augments: Every shop encounter shakes up your strategy with completely randomised augment selections.
    • Weapon Skill Trees: Each weapon features its own distinct set of skills to unlock and master.
    • Wild Synergies: The game encourages players to experiment, allowing you to forge unexpectedly broken, overpowered builds that suit your personal playstyle perfectly.

Beyond the main path, the game keeps things fresh with a quirky contract system. You’ll find yourself taking on odd jobs for remaining human survivors—extracting cargo from toxic wastelands, infiltrating space stations built inside the fossilised ribs of cosmic beasts, and even competing in a futuristic cyber-knight tournament (yes, complete with dragon slaying).

The Verdict: Are You Ready for the Challenge?

With over 80 distinct levels, terrifyingly complex boss battles that demand pixel-perfect execution, and a soundtrack built to keep your heart racing, Techno: 2Kill delivers exactly what hardcore shooter fans crave. It’s tough, it’s fair, and above all, it’s incredibly fast.

Techno: 2Kill is available now on PC. Lock, load, and go teach that rogue AI a lesson.

Commanders, grab your sunscreen and get ready to deploy. The temperature is rising, and so is the action!

Level Infinite and SHIFT UP have officially launched “Wave To You,” the highly anticipated summer update for the award-winning sci-fi RPG shooter GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE. The tide has officially rolled in, and the update is available to play right now across both PC and mobile platforms.

Blending NIKKE’s signature heartfelt storytelling with seaside adventures, this massive seasonal update drops players onto a mysterious tropical getaway packed with exclusive characters, sizzling swimsuit cosmetics, a cosy arcade mini-game, and a colossal new boss encounter.

Here is everything crashing ashore in the “Wave To You” update:

The Story: Secrets of South Burst Island

The summer event kicks off when the Commander receives a mysterious package containing an old photograph and a ticket to South Burst Island. Accompanied by Cinderella, what starts as a relaxing beach vacation quickly takes an unexpected turn.

At the same time, Marciana is leading her students (Tia and Naga) on a “graduation trip.” When a sudden, violent whirlpool traps both groups together in an isolated sector of the sea, they must work together to explore the tropical paradise—only to discover that this is no ordinary island, and dark secrets are lurking just beneath the waves.

New Character Variants & Unique Mechanics

The update introduces stunning new limited SSR summer variants that bring both fashion and incredible utility to your squad:

Cinderella: Crystal Wave (Available July 2 – July 23)

Cinderella makes her highly anticipated debut in a gorgeous swimsuit crafted for her by Grave. This unit introduces a unique, interactive gameplay mechanic: players can tap her standing pose to trigger a hidden black swimsuit variant!

Marciana: Marine Study (Available July 9 – July 30)

Ever-vigilant and highly suspicious that this “vacation” is actually a hidden test, Marciana heads to the beach. Embarrassed by the revealing swimsuit her students picked out for her, she sports a cosy penguin outfit over it to balance beach fashion with her signature discipline.

    Sizzling Exclusive Summer Costumes

It wouldn’t be a NIKKE summer update without a fresh lineup of seasonal cosmetics. This year’s collection features a beautiful blend of romance and style:

    • Gacha Costume – Little Mermaid: Shell Princess: The 2nd Generation Grimms model (frequently called “Siren”) brings a bittersweet first-love romance to the island. She wields Spindrift, a liquid polymetal alloy that forms bubbles dynamically, creating a protective “shell” around her beautiful swimsuit design.
    • Summer Pass Costumes: * Tia: Sea Lizzie: The sugary-dessert-loving graduate student gets a sunny, vibrant new look perfect for eating sweet treats on the beach.
      • Naga: Ring Ensemble: The unflappable big sister figure of the Dazzling Pearl squad gets an elegant ensemble that matches the summer heat.

New Content: Island Breaker Mini-Game & The Island Lurker Boss

    Island Breaker Mini-Game

  • From Canvas to Cannon Fire: How Tactical Boar Reworked the Montenotte Map for Veterans: Napoleonic Wars

From Canvas to Cannon Fire: How Tactical Boar Reworked the Montenotte Map for Veterans: Napoleonic Wars

If you are a fan of historical strategy, you’ve likely been keeping a close eye on Veterans: Napoleonic Wars. Developed by indie studio Tactical Boar, this highly anticipated single-player real-time tactics game tosses out base-building and economy management to focus entirely on what matters: formations, troop morale, and the deafening roar of black powder artillery.

In their latest developer update (Dev Blog #5), the team pulled back the curtain to give players a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how they construct their historical battlefields. Specifically, they detailed the massive design overhaul of Montenotte—one of the very first maps players will encounter in the game.

Here is how Tactical Boar is reshaping the map to ensure your first taste of 19th-century command feels completely authentic, punishing, and tactically brilliant.

The Problem with the First Draft

Montenotte was originally built very early in the game’s development loop, before many core gameplay mechanics (like the fortification system) were even fully integrated.

After initial playtesting, the feedback from the community was loud and clear: the map felt too cramped. Players found themselves squeezed tight between steep mountain passes with virtually zero room to manoeuvre or pull off authentic flanking tactics. Worse yet, Austrian reinforcements in the second phase were spawning far too close to the action, allowing aggressive players to simply rush cavalry and end the battle before the tactical chess match could even begin.

Tactical Boar took that feedback to heart and went back to the digital drawing board.

What’s Changing: Space, Strategy, and Sabres

The reworked Montenotte map isn’t just a visual upgrade—it completely alters how the battle plays out. The level designers focused on three major pillars for the redesign:

    1. Room to Breathe (and Flank)

The team has significantly expanded the boundaries of the battlefield. By widening the distances between major points of interest, commanders finally have the breathing room required to plan complex manoeuvres, deploy lines, columns, or squares, and actually commit to a long-term strategy rather than engaging in an immediate meat-grinder.

    2. Reinforcements as a Calculated Risk

To fix the “cavalry rush” meta, reinforcement positions have been pulled back drastically. Now, bringing fresh battalions into the fray is a conscious tactical choice that requires careful timing and positioning, rather than a frantic, automated scramble.

    3. A Redoubt Worth Fighting For

In earlier builds, the battlefield’s redoubt felt like little more than background decoration. Following the update, it has been transformed into a vital historical objective. If you want to secure the map, you’ll have to fight hard to capture, fortify, and hold this defensive position.

    Sharp, Honest Combat Mechanics

This map overhaul coincides with a few massive structural upgrades to how Veterans: Napoleonic Wars handles engagement. The developers are moving away from arcade-like “snapping” mechanics. Units will no longer act like magnets pulling face-to-face from their centre points; instead, they lock onto frontal contact zones exactly where they overlap.

Combined with a revamped “Fallback” command—which requires genuine tactical withdrawal rather than acting as a quick-dodge exploit—the battle for Montenotte promises to be a gripping, honest simulation of historical warfare.

As a crucial early-game mission, Montenotte is designed to set the tone for the entire campaign. Thanks to Tactical Boar’s commitment to community feedback, it looks like that first impression is going to be incredibly strong.

Veterans: Napoleonic Wars is currently in development for PC via Steam. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming demos and playtests!

The final trailer offers a stunning look at the gameplay highlights and the immaculate care poured into the title. It features atmospheric Japanese voice narration with English subtitles, perfectly setting the mood for a dark, choice-driven fantasy.

    A 100% Handmade Passion Project

What makes Veritas Tales truly special is the incredible human story behind its development. The game is the brainchild of Yoshio Nishimura, a 30-year industry veteran who served as Chief of Background Art for the original Monster Hunter at Capcom before working on gorgeous Vanillaware classics like Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.

Nishimura left the bustling studio life behind, moving to a remote Japanese mountain village to tend to fields and craft this game entirely on his own over the course of six long years.

    • No Generative AI: Every single one of the 300+ illustrations was meticulously drawn by Nishimura’s own hand.
    • Legendary Music: The soundtrack is composed by the legendary Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story), ensuring a sweeping, nostalgic auditory experience.
    • Pure Human Soul: The developers proudly state that the game “has a soul that can only be found in something truly handmade.”

“Once you open this book, you are no longer just a reader.”

    Gameplay: Nostalgia Meets Modern Design

Inspired by iconic gamebooks like GrailQuest, Sorcery!, and Fighting Fantasy, Veritas Tales blends visual novel storytelling with old-school RPG systems.

You aren’t just reading passive text; you are actively shaping the narrative. As you turn the pages, you’ll roll dice, track your stats via an on-screen pencil and eraser UI, and make critical choices. • Katana Steel Meets Urban Noir: Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel Drops Global Alpha Demo on Steam

Katana Steel Meets Urban Noir: Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel Drops Global Alpha Demo on Steam

Indie action fans, it’s time to wake up and clear your schedules. If you’ve been craving a game that fuses the moody atmosphere of a classic graphic novel with tight, heavy-hitting combat, look no further. Theremin Interactive has officially unleashed the global Alpha Demo for their highly anticipated title, Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel, over on Steam.

Billed as a 2.5D noir action-Metroidvania RPG, this title is building a wildly original universe that feels fresh, gritty, and unashamedly stylish.

The Premise: Amnesia, Business Suits, and Werewolves

In Legion of Judgment, you aren’t just exploring another generic fantasy dungeon. Instead, you step into the polished shoes of a katana-wielding, amnesiac businessman who possesses terrifying supernatural powers.

The world has been quietly overtaken by a sinister werewolf guild. To survive and fight back, you have to lead a double life:

    • By Day: Play the role of a regular hotel CEO, managing and restoring a rundown establishment that secretly serves as the hideout for the Legion of Judgment.
    • By Night: Wage a brutal, lone-wolf war against the werewolf conspiracy, infiltrating realistic urban backdrops to harvest gear, earn income, and rebuild your legion.

The catch? You’ve lost your memories and your powers. To get them back, you’ll have to literally delve inside your own head to explore a non-linear “Memory Palace.”

What to Expect in the Alpha Demo

Theremin Interactive has rolled out this initial Alpha Demo with a very specific goal: perfecting the core combat framework.

The free demo offers about 20 minutes of breathless, non-stop side-scrolling action. While the full version will heavily feature the deeper RPG mechanics like the Memory Palace and the Hotel Management systems, the developer has intentionally stripped those back for the Alpha to ensure players can give focused, unfiltered feedback on the game’s core mechanics.

Here is what you get to test out right now:

    • Belt-Scroller Meets Metroidvania: Experience a satisfying blend of classic beat-’em-up combat and tight 2.5D side-scrolling.
    • Deep Action Linkages: Put your reflexes to the test using advanced combat systems like animation cancelling, parrying, and spectacular swordplay against enemies armed with automatic weapons.
    • Play Your Way: Dive headfirst into a loud, chaotic brawl, or slip through the shadows as a silent assassin.

    Download and Wishlist Now

The development team is actively looking for global player feedback to polish the final experience, making this the perfect time to get hands-on and help shape an ambitious indie title.

The Legion of Judgment: Fallen Angel Alpha Demo is available to download for free right now on Steam. Head over, slice up some bad guys, and don’t forget to hit that wishlist button to support the developers!

  • Nivalis Nights: Cyberpunk Life Sim Locks In September Release Date

Nivalis Nights: Cyberpunk Life Sim Locks In September Release Date

The neon-soaked streets of Nivalis are finally calling us back. Publisher 505 Games and independent developer ION LANDS (the brilliant minds behind Cloudpunk) have officially announced that their highly anticipated cyberpunk slice-of-life simulator, Nivalis Nights, will launch on Steam on September 29, 2026.

If the name sounds slightly unfamiliar, that is because the game—previously known simply as Nivalis—has received a stylish title update alongside its brand-new release date trailer. For players looking to grab it elsewhere on PC, an Epic Games Store release is confirmed to follow at a later date.

Check out the official breakdown of what to expect when you hit the rain-slicked pavement this fall.

    From Noodle Stands to Nightclubs

In Nivalis Nights, you aren’t playing as a cybernetically enhanced mercenary out to save the world. Instead, you are just trying to make a living, find your footing, and thrive in a stunning, voxel-art metropolis that stretches from the ocean to the clouds.

The game blends the cosy mechanics of management sims with a gritty, immersive cyberpunk atmosphere. You will start from incredibly humble beginnings and attempt to build a sprawling business empire.

    • Choose Your Hustle: Manage and grow unique businesses from the ground up, including noodle stands, hole-in-the-wall bars, ramen shops, and the city’s most exclusive nightclubs.
    • Supply Chain Management: Source your own ingredients directly from bustling waterfront marketplaces, or head down to the docks to grow and fish for your own stock.
    • A Living City: Navigate a realistic weather system and a world pushed to the brink by strict CorpSec crackdowns and a mysterious serial killer.

    Cosy Living Above the Clouds

When you aren’t managing foot traffic or trying to legally (or illegally) sabotage your business rivals under the cover of a city-wide curfew, Nivalis Nights invites you to take things slow.

Players can buy, customise, and decorate their dream apartments high above the smog. The game also promises a rich, character-driven narrative where you can explore hidden alleyways, chat with an eclectic cast of citizens, unlock deep stories, make lifelong friends, and potentially even find love.

A Labour of Love Five Years in the Making

The team at ION LANDS has been hard at work refining this ambitious simulation since its initial reveal back in 2021.

“As an independent studio, developing this game meant overcoming hurdles we’ve never faced before, and we are incredibly grateful to our community for their patience over the last five years,” said Marko Dieckmann, Creative Director at ION LANDS. “Today, we are thrilled to finally lock in our official release date and cannot wait for players to dive in.”

Nivalis Nights hits PC via Steam on September 29, 2026. Be sure to head over to the Steam page to add it to your wishlist today.

  • Get Ready to Turn Up the HEAT: World of Tanks: HEAT Season 1 “Lost Eden” Has Officially Arrived!

Get Ready to Turn Up the HEAT: World of Tanks: HEAT Season 1 “Lost Eden” Has Officially Arrived!

Wargaming is officially taking its tactical vehicle combat to the next level. If you thought the initial release of World of Tanks: HEAT was intense, get ready to crank things up a notch. Wargaming has officially launched Season 1, titled “Lost Eden,” dropping a massive payload of fresh content for its free-to-play tactical vehicle shooter across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Whether you’re a tactical mastermind or a frontline brawler, Season 1 brings a brand-new flavour of psychological warfare to the armoured battlefield. Here is a breakdown of everything rolling out of the garage.

Meet Flair: The New Agent of Deception

The headline of Season 1 is the introduction of Flair, a new Marksman-class Agent who wins battles by controlling information rather than just exchanging fire. She specialises in stealth, misdirection, and keeping the enemy guessing.

    • Passive Ability (Signature Masking): Keeps her completely hidden from enemy targeting and lock-on systems when her vehicle energy is high.
    • Ultimate Ability (Echo Proxy): Deploys a fully controllable duplicate vehicle. It’s the ultimate tool for setting up devastating ambushes, baiting out enemy cooldowns, and safely repositioning across the map.

    Two New Deception-Based Tanks

Agent Flair doesn’t come empty-handed. Season 1 introduces two unique, experimental vehicles that double down on her stealthy playstyle—and the best part? Both can be earned for free through the Battle Pass track.

    • Leopard 2FK (ATGM Launcher): This beast fires steered anti-tank guided missiles, allowing you to hit enemies hiding behind partial cover. Even better, its Feign Death ability lets you disguise your tank as a piece of smoking battlefield wreckage while you continue to move. Combine that with Electro-Optical Jammers to ruin enemy targeting accuracy, and you have a ghost on the battlefield.
    • Leopard 2KST (Autoloader): Engineered for burst damage and escape, this tank features a 3-shell autoloader magazine. It utilises Active Camo to enter a completely cloaked state (though it emits a distinct electronic hum) and can drop an EMP Trap to slow down and damage pursuing enemies.

    New Map: New Eden

The fight moves to a stunning and tactically diverse new biome: the New Eden Agricultural Complex. Set in a sprawling, deep desert, the map centres around the ruins of a forgotten megaproject.

Tactically, it’s a playground for all playstyles. Giant, shattered biodomes and abandoned research facilities offer heavy cover and tight chokepoints for Assault and Defender roles, while the vast desert perimeter provides wide-open sightlines perfect for Marksmen looking to punish reckless positioning.

The Season 1 Battle Pass: Your Rewards, Your Way

Running from July 1 to September 2, the Season 1 Battle Pass features a single progression track where everyone can earn rewards just by playing matches and completing missions.

However, Wargaming is shaking up the formula by introducing an optional Premium Battle Pass for 1000 HEAT-Coins. Rather than gating exclusive power behind a paywall, the Premium Pass grants total freedom: it allows you to unlock the rewards in any order you want. If there’s a specific skin or blueprint you want at the end of the track, you can grab it immediately once you have the points!

What’s Next? Wargaming has also teased a dedicated Quality-of-Life update scheduled for mid-July, which will include a highly requested community feature: the ability to test drive any vehicle before you commit to buying it.

Are You Ready to Roll Out?

World of Tanks: HEAT has successfully bridged the gap between classic hero-shooters and gritty armoured warfare, and Lost Eden proves that Wargaming is committed to keeping the meta fresh, fast, and tactical.

Season 1 is officially live right now. Log in, unlock Flair, master the New Eden sands, and let us know in the comments what you think of the new Premium Battle Pass system!
