Ready to go Pro, chooms? Night City has never looked—or performed—quite like this. CD Projekt Red has officially dropped a surprise free update for Cyberpunk 2077, specifically optimised for the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Despite previous hints that the studio had moved on to the next Witcher project, they’ve returned to the dark future to squeeze every ounce of power out of Sony’s new mid-gen beast. Whether you’re a chrome-obsessed mercenary or a casual tourist in Watson, this update is the definitive console way to experience the neon-soaked streets.
The Tech: PSSR and BVH8
The headline of this update is the integration of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). This AI-powered upscaling technology allows the game to render at a lower internal resolution while outputting a sharp, high-fidelity 4K image, maintaining those elusive high frame rates.
Furthermore, the developers have implemented BVH8 (8-way Bounding Volume Hierarchy) support. In English? It makes ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections significantly more efficient, bringing the console version closer than ever to the “Psycho” settings found on high-end PCs.
Three New Graphics Modes
Gone are the days of choosing between “blurry 60 FPS” or “stuttery 30 FPS.” PS5 Pro owners now have three distinct ways to play:

Better Late Than Never
It’s a bit of a “miracle” update, considering CDPR initially stated they had no plans for a Pro patch back in late 2024. However, with the game now a staple of the PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium catalogue, this update ensures that the millions of players still jumping into Night City have the best possible hardware to back them up.
