The core premise is a grisly murder mystery unfolding in the small Appalachian town of Asbury Pines. But this isn’t a quick case—the secret is embedded across the town’s entire history, from the late Stone Age to the deep future.

You, the player, must orchestrate the lives and work of the town’s residents, affectionately known as the “Pinies.”

The Gameplay Loop: Build a Story Factory

The true genius of the game lies in how it ties progression to the narrative:

• Orchestrate and Automate: You manage the Pinies across 12 distinct eras. By setting up production loops, you help them grow resources and upgrade skills. Think of it as building a “factory” where the output isn’t just wood or metal—it’s stories.
• Time-Spanning Economy: The production loops you create stretch and connect across different centuries. From Hrokk the caveman to Moharan the temporal physicist, the work of characters in one era contributes to unlocking content, places, and resources in the next.
• Unveiling the Mystery: The resources you generate are spent to unlock an image-rich narrative, revealing snippets of the murder mystery through over 350 individual stories from more than 50 unique characters (including people, plants, and animals!).
