The wait for the ultimate zombie crossover is over. As of January 29, 2026, Saber Interactive has officially released the World War Z x The Walking Dead DLC, bringing the gritty, character-driven atmosphere of AMC’s hit series into the high-octane swarm mechanics of World War Z.
For fans who have spent years debating how Rick Grimes would handle a “Zeke” mountain, this expansion provides a definitive (and bloody) answer.
New Story Campaign: The Iconic Road
The DLC introduces a brand-new story episode featuring three chapters set in legendary locations from the show. Rather than just being “WWZ maps with a coat of paint,” these levels have been redesigned to feel more claustrophobic and tense, mirroring the survival horror roots of The Walking Dead.
- The Prison: Navigate the fences and cell blocks where the group once sought refuge.

To keep veteran players on their toes, the DLC introduces the Spiked Walker—a new special infected with an armoured head and a body covered in rebar that causes bleeding damage on contact. You’ll need to knock them prone before you can finish them with a melee strike.
