If you’re the type of player who lives for the satisfying clink of a perfect parry, mark your calendars. Independent developer Kaosrio has officially announced that their high-octane side-scroller, Ricochet Raven, is set to launch into Early Access on April 21st, 2026.
In a genre where “shoot first, ask questions later” is the norm, Ricochet Raven flips the script. Here, your only weapon is the enemy’s own aggression.
Deflect or Die: The Art of the Rebound
Ricochet Raven is a fast-paced roguelike built entirely around a single, polished mechanic: projectile deflection. You won’t find a standard arsenal of guns or swords here. Instead, you must master the art of the parry to survive.
- Offence through Defence: The only way to deal damage is to send enemy projectiles screaming back at them.
- Chain Reactions: Successfully deflecting shots allows you to stay airborne, chaining dashes and mid-air parries to navigate levels without ever touching the ground.
- Dynamic Chaos: The harder you hit, the more carnage you create. Well-timed deflections trigger screen-filling explosions of colour as projectiles ricochet between enemies.
Build Your Bird
As a roguelike, no two runs are the same. Players can collect and equip Upgrade Feathers that alter their abilities and combat style. Whether you want to focus on high-speed mobility or maximise the destructive power of your returns, these upgrades allow you to carve out a unique playstyle as you progress through the game’s challenging environments.
What’s Included in Early Access?
Solo developer Kaosrio—a self-professed lover of parry mechanics—is launching the game as a passion project with a solid foundation of content:

| Enemies | 7 distinct enemy types |
| Environments | 1 fully realized procedural world |
| Bosses | 1 major boss encounter |
| Upgrades | 20+ unique Feather Upgrades |

The Road Ahead
This is just the beginning for the Raven. Kaosrio plans to keep the game in Early Access for roughly a year or two, using player feedback to expand the world. Future updates are expected to include:
- New procedural environments.
- Additional boss battles.
- Expanded “Special Zones” to shake up the standard gameplay loop.
- Even more Feather Upgrades to deepen the meta.
“I wanted to create a small, casual roguelike game… I would love to expand upon it and polish it more with the help of player feedback!” — Kaosrio, Developer
