Dust off your Walkman and get your deck ready, because the suburbs are getting weird again.
Indie powerhouse Cococucumber has officially launched Echo Generation 2, the highly anticipated sequel to their award-winning 2021 turn-based adventure. This time around, the developers are trading traditional RPG mechanics for a sci-fi deckbuilding twist, and it’s available right now.
Whether you’re playing on PC (via Steam or Xbox on PC), Xbox Series X|S, or streaming via the Cloud, you can dive into the mystery today. Best of all? It’s a Day One Xbox Game Pass release.
What is Echo Generation 2?
If you missed the first game, think Stranger Things meets EarthBound, wrapped in a gorgeous, neon-soaked voxel art style.
Set in the tail-end of the 1980s, Echo Generation 2 follows a crew of suburban kids investigating strange, extraterrestrial occurrences in their hometown. However, instead of the standard turn-based battles from the original, the sequel shifts gears into a deep, tactical deckbuilder. You’ll collect cards, build powerful combos, and use retro-inspired gadgets to battle mutated creatures, rogue mechs, and alien threats.
The Vibe: Crisp voxel graphics, a pounding synthwave soundtrack, and a heavy dose of nostalgia that feels both familiar and entirely fresh.
Launch Details & Pricing
If you aren’t an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can pick up the game standalone starting today. Cococucumber has launched the title with very reasonable regional pricing:
- UK: £22.49
- US: $24.99 USD
- Canada: $29.99 CAD
Given the depth of the new card-battling mechanics and the sheer charm of Cococucumber’s worlds, this is an absolute steal for indie sci-fi fans.
