Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, the king of open-world aquatic mayhem is officially returning.

During the latest Sony State of Play, developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive, alongside co-development partner Demiurge Studios, made a massive splash with the reveal trailer for Maneater 2. The follow-up to 2020’s hit eat ‘em up sensation—and gaming’s premier open-world action-RPG starring a shark (or “shARkPG”)—is officially in active development and slated for a 2027 release window.

Welcome to Neptune’s Kingdom

Where the original game had players terrorising the waters of Port Clovis, Maneater 2 cranks the scale and chaos up to eleven. Players will dive into the depths of Neptune’s Kingdom, an ultra-luxury, five-star resort and Roman Empire-themed private island park designed for the elite.

You’ll crash an exclusive, invite-only preview event packed with high-profile influencers and media figures, turning a playground for corporate greed into an all-you-can-eat VIP buffet. Beneath the surface, dodgy corporate science and advanced marine research have spawned bizarre new evolutions for your bull shark, giving you brand-new ways to hunt, explore, and escape.
