If you love high-tempo combat, rogue-lite runs, and rhythm-based action, put this on your radar! Studio RibCage Games has officially confirmed that Alpha Nomos, its ambitious rhythm-action roguelite, will be making the jump to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S following its PC release.
The announcement arrived alongside a slick new console announcement trailer showcasing the game’s striking “puppetcore” aesthetic and beat-driven combat mechanics in action.
What is Alpha Nomos?
Developed by indie team RibCage Games, Alpha Nomos blends the relentless, unpredictable thrill of an action roguelite with the tight precision of a rhythm game.
You play as Cello, navigating a surreal, melody-twisted world overrun by rogue puppets. Armed with musical instruments transformed into deadly weapons—such as the newly showcased Xyloblades—you’ll hack, dodge, and unleash combos through abandoned cities and corrupted carnivals.
Key Features to Get Excited About
- Beat-Synced Combat: Every swing, dodge, and special ability locks directly to the soundtrack. Staying on beat powers up your strikes and creates devastating combo opportunities.
- Instruments as Weapons: Fight using weaponised instruments featuring live studio recordings by real musicians, giving every attack an authentic sonic bite.
- Reactive Audio Power-ups: Collect real-time audio effects like Reverb, Flanger, and Delay that modify your combat abilities while dynamically altering the background music.
- Live Soundtrack by Totem Warriors: The game features an evolving soundtrack helmed by Totem Warriors (led by Juan Garcia-Herreros, known for his work with Hans Zimmer’s musical group).
- Accessible Rhythm Mechanics: Don’t stress if timing isn’t your strong suit—adjustable timing offsets and difficulty settings make the beat-driven action accessible for rhythm novices and hardcore pros alike.
