Studio Joh has officially unleashed the demo for HYPERFIGHT 2 on PC via Steam, and it’s looking like a heavyweight contender for indie fighting game of the year. Along with the playable slice of action, a brand-new trailer has dropped to showcase the sequel’s frantic, high-stakes combat.
If you’re worried about losing your progress, don’t be—Studio Joh has confirmed that saves will transfer to the full game upon release.
What’s New in the Arena?
For those who missed the cult-classic original, HYPERFIGHT is known for its “risk it all” philosophy. The sequel evolves the formula, moving away from the one-hit-kill mechanics of the first game to introduce a deeper, neutral-heavy system.
Key Features in the Demo:
- Three Playable Characters: Get a feel for the diverse roster, including the newly revealed zoner, Yo-Yona.
- Tug-of-War Meter System: Forget health bars. You win by gaining 5 points; you lose points when hit and spend them to unleash devastating Special and Hyper moves.
- Rollback Netcode: Essential for any serious fighter—the demo includes online versus with smooth-as-butter rollback and menu-based lobbies.
- New Mechanics: The sequel adds combos and Ring Outs, adding a layer of spatial awareness to the fast-paced 2D scrapping.
Roadmap to Release
The demo isn’t a blink-and-you ‘ll-miss-it event. It will remain live on Steam through the upcoming June Next Fest, giving players plenty of time to sharpen their skills before the full launch.
