Command the lines, master the formations, and write history. Independent studio Tactical Boar has confirmed that Veterans: Napoleonic Wars — their focused, historically grounded real-time tactical strategy title — will storm into Steam Early Access on 28 October 2026. Every wishlist, message, and piece of feedback from the community has helped shape the game — and the team is thanking supporters ahead of the march.
What Is Veterans: Napoleonic Wars?
This isn’t your typical RTS — no base-building, no resource grinding, no distractions. Just pure, unfiltered battlefield command. You step into the boots of a frontline general leading thousands of troops across iconic Napoleonic engagements, where formation, timing, and morale decide everything.
“Quick decisions and keen tactical formations are the only things that stand between your troops and victory.” — Tactical Boar
Core Pillars of Command
| Feature | What It Means on the Field |
|---|---|
| Three Arms of Service | Infantry, cavalry, and artillery — each with distinct roles, strengths, and vulnerabilities |
| Authentic Formations | Line for fire, column for shock, square to repel cavalry — get it wrong and your line shatters |
| Human Factors | Morale, fatigue, ammunition, and line of sight — troops break when pressed too hard |
| Living Battlefield | Drifting smoke, dynamic weather, and fog of war obscure vision — adapt as conditions shift |
| No Bases, All Battle | Every decision matters — flanking manoeuvres, cavalry charges, and artillery barrages win or lose the day |
Early Access — What’s in the March?
The initial Early Access release centres on Napoleon’s Italian Campaign of 1796–1797, featuring 10 distinct historical battles:
- Veterancy System — Units grow in skill and resilience across engagements; build an army that learns as it fights
- Pre-Battle Planning — Equip and refine your force before marching out; shape your approach to each unique challenge
- Roadmap Coming — Just before launch, Tactical Boar will publish a full roadmap detailing Egyptian campaign expansions, additional battles, and combat refinements
The team has made clear: Early Access is just the start. Development will continue throughout, with community feedback remaining central to every update.
Try Before You March — Steam Next Fest Demo

- Egyptian Campaign — Get an early look at a second major theatre before full release
- Feedback Welcome — Play, report, and help refine the experience before launch
