You don’t lock the door. You don’t run. You don’t even call for help. Because if you leave, you lose everything.
KYC: K Stands for Killing — the gripping first?person narrative horror from Monastic Hill Studios, based on the novel Welcome to Mehtos 24×7 by Aman Mehto — casts you behind the counter of Mehtos 247, a lonely gas station stranded on a dead highway outside Highwater, Colorado. What begins as a terrible job slowly reveals itself as something far worse: a place where the thing behind the locked backroom door is hungry — and you are the one who must feed it.
Trapped Behind the Counter
You play as Suneil Shrivastava, an international student who lost his scholarship and took the only work he could find. The pay covers his final semester — but the cost of quitting is deportation. He cannot walk away. He cannot afford to fail. So he clocks in, scans the goods, restocks the shelves, and mops the floor — while the night stretches on and the thing in the back waits.
- The routine is the horror — Suneil doesn’t just survive; he works. He counts change, listens to small talk, and treats every customer like a normal patron… until he must decide which one walks through that back door
- Seven names before dawn — the creature demands seven. It doesn’t threaten Suneil directly; it simply expects. And Suneil learns that the line between “doing my job” and “condemning someone” blurs with terrifying speed
- The real terror is normalcy — the game’s sharpest edge isn’t jump scares or monsters; it’s how quickly you grow accustomed to making the choice. How routine makes the unthinkable feel ordinary
- Story?driven, choice?shaped — your decisions change who leaves, who stays, and what secrets Mehtos 247 has buried. No two nights unfold exactly the same
Not a Slasher Film — A Moral One
This is reverse horror reimagined: you are not the prey being hunted; you are the gatekeeper being slowly broken. Every regular face, every hurried traveller, every weary soul stopping for fuel at 3 a.m. becomes a weight on your conscience. Do you send the rude one? The stranger with no family? The one who won’t be missed? And how do you live with yourself when you start believing your own justifications?
Night One is free to play right now on Steam, giving you a taste of the shift before the full Early Access launch arrives 19 November 2026.
