Get your bell-bottoms, plasma cutters, and ’70s moustaches ready! UK publisher Kwalee and developer The Wild Gentlemen (the creative minds behind Chicken Police) have officially dropped a massive announcement: their highly anticipated immersive sim RetroSpace is officially launching on October 1, 2026.

The retro-futuristic horror title is coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing a heavy dose of disco-punk mayhem to current-gen platforms.

What is RetroSpace?

Described as a love letter to classic immersive sims like System Shock and Deus Ex, RetroSpace drops players into the boots of a 3D-printed clone janitor aboard Aurora 5—a sprawling space station that has unfortunately been swallowed by a sentient black hole.

With reality warping, time jumping back and forth, and bizarre plant-animal hybrid mutants roaming the corridors, you might just be humanity’s last (and most unlikely) hope for survival.

Key Features to Expect:

• Stealth vs. Full-Blown Action: True to the immersive sim genre, there is no single “right” way to play. Hack security turrets, lurk in the shadows, craft distractions, or go guns-blazing using burning alien body parts as improvised weapons.
• Wild “Mutamods™”: Upgrade your janitor with powers like tentacle arms, mind control, or shadow-melding skills. Just watch out—mutations come with unpredictable and irreversible physical and mental side effects.
• Metroidvania Space Station Design: Explore the interconnected halls of Aurora 5, uncover shortcuts, and retreat back to a (mostly) peaceful central HUB when the cosmic horror gets too overwhelming.
• Death, Rebirth, and Clones: Dying isn’t the end. Aurora 5 will simply print a fresh clone of you. However, new clones can suffer from “degenerations,” and you’ll have to track down your previous corpse to retrieve your lost equipment.
• Groovy ’70s Aesthetics: A low-poly visual design combined with 1960s/70s retro-futurism, discopunk tunes, dark satirical humour, and plenty of iconic facial hair.
