Can an underdog actually save the world from the apocalypse? Well, today, you’ll get to find out as GPTRACK50, a studio founded by veteran action game developers (led by former Resident Evil and Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi), and publisher SEGA, have just dropped a playable demo for their upcoming pop-punk action-RPG, Stupid Never Dies.
Announced during the PlayStation® State of Play Showcase, the Stupid Never Dies: First Bite Demo is available right now on PlayStation® 5 and Steam. Accompanying the announcement, the team premiered their third trailer, giving fans a deeper look into the game’s outlandish world and introducing several key characters, including the menacing Four Generals who serve the King of Monsters (KOM).
A Bizarre Tale of Love, Ruin, and Undead Action
Stupid Never Dies puts players in the shoes of Davy—the lowest of the low in a monster-ruled, post-apocalyptic society. Scraping by in a deserted shopping mall, Davy’s life changes forever when he discovers Julia, a human college girl frozen inside a commercial freezer, and falls in love at first sight. Driven by a desire to revive her and ask her out on a date, Davy sets off on a quest into the depths of a deadly dungeon to defeat KOM and reclaim humanity’s lost knowledge.
What to Expect in the First Bite Demo
The First Bite demo offers roughly two hours of fast-paced, “Blazing Fast Growth” action RPG gameplay. Players will get a taste of the core mechanics that give Stupid Never Dies its distinct pop-punk flavor:
- Style Eat: Devour elite enemy cores to steal their powers and transform into unique fighting styles (such as Werewolf, Harpy, Golem, and Vampire).
- Body Hack: Customise Davy’s undead body with high-tech “Overtech” cybernetics to swap out limbs, boost stats, and unlock wild skills.
- Davy Burst: Unleash Davy’s imagination to temporarily warp reality, turning combat into an over-the-top, graffiti-styled frenzy.
- Boss Fights: Test your skills against early boss encounters like the fire-spewing Afreet and Phoenix Zaza Hotfeathers.
Best of all for eager gamers, save data from the demo carries over to the full game when it officially launches on October 21.
If you’re a fan of fast-paced combat, quirky humour, and stylish action, jump on Steam or the PlayStation Store today to take your first bite out of the apocalypse.
