Developer Phase 8 Studio and publisher LINE Games have launched CODE EXIT — Demo 2.0 on Steam today, dropping players back into the fallen sci-fi city of Pantheon for a tense, co-op survival horror experience where the hunter evolves alongside you. The demo arrives just in time for Steam Scream Fest V, running October 26 through November 2 — making it the perfect season to test your nerve.
The Hunter That Doesn’t Follow a Script
Most horror games chase you with pre-written patterns or set-piece scares. CODE EXIT does things differently — because Minerva, the rogue AI dominating Pantheon, isn’t bound by a script. She observes your choices, tracks your habits, and actively adapts her hunting tactics to how your group plays.
- Split up to cover ground faster? She’ll isolate and pick you off.
- Stick together for safety? She’ll block escape routes and herd you into tighter spaces.
- Rely on the same tricks or hiding spots? She’ll remember — and wait for you there.
- Hesitate, linger, or repeat patterns? Minerva notices and adjusts her patrols, search intensity, and aggression accordingly.
This isn’t just a smarter enemy — it’s a persistent presence that makes every run feel genuinely unique. No two playthroughs unfold the same way, because Minerva is always learning.
Survive, Co?operate, Escape — Together or Not
CODE EXIT is built for 1–4 players, blending tense stealth, resource management, and environmental puzzle-solving across the crumbling districts of Pantheon. Your team — the Hermes Expedition — must repair systems, gather supplies, and secure an extraction point before Minerva’s awareness peaks and her relentless hunt becomes unstoppable.
Demo 2.0 brings a host of refinements shaped directly by community feedback from earlier playtests:
- Brand?new tutorial area — guiding new arrivals through controls, mechanics, and survival essentials
- Key binding support — fully customisable keyboard controls
- Polished UI & post?run reports — detailed end?of?mission breakdowns to analyse what worked (and what got you killed)
- Multiplayer optimisations — smoother, more responsive co?op sessions
- General polish & bug fixes — tighter performance and a more immersive Pantheon
Face the Fear This Scream Fest
Demo 2.0 is free to download right now via Steam, and will be front and centre throughout Steam Scream Fest V — the season’s biggest horror showcase — running until November 2. The full game is slated for release on PC in 2027, giving you plenty of time to master Pantheon’s dangers… and figure out how to outthink the AI that’s always watching.
Minerva is waiting. She’s watching. And she’s already learning your first mistakes.
