Borderlands 4 has been officially announced and is now available for purchase.
Release Date and Platforms:
- Initial Release: September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Release: October 3, 2025.
Key Features:
- New Vault Hunters: The game introduces a new cast of four playable Vault Hunters: Vex (The Siren), Rafa (The Exo-Soldier), Amon (The Forgeknight), and Harlowe (The Gravitar).
- New Planet: The story is set on the new planet Kairos, which features a seamless world with no loading screens between areas.
- Enhanced Traversal: New movement abilities have been added, including gliding, dodging, and a grappling hook.
- Story and Tone: The developers at Gearbox Software have aimed for a more “grounded” and less “over-the-top” humour compared to previous titles, with the humour emerging more naturally from gameplay and character interactions.
- Co-op Features: The game supports co-op play with up to four players, and a new feature allows for individual difficulty scaling, so players can team up regardless of their preferred challenge level. Cross-play is active at launch, but cross-save and cross-progression are planned for a future update.
- New Weapon Manufacturers: In addition to the returning manufacturers, the game introduces new ones, including Order, Ripper, and Daedalus, and some weapons can combine parts from different manufacturers.
- PC Requirements: The game requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. Minimum requirements include an Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. A solid-state drive (SSD) is also recommended.
